Got a V1 Uplift desk almost 10 years ago and it has been serving me well but now it is time to upgrade from a 48x30 top to a 60x30 or even a 72x30 and I like that I have that option with the frame being expandable to those lengths and with a weight capacity of 355 lbs the hard wood top I have picked out from Lowes will easily work while still being able to support all of my gear on top. The mark up on tops though is crazy considering I can get a full 72x30 butcherblock top from Lowes for about $250 and a similar sized hard wood top from any of the desk brands usually runs an extra $500 to $1000 if not more. Yes the top from lowes is only stained and I still have to apply a finish to it but that is only about another $30 to $60 depending on the quantity and quality of the finish, and yes I have to make sure everything is lined up and drill my own holes rather then having pre drilled holes but $250 vs $740 for the same size and wood type is a crazy difference. I would honestly suggest to anyone that wants a quality motorized desk to see about just getting the frame alone and buying a hard wood countertop of your size of choice. You can get the Uplift V2 commercial frame with the support bar for $550, or even the Vivo frame from amazon for $200 and then check your local hardware store for a top. Just keep in mind a large hard wood top is going to weigh around 70 pounds itself so keep in mind the weight limit of the frame you go with. The cheapest BTOD frame I could find was $740 which tells me they know people could just get an inexpensive wood top so I would avoid that one unless you just want the voice commands. If you dont have a local hardware store you can get a top from or you dont have the ability to DIY the top then I would go with one of the options that offer the best warrantee and in home setup. Though it is going to cost you.
I got myself the E2Q from flexispot recently. thanks to standing on 4 legs and its massive (thus sadly very heavy heavy, just had to carry it to a different room alone lmao..)it is very very stable, which is something I highly value as someone who while working usually might wanna have an intense gaming session once in a while as well.
I just installed a fully Jarvis l desk, has support frames along both bottoms. Is super solid, you should do an l desk version of this video. Love the channel, long-time watcher and just purchased a returb amia from you all, hoping i like it!
Great reviews - have watched many of your videos on standing desks and office chairs before pulling the trigger on my purchases. One desk I haven't seen you review is the Flexispot E7. I ended up buying one after seeing other online reviews and I think it's money well spent. I would be interested in your opinion on this desk.
I've bought only legs for $400 from local Czech company, because all those other tables are tiny. My current desk weights over 50kg and is 250cm wide and I couldn't find and other good two beam legs that could support over 120kg. Very happy with my purchase.
Need a desk, Amazon has sales right now. Started looking for a channel that can save me research time, pumped to have found your channel. You and project farm are the jam - Sub’d!
After a whole lot of digging and watching Ahnestly’s review I’m gonna get a Deskhaus Apex Pro base (which is pricey at $900) and a 6 ft slab of finished walnut with live edges from a lumber yard. Super excited to build it.
I have a 72"x30" Commercial T Frame Desk from Uplift. I absolutely love it. It looks fantastic and the motors are extremely fast and the build quality is great too. I plan on buying another for my son. They have a 15 year warranty! I don't agree with you putting it in B Tier. I would say it's an solid A Tier.
This is a pretty good review, but sadly incomplete. I love the focus on the electronic, motor and frame manufacturers. If most of these makers would be upfront about their choices, it would make it easier for people to choose the best fit. Steelcase Migration SE seems to be the preferred lower-price option rather than the Solo. Sad that it wasn't included in the review. I understand that you can't review everything, but no mention of the Haworth Upseide? Deskhaus Apex ? Evodesk ? Vari Electric ? Ergonofis Sway ? I feel these are all B tier or better and should either have included or at least mentioned. No 4-leg options? They blow Newheights out of the water in terms of stability and are much cheaper. Some can even be had for about the same money as those A-tier. Think you can have a review of those down the line?
