Damn, you cut through that lens installation really quickly, (unlike how long it takes in real life), but I award you a gold star for being the first RUclips influencer to (sort of) show how attach the lens in a real world situation. You didn't show all the cardboard inserts and lens cloth that are inside the case/multiple (yes really individual snuff box sized) cases for the ND filters that fly away when you open them in even the slightest wind. Best left at home or get a case for your cases. This is a good honest video though. The reality is it takes time and preparation to use the lens, and yet more time to take it off after flying, because you can't leave it attached. Having said that I like the results a lot. Cheers and regards.
Mine came in on New Years eve. I literally just tested it out before a shoot today. You have to do a gimble calibration everytime you put it on in order to make sure it doesn't shake. You will have to do the calibration again when you take it off. I find this to be a pain. I also may not have lined it up wrong because I had vinetting. I'll have to test more before using it on a job.
I had similar issues. After a few days. I highly doubt I'll ever use this on a commercial shoot. Just not reliable enough and the extra time it takes to set up and tear down.
@@jared_quackenbush sad to say I agree! I have about 5 to 6 shoots a week and this work flow would slow me down. Not sure if I'll keep it. It does give a great look when it works.
@@JaredHoyman I agree, balancing prep up and take down time (which was never mentioned until the lens shipped) versus flying time/shot capture, not to mention potential gimbal drop is a worry.
@@hover-fly5668 They have a 30 day return policy from delivery so I requested a return and they are sending me a label. I market 80-100 properties a month and I don't have time to take photo's and then land, connect the adapter for video, balance it and then reset for the next shoot which is right after that shoot. The look when done right is amazing though, but when it doesn't mean a thing to a client I have to look at my ROI at the end of the day and how many shoots can I knock out while the sun is up.
The drone is not trying to redirect power to the motors, it's cutting power to protect the gimbal from damage because the lens is putting too much weight on it. I would not use this on my drone because over time that could very well damage the gimbal and leave you with an expensive repair. The lens seems rushed to market and not properly tested, a gimbal should not just drop randomly if it's properly balanced or within operating parameters... that's a sign that something is wrong.
Cool review of the Moment Lens for the Mavic 2, the climb looked treacherous at times but as the saying goes, no pain no gain. That's a sweet ride you have now. You will enjoy it.
That looks awesome! The sun flares in that port were delicious!! I would love to try this out 🔥 It's like it creates a totally new feeling to an already amazing drone. Great film, thank you!
