I gave up on "best of" lists about a decade or so ago. It's next to impossible to find qualifying information on a vast majority of available products, these days. The scum bags that clutter the internet with their short-sighted, self serving lies really bother me. It just makes searching for information and actual reviews incredibly difficult. The fact that they probably trick millions of people, pisses me off even more.

Your videos helped me so much, in replacing my 6 year old flattened chair from Staples. I was able to get a Steelcase Amia for $339 in great condition at a Furniture Warehouse type store!
The bummer about most of the Eames knock-offs is that their lack of comfort does the original injustice. The real ones are pretty comfy (aside from the table-edge-eating arms).
Interesting. Is that why nearly every list you see of "best of" has like 20 different models, each with "best for this" and "best for that" and "best overall" and "best for sitting between 9:45 a.m. and 10:13 a.m. on a Tuesday while wearing plaid PJs"?
weird because I'm sitting in the Duramont chair right now (although my chair's wheels are different than the one you have) and I've had this thing for like 3 years and never had any back pain, and the seat is perfectly fine to me. Though, I am not a tall person, so perhaps it's better suited for someone under 5'6" ? But I've been very happy with this chair. And to be fair, you admit it's not actually a Duramont, it's a Sihoo, so I wonder if the seat really is different between the two? Because my Duramont seat absolutely does NOT feel like a brick.
Thanks for the video! Almost bought that Duramont chair which did not realized had different names on Amazon. Was fooled by the Amazon choice rating too. You saved me some money. I probably will go with the Ticova Ergonomic chair for a more cheaper option. Did not want to spend crazy amount of money. Downloaded your chair guide and that was helpful. Thanks again for your work on this.
This is exactly why I appreciate your channel, good arguments! I just bought my first ergonomic chair (Gesture), unfortunately I sent it back because I didn't like the backrest. I'm very annoying because I can't find a solution to try the different models (Steelcase/Herman Miller) in France...
If you found the Gesture's backrest too aggressive, you could have a look at the Leap v2 or Amia. If you are able to take advantage of free returns (including shipping fees), then you should try every Herman Miller/Steelcase chair that you desire.
I have to speak up about that last chair, the Homall Gaming Chair. I made the mistake of getting one years ago because they were real cheap at $100, and ticked very basic requirements of height and weight capacity. But it's straight up garbage. You buy the thing, and you may as well just throw it right in the trash without even sitting on it. It's not a chair, it's a money trap.
I always shake my head when I read those best of lists, a lot of times I am like they definitely never used any of these chairs or they don't know better ones exist out there.
5:36 when I got this chair and sat on it the lumbar support was digging into my spine so I removed it (hardest thing I've ever done) but then there was no support for my back at all. I ended up getting a lumbar support pillow to stuff it behind the mesh and now it's somewhat bearable. I also got the aloudy cushions for the armrests but it really sucks that they're height-adjustable only.
Is it really worth investing in a good chair (1000$+) (SteelCase or Herman Miller) if I WFH all the time? is it really that good to pay that premium price? My budget is open but just trying to justify the price tag.
It is, more comfortable and in the long run it will help your body to be supported thr right way so you in maybe 10-15 years dont develope neck/back-pains. A chair like the Amia looks like a solid pick. I went for the embody myself after using Håg RH05 and Kinnarps 6000 and embody is so much better. (Expect the chair I received has a real bad squeeking noise that im mid RMA with)
The main thing to look out for when buying an ergonomic office chair is the warranty. If the warranty makes up for the price of the chair, then it's definitely worth it. Say if u were to buy a $100 chair that has a 1-year warranty (even I think a 1-year warranty is pretty generous for a $100 chair), compared to a $1000+ chair that has a 12-year warranty, you're gonna be buying the same chair again and again over the lifetime of a single good office chair that will last u over 12 years. Plus, it's also better for the environment (less waste). Also, high-end office chairs from reputable brands (HM, Steelcase, Hayworth, etc.) will pretty easily last way longer than the amazing 12-year warranty that they have. I've seen chairs from HM and Steelcase lasting upwards of 30 years! Now that is an excellent value if I do say so myself. So, it may seem expensive now, but keep in mind that buying a good office chair is an investment, not an expense (investment for your back/health). It helps reduce/prevent back problems when u grow older. A good way to see if buying a chair is worth it is to just calculate their per year cost. Let's just say $1,500 and divide that by their 12-year warranty. That comes to a per year cost of only $125!!! I think most people even spend more money per year on their mobile plan than that lol. Additionally, as I mentioned b4, these high-end chairs typically outlast their 12-year warranty, so if u were to take good care of your chair and manage to make it last 30 years, that's only $50 a year! $50 a year just to invest in a good ergonomic chair that will take good care of your back for the next 30 years. I don't even need to tell u that this is extremely worth it.
