The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is the premier late night talk show on CBS, airing at 11:35pm EST, streaming online via Paramount+, and delivered to the International Space Station on a USB drive taped to a weather balloon. I love that he's been with the same woman for 52 years, through thick and thin. I usually think of him as inspiring as an actor, but really, this is the accomplishment of a lifetime, for both of them. It's nice to see something so positive, so resilient and enduring, in a world that seems so dark and fragile these days.

Samuel L. Jackson is by far my favorite actor of all times. He's been with his wife for over 50 years, too. Love the guy. He's a fun actor.
I never knew that about Samuel Jackson, his participation in various protests. What a quality human being and what a talent. That his wife is amazing is not surprising.
Along with many others, just because he's a celeb doesn't make it special as if he's as committed as some.
@@vb8428 ......He isn't "just a celeb." He's a fricken astronaut (or the equivalent of one), and its ok to celebrate that. This doesn't mean he doesn't have flaws or make mistakes, and it doesn't mean other people do not do great things with their lives. However, few achieve this across multiple areas of their lives across the entire span of their lives. We live in such negative times, with a seeming avalanche of (complete flaming dumpster fires of human beings), its nice to hold up and laude when a fellow human achieves greatness. It's pretty rare.

Samuel really brought out the south in Stephen. I’ve never heard so many “y’alls” from him before.
This cast and production were AMAZING ‼️ this was my first Broadway show - to see Samuel L Jackson, Danielle Brooks, AND John David Washington on stage was pure magic 🙌🏽🤩
Mr. Jackson is the Total package. Bright,articulate,funny,introspective,scarey and a great participant in any interview. Not only a black Icon...but, Iconic in his body of work as a humanitarian. Plus he is a Vampyre...he and Angela Basset...these star never age or decrease in energy levels. Really...there are people in the Industry that are half their age and look like week old fruit. Colbert is a close second in the graceful aging department....!!Nice tidbit of Hollywood royalty...Thanks!
I didn't know his history with the play back in Yale. What a privilege to work with Lloyd Richards and August Wilson. The history he has participated in...Robert Culp/Bill Cosby rented a plane to fly protesters down South. Mad respect!
Perhaps more impressive, he was a pallbearer for Rev Dr Matin L. King.

I love how Colbert said "ya'll" more in this interview than all other interviews this year so far combined.
It's probably just me but listen to Samuel in the interview it's like any of us could walk up to him and he would graciously greet us. I'm sure that's accurate if it was a crowd of one or two. But when 15 to 1500 people are charging at you for an autograph and a selfie, I understand how quickly they want to duck out and hide
I'm on a message board where one evening there was a "getting to know you (members)" posting where one revealed she previously worked at a Hollywood management firm. This led to her posting an AMA. She didn't spill too much tea, but among their clients, I remember her saying Samuel was charm central and he *never* forgot a birthday. There was always a custom flower delivery with a note to whichever staffer was celebrating one.
One could argue that he had a personal assistant making arrangements, but that person would have to be given a designated list & SLJ would be the source for any changes on such a personal gesture.
I could watch him all day. Brilliant.

I miss traveling to NYC and seeing a Broadway show. I would so love to be there to watch Ms LaTanya Richardson Jackson's "ghost story" interpretation of this classic play.
I doubt this would ever happen, but I would be over the moon if PBS did a taping to air on Great Performances or a paid streaming service. The late Christopher Plummer did this for HBO after his one-man "Barrymore" closed on Broadway.
Recently watched a short documentary on him. After had to open his Wiki to check if he's been really married to the same woman since 90s. Such a rare occurrence these days.
It's generally more rare for stars.

Never really noticed before but I think I personally liked almost every character he has performed. Even his hitman character was likable to an extent.

There’s so many things and so much to love about this life. Even if OP is in a remote area, that means nature is your tv screen. I think we have to appreciate what’s around us to help open us up to be loved.

That sounds like their beginnings of a relationship would be a really good movie, and Samuel should give us some tips on conflict resolution and how to discuss difficult things in a marriage and be successful. Because it sounds like what they’re doing now is the ultimate test of a marriage and they have it got it worked out on a new level that we dont even know about 😂

It has to be so cool to return to Broadway after a successful Hollywood career. Going back to your roots, but instead of struggling and fighting to keep a roof above your head or fighting for meals, you can live in luxury and do the play for basically nothing and just enjoy the experience.
I'll bet as an actor there isn't much of a better feeling. Yes SLJ can probably buy anything he wants, but experiences like that have to take the cake.
