Not a first time offender just first time convicted

Talk about " one man crime wave!"
Essentially, only the first count could be said to be a first time offence. What also needs to be taken into account was that this wasn't a one-off or spur-of-the-moment type thing. It was a long term plot and he signed numerous checks over a long period of time. It might also be taken into account that his company was sued for a huge long term fraud, so that shows that fraud was essentially a way of life for him rather than a deviation from good character.
That speaks volumes

Can't we call him a first-time convict? Every time he is referred to as a first-time offender, the part of me that has been waiting over 30 years for him to be held accountable reaches up from my gut and sqeezes my heart in a life threatening manner.
Unfortunately, prosecutors probably always knew that taking this guy to court would be super expensive for the people because of the way this pumpkin head appeals every single thing. He has indeed been getting away with many many things for approximately 50 years. You don't have to dismantle it, it's already stopped doing what it's supposed to do. What we need on the Supreme Court, is Justices, NOT INJUSTICES.

Since we’re not getting any of our other cases heard this year, I’m with you, I think if there were more than one guilty criminal case that came through this year the judge would consider that and lower his sentencing a bit since his wasn’t the only one.

I've been thinking about this and may have gotten this wrong, not being a legal expert. I know that a judge can dismiss a case with prejudice but can they sentence with prejudice to stop unnecessary future litigation?

Personally, I've never understood why Supreme Court justices are appointed for life .... They have too much power to be appointed for life. It seems obvious to me that it would be a bad idea to do that. 10 years max.
