Asus Zenbook S13 OLED (2023) Review | Unbelievable Ultraportable!

- Reviewing Asus' Zenbook S13 OLED 2023, an ultraportable laptop boasting 13th Gen Intel power and ridiculously good features. Vs the Macbook Air M2, the Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED is a seriously strong rival for creators, with enough power for light gaming on the side. It's one of the best slim notebooks I've reviewed in 2023 or indeed ever!
So what makes this laptop so compelling? Well, the thin and light design means you can carry the Zenbook S13 OLED anywhere you go, yet the connectivity is top notch. That 2.8k display is a stunner and the MyAsus app allows you to tweak the gamut, to suit creative tasks, movie playback, whatever.
Power is provided by the Intel 13th Gen Core i7 1355U, serving up strong enough performance for photo editing, gaming on reasonably demanding titles and working in Chrome with dozens of tabs open. The Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED 2023 can also last almost six hours with mixed use - not bad at all considering the size of this laptop.
Usability gets a thumbs up despite an issue with that touchpad. And if you spend half your life zooming, the Zenbook S13 OLED will suit you fine thanks to its AI camera and noise cancelling mic setup.
So that's my review of the Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED 2023. Let me know what you think of one of the best ultraportable notebooks of the year down below!

looks absolutely gorgeous...& performance doesn't seem too shoddy either. can't wait to see them here soon. greetings from sunny south africa. 👊🏽🇿🇦
Amzing review and amazing wallpapers as always 🔥👍
Very good review, but what about heating? the previous 12th Gen 1260p Intel CPU cooked the zenbook and it was unpossible to work with it. How is cooling and Noise? Thanks for answering in advance
Love the oshi no ko Wallpaper my guy ❤
Thanks for sharing your review.
I can't ignore the wallpaper tho.... Awesome video btw❤
Checked a store, ABT. They have this model on order with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD for $1399.99 USD. Very nice laptop! Thanks for your review!
Man, we can get 16GB/1TB version for 1700eur.
Would want way more ram with the laptop.
Nice review! I saw all I want.
There are so many variations and places that do and don’t sell them… ASU’s laptops need a one stop shop for purchase..
Do we know who is developing the oled panel? Is it LG, or a Samsung qd?
Hey bro can u tell which one is better overall xperia 5 or lg g8?
Asus Zenbook u5302 looked pretty good also. These 13 inch laptops are the best value for me.
I like your all wallpapers. Where can I download it?
thanx for review
How does lightroom perform on this, please? Something like 40mpx raws editing.
I've got the AMD variant. It's brilliant and has twice the battery life of this Intel version, not to mention more GPU power! Why on earth would they ruin such a machine with Intel - utterly baffling.
I got the AMD variant from last year, there are a few drawbacks,
1. No USB 4.0 after all that hype, can't connect to external GPU
2. A bit buggy, laptop freezes and to force restart in a few occasions throughout the month.
3. Mouse freezes when CPU under stress.
I think ASUS lacks confidence to switch to AMD platform Ultrabooks.
there is no current amd variant 2023
@@leviathan19 not yet. AMD normally follows Intel, I think - someone will say if I'm wrong 😆
Maybe it is because you are lying about battery life and that fact that AMD only has 10% laptop market share.
@@RK-um9tu lol what are you even talking about?
how is it for video editing premier pro/after effect sir?
Man!! I wanna know the source of your amazing and seucy wallpapers...
Hi Bro, Does it have the backlit Numparpad on the Touchpad?
Is the power button supposed to have very light click sound when you press or is mine just faulty?
So when are all the official launches of the new asus pro books?
I have last year's asus vivebook amd and it is such a great laptop
15 pro?
Was a great video just got to the 7 minute mark when that enter key turned me off the laptop key completely. Probably seems petty but I cant function with half the key missing.
Damn, I love that wallpaper ! Great review as usual!!
Where i can find that anime wallpapers? He so good choosing anime wallpapers
@@LenovoLOQ1x12GB a little late but he has a YT short showing where he gets them from
I've just realized that the lines on the laptop cover were not some random lines, it's the triangle logo of the zenbook blown up.