There will be more tier lists. It's hard to include every desk that our audience might have an interest in learning more about in a single video. It would be VERY long. The good news is that we are consistently putting out content on standing desks again, so you can plan on seeing most products at some point in time. Like mentioned above, no four leg desk options yet. But we will cover them. That's a pretty strong statement about blowing NewHeights out of the water for stability if your only criteria is the desk needs four legs. I have a lot of experience with both types of desks. I was the first to look at these products, with Uplift and Vivistand being the only real options early on in 2017 and 2018. As I explained back then, the four post standing desks that were available were not stable. The new stability issue was created with post legs, since the frame was easily twisted and the post legs moved around too much. My suggestion was adding two feet, to tie together the legs on each side of the frame. I'm glad to see brands have done this now and it will help a lot, but it doesn't guarantee they are all stable. Column fit, having or not having cross supports, wedges or no wedges, poor connections to surface, strength of foot, etc. will all have an impact on how stable they really are. Just assuming four leg standing desks are superior would be short sighted without actually using the desks you're referencing in real life. Especially when you're putting it up against the most stable desk two leg desk we've tested on the WobbleMeter. I'm not saying there isn't a more stable 4 leg option out there, I'm just saying there are other reasons they might not be as stable as you think they are. -Greg
@@btodtv I agree that "4-legs good, 2-legs bad" is a very generic statement that merits expanding upon. As you mentioned, the importance of proper column fit (and quality glides...) and cross support/wedge/etc contruction are tremendously important - the vivistand 4-leg is most defenitly a poster-child of how to do the 4-leg design poorly - however, in those more serious companies offering quality 4-legs like Uplift, Evodesk, Flexispot, Deskhaus and so on, the price difference with Newheights is staggering. But only, as I mentioned, in terms of stability. Not bashing on the quality of their construction and components, the white glove treatment, the long warraty. Those are very well worth the price to the right customer. I guess what I wish would happen with these tier lists is to have a per general price-point tier-list rather than a 200$ hot garbage (looking at you SHW) to 7000$ money-is-no-option comparisons. I can build a 2500$ hackingtosh that stands toe-to-toe with a 5000$ Mac, but for my computer needs, as a general consumer, I'm in the market for what's best at 1500-2000$. Similarly, for standing-desks asking which desk is best at 1000$ + or - 500$ gives you as many options as you have presented here, while avoiding the absolute trash that was included and the out of most people's reach that are the NewHeights S and the Ergonofis Alive. These products are marketed to different consumers. Another tier list could be made for the 2000+/-500 as well and so on. Despite your conflict of interest, I still think that your reviews are great, thoughtful and educational, but I really do wish to see a more tiered tier-list for the different category of people making the rounds trying to figure out how to really maximize their dollars given their situation. I certainly can't spring 7K$ on a desk (I wish :P) , but don't have enough here for a proper decision on which 2000$ option will get me the best desk.
Having two desks with four legs is a game changer. The Evo desk pro has a nice smooth mechanism when going up and down and seems pretty stable side to side and front to back.
This is great and all but what about the L desk version. Those are the ones im really interested in because this type desk isnt even close to big enough for me.
I like this channel a lot and the chair tier list videos really helped me upgrade my office chair. That being said, I have to play devils advocate. A tables #1 priority should be stability. To place the Alive, Solo and Renew in higher tiers over more stable tables screams FANBOY. It does not matter if a warranty is great if you are buying an unstable table? You are paying for the white glove treatment with HM when their table is over 2k. I hope future videos are less biased towards HM and SC. The quality of their chair tier videos still cannot be beat on RUclips.
Thanks for the kind words about the office chair content. I disagree on the fanboy standing desk take though. I agree stability is an important factor, we’ve been talking about stability long before it was on thing in the space. I have videos from 2017 wobbling and rocking all of the popular brands. But range of motion, capacity, component quality, warranty coverage, and a brands customer service are also very important. When the desk stops working, stability won’t mean much -Greg
Amazing video! I would love to have detailed information on each table writen in the video using kg/meter metrics. Also, might be a good idea to add more brand like SecretLab, or even try to review my local standing desk brand like PALMO, Kanata+, or UDesk would be appreciated ! Please keep it up your video!
Sad to see Fully shutting its doors. I had planned to buy one of their desks, but this will definitely push me toward Uplift since the surfaces and price points that made Fully a better option are now gone. A similar desk from Uplift is about $400 more, but it is still a decent price for the functionality.
Good note for anyone interested in Autonomous, they are extremely bad at support and especially replacement parts. Had one of their chairs and desks and both had part failures that seemed common due to wear and tear, but when looking to swap out - you need to still have your proof of purchase that meets their requirements to engage their support just to give them money for a spare part. Never had this experience with any other manufacturer.
Hey guys, great video! Any chance you'll be reviewing the Flexispot E7 any time soon? With Fully now gone from Europe, there doesn't seem to be much choice in the mid-tier category here...
We need a review of the Flexispot E7Q. I still don't have an adjustable height desk, because stability is of the utmost importancy for me. I want absolutely zero wobble in the sitting position. It needs to be rock solid like a stone. And I hope the E7Q will provide that.
@@josephphillips865 Thanks for the suggestion. I got a Flexispot E7Q with 4 motors. The thing weighs around 100 kg in total and can lift more than 200 kg. It's as solid as a rock.