Riding a remanufactured Leap v2 here, day 3 in the chair. I'm giving this chair a 2 week time frame to see if the pain stops. Currently, it is the most uncomfortable chair I've ever sat in. However, I did my homework before getting this and knew to expect a period of adjustment for my body, coming from cheaper chairs that weren't good for one's posture. Right now Ibuprofen seems to be the key to getting comfy in this chair. I can say going the remanufactured route, the chair was almost half, the brand-new price, and it comes with a 12 year warranty, just like the brand-new ones and it's from Steelcase approved seller. Just for specs, I'm 6'3" and weight around 375 Lbs. (mostly fat) and just barely fit into this chair. I echo someone else's comment, that these guys should have mentioned alternatives to some of the chairs they are talking about in this video. Good luck on your hunt!
@@gallorumrex You probably should not have picked Leap V2 which is actually one of their 5 recommended chairs for petite people which means the Leap V2 may not be for big and tall folks. Btod does have recommendations of big and tall chairs, you can try finding that video.

@@CP-zb3ky im 190cm and 120kg. i was thinking about getting either a haworth fern or a herman miller mirra 2. not sure yet.. do u got any suggestion for me?
i can confirm that gaming chairs are awful for gaming. Bucket seats are impossible to get comfortable in for someone with wide shoulders. Been rocking a Haworth Soji recently since i both work at home and game and i can confirm the only reason people are comfortable in gaming chairs is because they haven't sat in them for more than 8 hours for work and gaming.
Glad I have been doing research before buying a new computer chair and I am going to basically be forced into an Embody for my height basically. I was looking at a gesture and it wouldnt be a good fit for my height and weight. But I was looking at it because of lists like this.
Things I need for gaming, low latency ram, good video card, mechanical keyboard, quiet computer, high refresh HDR screen, mouse that's not purchased from a supermarket. Funny, don't see bucket gaming chair on this list. Requirement for a gaming chair, being able to sit in it for long periods of time, in other words, not a "bucket gaming chair". All review sites in trash media are scams, but it's funny, you would think that trash media people do actually use office chairs and know about their function, maybe they are good at reviewing coffee machines.
Avoid Clatina Chairs. The company is trash. If your chair breaks they won't honor their own policies. They went as far as to tell me that they'll send me a new replacement chair even though all I asked for was a replacement part (I was willing to fix the chair myself), they told me the new chair was shipped, and then 2 weeks later when it didn't arrive, I asked for a tracking number and they told me they changed the policy and would not send me a replacement chair. Even though they told me they had already shipped it. Total scam company. Avoid!
Yeah all the best lists for office chairs are pretty god awful. Yes Herman Miller and Steelcase chairs are good, but their price value is kind low, the same for hayworth whatever. However no one wants to talk about the real best chairs because they cost a fortune and there is no marketing reward for it. Very few people sell them too. *looks at BTOD* Also any list that says "best gaming chair" is god awful. There is no good gaming chair, bearing in mind I am literally sitting in a secret lab titan xl right now (supposedly the best gaming chair ever according to most) and trust me this is the first and last time I ever buy one. I have set on stone benches that were more comfortable.
Ugh idk what to get. I just want a great comfortable chair for at home gaming. I can get a refurbished leap 2 which I'm considering but there's so many that "look" more comfortable.
You should add OdinLake Ergo ART 643: Good looking chair, but BAD as hell, your lower back and butt cheeks will have a VERY unpleasant time during working hours.
Im a new subscriber but looking through your channel, i dont think you guys have ever done a video for the best chair with a headrest/ for neck pain yet which is what im in the market for. My posture has been really bad due to alot of factors like inactivity, but also having the most awful cheap office chair for years now and im ready to finally start healing my spine with a proper chair that supports me fully. Sorry for the rant haha but please help!!
For backpains, you have to sit in many many chairs within return period to find it out and it will take awhile - from someone who has scoliosis but haven't have any treatment.
Ideally, *THE* best _ERGONOMIC_ office chair is a chair made of mesh, has a high-back - w/fixed headrest, adjustable lumbar support, and fixed armrests. Fixed armrests adds to the stability. However, because of BTODtv *I went from **_function over form to form over function._*
That sounds like the opposite of an ergonomic chair. A chair with a fixed headrest and fixed arms will only be ergonomic for the small percentage of people that can fit the chair without needing to adjust it. I agree that mesh backs are great but not mesh seats. They are uncomfortable for a lot of people and can cause tailbone issues. -Ryan
@@btodtv Maybe some of the hi-end chairs where the armrests are much more sturdier. But think of this, my chair at work is 15 years old. The armrests have remained in the exact same position for 15 years. Never made any specific adjustments. I treat them as if they were in a fixed position. With that said, the armrests are awful. Always moving or wiggling. And they're not broken.