Thin and light laptops are the future 👍👍👍
Well done :)
Kinda love it, my go to machine is a Lenovo t480s that gives me 10h plus of battery time though
ThinkPads are awesome!
is it plague with the nasty atrocious moire pattern because of touch layer (aka screen door effect)
What's the refresh rate on the panel? Great video.
60hz
Only the reviewers and the influencers have this laptop. Last year mid, July, I tried to get the 2022 version of the laptop in the UK, and no matter how long I waited, it was never in stock. So eventually, I went to its similar Lenovo with a better 90hz screen.
yes ASUS had a habit in 2022 of announcing and allowing reviews of their laptops, but never actually releasing them for purchase by the public. I went for the LG Gram and i'm now converted- simply amazing. ASUS are continue to play games with availability this year too it seems.
@D R I believe from 2023 they use anti reflective displays. The LG Gram keyboard is super, portability is class leading, screen is excellent. It's not a power user laptop - get a Zephyrus or something similar, but perfect for productivity and media consumption. Moderate media creation is fine also.
I'm in Philippines and last year model is plenty available everywhere.
What model was the lenovo? currently on the market and seriously considering the 2022 zenbook s 13 oled for £900
How is the touchpad on this?
I like the design beautiful 😍
Just watched oshi no ko, definitely the best anime i watched this year and its just on ep 2 so far!
boss mind sharing where u get anime wallpapers from?
Is it good fir pramming?
Do a comparison with the lenovo i9 yoga.
Techspurt back at it again with the cultured wallpapers!!
where yo u get these wallpapers Can you name the sites?
please.. make a comparison with Samsung Galaxy Book 3 pro ❤
I can see OLED PWM right on your video. You didn't mention PWM.
THE POWER BUTTON DUDE, IT'S IN MIDDLE OF F12 AND DELETE WHAT THE F.
Pls post mi 13 ultra review big fan brother😊
Please review the Asus Vivobook S15 Oled (S5504) 2023
Asus comes in with another banger product, nice
Looks beautiful checks all marks except battery
and reliability too probably ..
Which is one of the most important aspects of a thin and light laptop lol
@@abdennouryounsi9373 why not reliability
Lenovo slim 7 pro seems like the right move
any news about asus zenphone 10 ?
Tougher than a turkey leg from Toby Carvery had me in tears 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Just hope they keep the price less ridiculous though, the laptop itself should be a bargain buy though. Lovely specs!
Definitely going to cost a kidney
@@olodiandrew219 as expected, yeah? Just too bad! 😪😪
Frfr, I hope they don't try a 1000 laptop trend
@@aaronhotchnerzoltfbi8085 I really hope so but I highly doubt they won't either. It's most likely to cost about 1,000 - 1,500 quids
I saw it's $1400 and £1500
Beautiful laptop, always enjoy laughing through your reviews Chris, you may want to try stand up at some point!
3:05 Please what's the name of that animation movie?
What was that clip of an alien sea battle?
I see Vinland Saga, I hit like!
A small request. Please say "Aya Neo" in all of your videos. It doesn't necessarily have to be out of context. E.g. when describing the graphics on the laptop, you could compare it to Aya Neo.
For inside & outside use: 250 nits matte or 550 nits glossy display?
There is no 250 nits option :) And, of course, never buy 250 nits laptops even for indoor use :) 350 is an absolute minimum.
This or Samsung s8 ultra tablet? Help
is it a touch screen
I realized later in audio this one defeats the crap sound of Lenovo yoga slim pro 7i
I don't like up-angled keyboard. I like that it's glossy oled
I have the Asus Zenbook Duo and I like it but even though I haven't finished off paying for it I am considering selling it. I thought that this would be the answer until the discussion of the battery came up. It's such a shame as the rest of the specs tick all the boxes for me. It in the end just seams like If I was able to sell my Zenbook duo and bought this I would have exactly the same problem, pretty poor battery.
Choose amd version
You don't own a Zenbook which is why you did share any actual battery numbers
Fingerprint magnets damn
Where is the ASUS number pad??
can anyone tell me whats the movies name @3:23 and @3:33
First view big fan tech sprut
It's funny how this tiny thing gets 1200 more single core points and 850 more multi-core points on Geekbench than my (former) beast i7-5960X.