@@P8qzxnxfP85xZ2H3wDRV That certainly looks sturdy. I wish I could try a few out before buying. What do you think of a 4 leg frame? Any issues with your legs touching the frame / center supports with the desk at the low setting / seated position? I currently have an IKEA T frame style but seriously considering something different.
@@josephphillips865I have absolutely no issues with the Flexispot E7Q. It doesn't wobble and the lifting action is butter smooth. After a lot of research, it was said to be the sturdiest one and it absolutely delivered. I paired it with a 4 cm thick oak tabletop, which adds even more sturdiness. Everyone who's seen the desk is super impressed that it doesn't even wobble in the standing position. Although, if you really shake it forcefully, you can make it wobble slightly in the standing position. Definitely not by just typing or touching it with your belly.
Great videos thankyou, when you do a tier list with multiple top competitors, could you give your personal choice for which you would buy today. Thats sort of the point of this whole research endeavor for me. so it would be great to hear your opinions since you have gone through all the time and effort to research it and would know best!
No plans to review anything from Deskhaus. Based on how unprofessional the owner of the brand is, I would never recommend anything from them. I would stick to Uplift if you're considering a 4 leg frame from Jiecang. It's the same electronics, motors and gears, with better stability, from one of the largest brands in the standing desk space -Greg
Don't understand why the EC7 from Flexispot doesn't make your list to rate... It is, in my opinion, very very good.. and they support it well with various accessories. Love 'em...
OMG! Thank you! Actually, I really like this desk over most others that I saw! They have a solid wood option as well as one with a wireless charger built in. How cool is that?
@@matttumolo820it wobbles but not much trust me. Even the good expensive ones wobble at max height that's just the con of a standing desk. But for 600 dollars I believe the e7 with bambo table top is worth it. The only thing worrying is the motor life and I can't handle it malfunctioning one day or dying
I found out that these folks have a very bad selection of options and rating. Sometimes they show the stability test of some desks as the main criteria to give bad rating to some desks and when the high end brands are not stable, they ignore them and give good rating to high end brands. I buy tools based on "Torque Test Channel" tests because the way the rating is done is clear and fair. BTOD should take example from them.
I really dig the NewHeights S series. However, all of these show either singe or dual monitors put on next to the other. Is there an high quality arm you'd recommend for a 38" wide screen monitor 21:9 on top of which is regular 16:9 24" monitor? In essence, it doesn't have to be an arm, rather a pole with two VESA mounts that can be adjusted vertically for the correct angle.
@@MOAB-UT Lazy!? LoL ...I am doing my own research by watching videos like this and there's no such arm in Microcenter. In essence, you just replied because your brain thought it needed to do so, yet the added value equaled zero. Think about it, a little bit. ;)
@@MrMilanina just because something costs more it doesn’t automatically make it better. I’m almost certain i could find a better desk for at least half the price if not even less.
I just bought an ElephantDesk, I'm curious to see what you think about the internals of this thing. It has really nice stability and a hardwood top for $800. It seems high quality but I'm certainly not tearing apart the internals to find out
You guys didn't even mention that for less than 1k your VertDesk3 is lifetime warrantied. the lateral stability bar does effect sitting ergonomics, especially for taller users, but for the price and warranty it is a very solid choice. It would be A tier easily if the lateral bar was more out of the way.
Good point. I tried to keep them all as short as possible, but still provide enough info on each of them. Otherwise you'd still be trying to get through the list! I think you would be surprised, based on the position of the cross support on the VertDesk, how it doesn't get in the way. It sits high enough to have your legs easily go under if you tuck in close to the desk. Only with 24" deep surfaces and a VERY tall person tucked in as close as possible (belly touching front edge) would you have a chance to hit your knees. Most wouldn't sit like this on a 24" deep desk though, since you'd be super close to your monitors. But if that was you, I'd consider the deeper surface if you want excellent lateral stability, since a cross support is the only way to do this through max height. Wedges in the upper portion of frame will only get you to about 44" tall. -Greg
Yep, the warranty was one of the reasons I got a Vertdesk v3+. As far as the bar getting in the way, I'm 6'2" and will second that with a 30" top and in a normal sitting position, it doesn't get in the way at all.
Ikea Idasen is a A tier for me. Its insane stable, heavy and big, at lower height its basically a steel heavy table. Im really happy with it, and every time i get to use other brands at work i realize as flimsy and badly build lighter standing desks are. If it had faster motors and better pilot it would be perfect.
