- Masks ahoy! Today we're opening a rare Kanohi Nuva/Krana Kal pack from 2002/2003, which has the chance to contain a valuable Protodermis mask. What surprises are in store this time? #bionicle #lego #unboxing

it's rare to find someone else who loves the Hau Nuva as much as I do. My white whale is the Pearl Silver Hau Nuva, which I still can't believe I own!

All the nuva masks are based on the hau and the ruru. The profile angles especially give it away.
I really miss this kind of stuff in bionicle. I missed the mask packs since I only really was able to get figures from Metru Nui onwards, but I loved getting the Kanoka Disks. Wish they had Mask Packs for every year...
Some of the promo art for metru nui shows the metru style Matoran masks in different colours, so i wonder if there was a plan to release the masks, at least at one point.

This was so cool to see. I recently completed my Mata, Turaga, and Nuva mask collections. Now onto to the misprints, kanoka disks, and rhotuka spinners! I really like your display stand too. I might have to add something to my Lego Art style plates I built for mine.
Wow, great work! I didn't want to get into Kanoka but I keep seeing them for sale and it's hard to resist. A full set of those seems super hard to complete though...
the miru and gali designs are still my fav nuva masks.
Gali's mask is Kanohi Kaukau.
The shadow Toa are basically each of the Toa recreated in black. I wonder if you can recreate each of the Toa in all 5 of the other colors (besides their base color lol)? Tahu, Lewa, and Kopaka would be tough with the swords/axes
Mmmm, those black Lewa Nuvas could make excellent shoulder pads. Never pass up matching armor.
I congratulate you on resisting the temptation open it before hand. I would have opened it straight away to see if the masks I need are in there
Until today, I had often thought that these polybags were the only way to get alternate colors of the Kanohi Nuva masks. But I realized that the first Bionicle "Parts tub" (8711) released in 2004, contained the red and green Akaku Nuva and the silver Miru Nuva, (even though you already have each of those) and three of the Pakari Nuva in its standard color of black. But more surprisingly, this tub was also the final set to have the Toa Mata eye stock piece in the transparent pink which had originated in Tahu and Turaga Vakama. As for the Krana-Kal, I only had a "Ja-Kal" in metallic blue and a "Xa-Kal" in the pearl white that you have. The "Vu-Kal" in "warm gold" could also be obtained in Nuhvok-Kal (8573), though the Bionicle theme wouldn't start using that color in actual characters until 2006.
Whoa seriously? I'd heard the Miru was in some kind of promo but that's the first time hearing about it being in a parts tub. Definitely explains why that mask alone is basically worthless. Is that tub set inventoried anywhere?
@@BonkleCollector I had never seen a detailed inventory until I found one on a database called "Rebrickable". The tub's official name is "Master Accessory Kit" (8711), and it contains 702 pieces in total. Some other noted elements included are the additional appearances of the medium blue "Voodoo Hook" from the Technic Super Battle Droid (8012), several purple Krana, and the transparent blue Bohrok face plate from Gahlok (8562). But oddly, it contains every color of the Bohrok/Bohrok-Kal torso frames, except the Mata blue ones. There are ten Mata red ones, eight white ones, eight black ones, seven Mata green ones, and six Mata brown ones. However, the "Water Shields" and the Mata blue Bohrok feet aren't present. But this was also the only other place to get the Mata red "Stone Shields" from Gahdok (part of 8558), and the black Bohrok limbs from Nuhvok-Kal (8573). It is also the only other set to have the Krana holders in Mata blue, Mata green, and Mata red, the sand blue Toa Mata feet, the 2003 Matoran torsos in, tan, white and medium blue, and the "Electricity Shields" from Tahnok-Kal (8574)-which were otherwise exclusive to that set.
Amazing insight as usual! Any idea why Bricklink refuses to inventory that parts tub? I rely on Bricklink for a lot of info, but they're listing that particular tub as "cannot be inventoried". Not just "inventory not added", the site is literally blocking it. Did the contents of the tub have some kind of variety?
@@brickthumbBL doesn’t allow inventories of variety packs cause they vary so much. Older ones from the 70s literally had a chance of any given piece, so trying to confirm concise parts/colors would be a huge undertaking, requiring tons of sealed ones to be opened just to be inventoried

6:24 Weirdly to me the slightly yellowed one looked better. Like the slightly darker color allows it to catch the shadows better which better shows off the sculpting which isn’t as apparent otherwise
Congrats on the milestone! I know you mentioned trading, but are you interested in selling your duplicates? Also black Gali Nuva is one of the best masks, hands down.

@@Bill-oj6vjHonestly i'm not sure. I love adding to my Tahnok army, so I'lll never trade/sell them. For the others...it's good to have some extras laying around to raid for parts, and a lot of my dupe sets aren't in the best condition anyway. Maybe some day!

Was going through my technic/bionicle collection and found a bronze-gold (maybe the copper color?) pohatu mask... no clue where I got it.
This is currently my favourite video series. For how much does the silver duplicate go? And were there any hidden gems in the first mail or are just the gen1 masks the most valuable ones? Im not deep into the Bionicles topic so apologies for any confusion

You know what no one really likes bionicle anymore so I’m happy to see that someone is still into it cause I just got a big haul of bionicle and I love it. Also I got a copper mask. Also, can you tell me the price of copper masks? I really want to know.
Congrats on the haul! Which mask is it? The copper Huna is around $10, the copper Komau is much more, anywhere from $50-$100!

Huh, I had a bunch of the protodermis mask including the hau nuva and didn't know that I was sitting on hundreds of dollars had they not gotten yardsaled.