@@SooperFlye That is the purpose of an ergonomic chair. You set it once when you get it. And then you keep those settings forever, or until you have an accident and need to change posture. You're not supposed to change the settings every day. But you need the chair to be adjustable on that first use. If you want to completely get rid of the adjustments, then you need the chair built on measure for you like a costume. Or you are lucky enough that a fixed chair matches your body. But you are an exception.
unsurprisingly, this is more like a paid list...i mean, just skip right to the gaming chair category and you know right away it's a scam.... that shitty random gaming chair is just a low tier model gaming chair... besides, gaming chair in general are not even comfortable to begin with....even the expensive ones can easily give people back and neck pain... so, forbes, read it only if you find it entertaining....
Well shit, im glad i didn't get that duramont. Almost bought it to lol. Still looking for a replacement chair, thought i had scored with the steelcase series 1 that i got for $175 lightly used but the chair while fixing my upper back pain (bad work accident back injury) started to give me constant lower back pain right at the belt line. Which sucks cuz I actually like that chair.
Love how a channel that makes money off of selling specific chairs made a whole video complaining about Forbes adding chairs that they make money off of to their list.... The irony.

@@CP-zb3ky im 190cm and 120kg. i was thinking about getting either a haworth fern or a herman miller mirra 2. not sure yet.. do u got any suggestion for me?
I was just looking for ergohuman review which this channel has.
In the process I also found this gem video roasting clickbaity website. 😂
i can confirm that gaming chairs are awful for gaming. Bucket seats are impossible to get comfortable in for someone with wide shoulders. Been rocking a Haworth Soji recently since i both work at home and game and i can confirm the only reason people are comfortable in gaming chairs is because they haven't sat in them for more than 8 hours for work and gaming.
Most best of lists are incorrect
Govee here. Hope you’re liking the glide lights 😎 And thanks for all the chair info.
What would be the best office chair for under 300€?
Check their other videos....
Glad I have been doing research before buying a new computer chair and I am going to basically be forced into an Embody for my height basically. I was looking at a gesture and it wouldnt be a good fit for my height and weight. But I was looking at it because of lists like this.
That last comment had me rolling.. Sat down and spun around on it? They have to be trolling… they can’t be serious😂
I’ve used an aeron for 11 years. Highly recommend.
Avoid!
"If you like a warm, numb sensation going down your leg, get a bucket seat racing chair!"
my 1st chair duroment (sihoo)
im from india
now i watched this video now i found its a scam chair for 110 $
5'10" almost 300 lbs and I use a gesture every day. I find it very comfortable! But if I gained 100 lbs, who's to say. Lol.
More like this please. That was great.
Somebody loves paid advertisements a little too much.
Thank you for calling out forbes
Forbes is the international version of your local "independent" real estate magazine that all the realtors and lendors featured in it pay for it.
Yeah dude never mind that this channel is a bunch of dudes that make money directly from selling overpriced chairs..... Forbes though.... am I right?
Yeah all the best lists for office chairs are pretty god awful. Yes Herman Miller and Steelcase chairs are good, but their price value is kind low, the same for hayworth whatever. However no one wants to talk about the real best chairs because they cost a fortune and there is no marketing reward for it. Very few people sell them too. *looks at BTOD*
Also any list that says "best gaming chair" is god awful. There is no good gaming chair, bearing in mind I am literally sitting in a secret lab titan xl right now (supposedly the best gaming chair ever according to most) and trust me this is the first and last time I ever buy one. I have set on stone benches that were more comfortable.
Thanks for an honest review of Forbes' "review".
These guys are chair salesman..... Forbes is not..... Who do you believe most?
I have 3 steelcase gesture chairs and absolutely love ‘em. At work i sit in a steelcase Amia and enjoy it too. Great series
Steelcase's chairs are still unmatched IMO
Ugh idk what to get. I just want a great comfortable chair for at home gaming. I can get a refurbished leap 2 which I'm considering but there's so many that "look" more comfortable.
Made me laugh. Thanks for the reviews guys.
You should add OdinLake Ergo ART 643: Good looking chair, but BAD as hell, your lower back and butt cheeks will have a VERY unpleasant time during working hours.
This wasn't nearly as bad as CNET's list, but their top picks for each category were laughable.
I can tell this guy is telling the truth because that impressive mustache.
Bloody cool chennel!
They did a video recently, where they ranked chair headrests using a tier list.
Probably best to check out the chairs they have listed in S/A tier.