Will you make a separate review or even leave a reply if you can, about the Vernal brand standing desks? I believe they are a newer company within the last few years, and I would like to find a review on the desk before I purchase but every review I find is sponsored by them! Even online, they sponsor everything which worries me a bit about their quality. They are lower end on the price, around $800 for an L-shaped 72” x 60”. Thanks!

I heard on another channel called Ahnestly that the Secretlabs are some of the most unstable standing desks - despite being very expensive. Even a slight bump and everything goes flying. Feel free to look it up.
You guys are so lucky in the US. Here in the EU most of these desk and chair brands doesnt exists. Also I just cant find any tierlists related to desks and chairs available here :(
great presentation, very informational thank you. As for the last desk they can keep it for that price and have it on sale for 1k when they need to pay the suppliers, what a joke ! unless you can also drive it to work which i doubt
Dumb complaint, but at these prices, there shouldn't be a cord dangling down the back of the desk. Run it up the columns. High end designs should look clean. The manufacturers need to step up their cable management.
Apparently the Idasen is one of the least wobbly ones, which is why I bought it years ago. It's not impossible that there are better ones now ofc. Also the hollow surface reduces the weight of it all, which makes moving easier (obviously), and in theory slightly increases how much you can put on the table and still lift it.
What do you guys think about the Uppeal 2-leg floor/sit/stand desk? I like that I could work from the floor with it but want to know what the build quality is like before purchasing.
What do you think about the IKEA UPPSPEL I am thinking about buying one and it will be one of the expensive pieces of my setup so I want your thoughts on it.
I like my flexispot standing desk e2, it was pricey for me given that I purchased it for almost $380 with discount. Overall, I’d buy flexispot again, but can’t justify the prices of those other top tier brand. It’s out of my price point range.
Is it silly for me to get a standing desk even if I just plan on sitting at it? I mainly just want something I can adjust to the perfect height for me.
Not silly at all. That's pro level ergonomics. It's popular to call them standing desks but they truly are "adjustable height desks". Getting the sitting position correct is VERY important. - RG

Unrealistic to not take price into consideration

@@btodtv you guys fucked up
Great reviews - have watched many of your videos on standing desks and office chairs before pulling the trigger on my purchases. One desk I haven't seen you review is the Flexispot E7. I ended up buying one after seeing other online reviews and I think it's money well spent. I would be interested in your opinion on this desk.
I would have love to get the price point of all presentes desk. It would save me a lot of time looking them up for my budget
Great video as usual guys! Would you have any thoughts on the Secret Lab Magnus Pro (apart from the tacky gamer aesthetic)?
Thank you! I plan to bring it in for testing. Without using it in real life, it is really hard to give an accurate take -Greg
was about to comment exactly this!
@@btodtv Great! I will look forward to that :)
hey any news on the secret labs testing?@@btodtv
Was hoping to see the Vernal standing desk reviewed here. Great reviews though, thank you for this video!
Why did you add the Flexispot EC 1instead of the E7 or E7 pro?
Great comparison between the desks. I was wondering how the Flexispot E7 pro would fit in this ranking?
It will be in a future Tier list. A lot of desks to cover yet :) -Greg
Would love to see an updated version of this includes the secret labs Magnus Pro, sit, stand desk!
When I saw all the standing desk I knew you done your research, I subscribed because you take this seriously
After a whole lot of digging and watching Ahnestly’s review I’m gonna get a Deskhaus Apex Pro base (which is pricey at $900) and a 6 ft slab of finished walnut with live edges from a lumber yard. Super excited to build it.
18:12 Full list of the desks.
Surprised Magnus pro desk isn't on the list.
Future tier list :) -Greg
Yeah there were a few others left off the list like the imovr lander and new heights elgante xt4.
I feel that the Magnus pro hits all the check boxes but stability. It shakes quite a bit and for that I do not recommend it.
@@btodtv Btw the magnus is garbage af for stability. I respect you guys alot hopefully you guys don’t put it on your top anything 👍
@@Criticalmaze do you own one ?
I have a 72"x30" Commercial T Frame Desk from Uplift. I absolutely love it. It looks fantastic and the motors are extremely fast and the build quality is great too. I plan on buying another for my son. They have a 15 year warranty! I don't agree with you putting it in B Tier. I would say it's an solid A Tier.
Thanks for sharing! But having seen more than 50+ desks, I would disagree, which is why it's B tier :) -Greg
A similar desk from Uplift is about $400 more, but it is still a decent price for the functionality.
so thorough! y'all have been consistently helpful to me when looking for office gear! thank you!