Also double my c23 single score and actually behind my multi core score by about 700.
Ancient tech
@@pavy415 It is my longest running main computer for the last 4 decades so I won't say no.
@@Trusteft yeah I know they don't make things like they use to
I'd love to use a laptop like this, but as pointed out, the stupid single row enter key and arrow keys sink that ship. Maybe this could be fed back to Asus?
Yooo you can stand 🤯
A mild heart attack when he tried to bend the screen
the upcoming zenbook s13 oled should be at least 90hz display with the latest intel arc
can this be used for triple a gaming?
'Puny wee cursor keys' are exactly what us professional users want! I'm fed up with laptop designers choosing form over function, and these half size cursor keys can be found by touch without taking eyes off the screen. Even better if the same keys work as PgUp/Dn and Home/End in combination with the Fn key (which it looks like they do here) The keyboard is arguably the most important part of the laptop, given that it's how users interact with it, so it's a shame most reviewers don't spend more time talking about it
would it be compatible to run 3d modeling apps?
yes definitely
just keep in mind if you're doing very large, detailed, or photorealistic 3D work you will probably want a laptop/ computer with a dedicated GPU (graphics processor). This laptop only has CPU with "internal graphics", so not as powerful as one with a separate GPU
I hope asus launch this to amd's zen4 with 780m.
Reminds of the old sony vaio ultra lap top line.... Shit that was expensive
Please start reporting standardized battery test instead of giving vague, non verified mixed use case estimates of battery life.
Why is ASUS using a blue version of this laptop in their advertising material when you can’t actually buy the blue version?
I absolutely hate the screen extending past the bottom to make its own little stand. That'd feel super annoying on your lap. Complete deal breaker.
No working adult does real work with a laptop on their lap
Does the lid stop bullets?
I already pre-ordered.. Love me that Asus me. Hehb heh
It looks very fragile. It seems to bend from touching the lid and from pressing hard on the keyboard.
The batterylife is a deal breaker for me damnnit it had such potential
Check out the AMD variant - has great battery life and graphics power 😁
This guy never uses standardized battery test so why on earth would you belive him?
@@RK-um9tu Fair enough. But I've had enough intel laptops to know that AMD has superior battery life (these days at least) 😁
@@TinyShnutz Intel and AMD CPU's are same in current generations. Personally I prefer AMD when possible, but they are same :)
Dude i love your VEDIO and i have a compliment for you. That you look like Johnny sins dad 🤍
Last years version was much more attractive with one caveat.
Even a 680m is a much better choice than the horrible Irix grahpics and the new process for the cover might be cool, last years simple design was much better in my opinion.
It's certainly AMD's fault that they botched the release of the new mobile Ryzen with RDNA 3 , but a simple refresh of last years model with 32GB would have been a good step until the 780m is available.
Tougher than a turkey leg from Toby Carvery 😂😂😂
ASUS. Zenbook. S13. Oled. 2023. Review unbelievable
Beating Jarrod with 31 minutes!
You didn't say the price mate..
Probably $1499
@@reallycarson 😂😂😂 things I can't afford
Nice review. Want to cooperate with you.
Need a Ryzen in that.
was looking for this series since 2022 but I couldn't find it even until now, hence I got MacBook pro 14... now they release a newer version Lmao
Yes ASUS had a habit in 2022 of announcing and allowing reviews of their laptops, but never actually releasing them for purchase by the public. I went for the LG Gram and i'm now converted- simply amazing. ASUS are continue to play games with availability this year too it seems.
No one who uses Intel would ever buy a MacBook with it's 20th century hardware and history of class action lawsuits.
hey im back love your tech reviews plz can i hve a phone
I would love that if it has 15.6 inch and an rtx.
For that price? It'd better be. 😆😏
Im not sure theyre embarrassed to put their name on it when basically the entire screen rear is covered in the Asus logo.
My new auss zen book Qled 4 k
Great notebook except for the battery life - 5 hours is awful.
Bro looks like a hitman and his wallpaper is an anime girl. My man 💯
The Ryzen version is way better than the intel version. Has a 2gb dedicated graphics card
aZZuZ!