@@StardustLegacyFighter im sorry to bother, but do you mind linking that video?? I cant find it
Edit: i actually found it sorry but thanks :)
For backpains, you have to sit in many many chairs within return period to find it out and it will take awhile - from someone who has scoliosis but haven't have any treatment.
Keep doing this!
Is there anybody at BTODtv that's not six feet or taller? Your picks may not be as comfortable for us shorter people as they are for y'all 🙂

The Hon murdered my back.
Switched to the Embody which has been brilliant.
unsurprisingly, this is more like a paid list...i mean, just skip right to the gaming chair category and you know right away it's a scam.... that shitty random gaming chair is just a low tier model gaming chair... besides, gaming chair in general are not even comfortable to begin with....even the expensive ones can easily give people back and neck pain... so, forbes, read it only if you find it entertaining....
Which sucks cuz I actually like that chair.
oh my
Is that Matt Damon?
When chatgpt does your research
Great video, just another example of how legacy media is dead... The entire article was prob written by ChatGPT too lol
Love how a channel that makes money off of selling specific chairs made a whole video complaining about Forbes adding chairs that they make money off of to their list.... The irony.
We bring in the chairs, we use them, we compare them and then we are honest about them. That’s not what Forbes did here. This would be no different than us making a list on the best websites to buy stocks, not using any of them and then linking out to them in hopes that you click on them so that we can make money. We are not qualified to make a list like that. The same goes for Forbes and this list. -Ryan
@@btodtv OOOOOOOOH!!!!!! So your big brain arguments are as follows:
Ryan from BTODtv - "We bring in the chairs, we use them, we compare them and then we are honest about them. That’s not what Forbes did here."
Me - (sarcastically) "Oh dude totally. In no way shape or form did Forbes of all places buy these chairs and test them. Because there's no way they have a bunch of people using office chairs at their office. It just doesn't make sense....." 🙄
Ryan from BTODtv - "This would be no different than us making a list on the best websites to buy stocks, not using any of them and then linking out to them in hopes that you click on them so that we can make money. We are not qualified to make a list like that. The same goes for Forbes and this list."
Me - (sarcasm aside) "I think with an argument like this it's pretty apparent you're not qualified to tell me where to invest my money. All the way down to my chair investment. Your argument still fails against the original point I made which is that you yourself have affiliate links. Links that, in your own words, are there 'in hopes that you click on them so that we can make money'. So Ryan are you telling me that your links are somehow different from their links? Because they're not. Also note that you have listed a whole bunch of affiliate links to items not even associated with this video. You're a chair salesman, so why are you linking to all of these items you are not an expert on Ryan? Again, as you say 'We are not qualified to make a list like that'. Stay in your lane Ryan. Then lets talk about how right underneath those links is a disclaimer that reads: 'We are an office furniture dealer and sell some of the products we review.' So Ryan should I trust a salesman more than Forbes? A company who isn't selling the thing they reviewed or a company who's sole purpose is to sell me this item? If anything every point you made completely undermines your own argument and your company model, at the very least here on RUclips,"
So.... do you want to keep arguing? Because the more we talk the more you look like the least trusted chair reviews on RUclips. I mean, if that wasn't the case before. I know it was for me.

Ryan be like "I'm a chair expert! I can sit!" 🤤
One of us might be a troglodyte Ryan.
Thank you for saving us😂
this crap cost a lot of money!
You people have unlimited budgets and have high and mighty discriminating tastes. I want an American made in the USA product that I can get years of satisfaction from. America’s stores are closing putting people out of work so Who makes a chair here
LOL! 🤣
Yeah their “best of” lists are designed to sell products. Totally scummy. Unlike the lists you guys put out, that are designed to… sell products. I do really love the irony of this video tho, thank you. Lemme check out some of those sweet affiliate links, maybe grab a refurb’d Leap from your store.
Do you think a list of products from 2 people that have never seen any of the products in the list is as valuable as a list from people that have used every product they review? I would personally never take product advice from someone who has never seen the product. You are just as educated as these authors on these chairs but they present themselves as experts in order get you to buy into the information that they are presenting. Like you said it’s Totally scummy. -RB
What a stupid comment. 🤦♀️
Lol looks like this guy is missing the plot. Get ur facts straight b4 trying to hate on BTOD for attention
@@btodtv That’s a good point that you guys are reviewing them from experience. I see the distinction, but that also wasn’t really my criticism. How do you ensure you’re being impartial when reviewing products you also sell or make monetary gain from? Are you not incentivized to encourage purchases of that product?
@@kristophersouza8104 Maybe it's because they genuinely like the Leap v2 a lot, and are therefore more than happy to recommend it and promote the chair via affiliate links?
Stop being so cynical.