Glad we can help! -Greg
Love to see a review of the Desky desks 😮
We need a review of the Flexispot E7Q. I still don't have an adjustable height desk, because stability is of the utmost importancy for me. I want absolutely zero wobble in the sitting position. It needs to be rock solid like a stone. And I hope the E7Q will provide that.
VIVO makes a universal clamp on desk stabilizer that will fit just about any standup desk. It's about $70. It's on my purchase list.
@@P8qzxnxfP85xZ2H3wDRV I’m considering the E7 as well. I will be mainly using it for gaming. Is it really that solid?
Great videos thankyou, when you do a tier list with multiple top competitors, could you give your personal choice for which you would buy today. Thats sort of the point of this whole research endeavor for me. so it would be great to hear your opinions since you have gone through all the time and effort to research it and would know best!
Great video. I wish the frames themselves were a bigger focus since I already have the top. Also hope to see you guys do a best frame under x price.
Amazing review. Just what I needed.
Just found this channel, great content
Can you please review the deskhaus frames? They look really good
No plans to review anything from Deskhaus.
How’s the wobble?
@@matttumolo820minimal... the 4' is more stable than the 6.5' of course but I never notice a wobble on the 6.5' table
@@MOAB-UT Model and type, please.
@@MOAB-UT Lazy!? LoL
...I am doing my own research by watching videos like this and there's no such arm in Microcenter.
In essence, you just replied because your brain thought it needed to do so, yet the added value equaled zero. Think about it, a little bit. ;)
7 thousand dollars for a desk though? I’m almost certain there are better desks for far cheaper.
@@HaseebK0 Well, not so sure about being better, but I went with the newest Ikea desk.
It seems high quality but I'm certainly not tearing apart the internals to find out
this helped me a lot since I checked the IKEA Idasen in the physical store and it was quite unstable 'cause it was terribly mounted.
Any reviews on the Vari office desks?
I'm 6'6", literally the only thing I care about is which is most stable at max height, where is that video
Please do a standing L desk tier list
Agreed!
Do you have a review for any L-shaped adjustable desk?
Will you make a separate review or even leave a reply if you can, about the Vernal brand standing desks? I believe they are a newer company within the last few years, and I would like to find a review on the desk before I purchase but every review I find is sponsored by them! Even online, they sponsor everything which worries me a bit about their quality. They are lower end on the price, around $800 for an L-shaped 72” x 60”. Thanks!

Would love to hear your thoughts on the Secretlabs Magnus Pro XL desk!
I heard on another channel called Ahnestly that the Secretlabs are some of the most unstable standing desks - despite being very expensive. Even a slight bump and everything goes flying. Feel free to look it up.
@@TigerGreene I just watched a handful of videos on the Pro XL and they all said that it doesn't wobble like the earlier version.

great presentation, very informational thank you.
Vernal (unistation) is really good. (According to comparison test between it, Flexispot and ergotopia)
thank you man my budget is 300 so i just found out the one
what brand, not wobbly?
Apparently the Idasen is one of the least wobbly ones, which is why I bought it years ago.
It's not impossible that there are better ones now ofc.
Also the hollow surface reduces the weight of it all, which makes moving easier (obviously), and in theory slightly increases how much you can put on the table and still lift it.
I like the Idasen. But instead of the Idasen top, I got a Karlby. It works really well.
What do you guys think about the Uppeal 2-leg floor/sit/stand desk? I like that I could work from the floor with it but want to know what the build quality is like before purchasing.
What do you think about the IKEA UPPSPEL

Ok bot.
If you had to pick a frame (uplift vs flexispot), which one would you pick? Not going to buy a desktop from either of them.
Uplift -Greg
Commercial or V.2? And why?
Most likely the standard v2, unless you need the lower end range and better lateral stability on the commercial -Greg
I did ask the Uplift rep about this and he said “think commercial as a standard, not more ridged).
I like my flexispot standing desk e2, it was pricey for me given that I purchased it for almost $380 with discount. Overall, I’d buy flexispot again, but can’t justify the prices of those other top tier brand. It’s out of my price point range.
Any thoughts on the MojoDesk?
What monitor are you using on the arm on your s tier desk?
I’m not sure if Desky is available in the U.S. but if so could you please review it?😊
Hi what about the Effydesk, what category does that figure in
Is it silly for me to get a standing desk even if I just plan on sitting at it? I mainly just want something I can adjust to the perfect height for me.
Not silly at all. That's pro level ergonomics. It's popular to call them standing desks but they truly are "adjustable height desks". Getting the sitting position correct is VERY important. - RG
