      About 7 minutes in, you said it's a worse deal than last year to buy at preorder, but... If last year the trade of the prior Ultra gave $550, and this year it's $750, and the price jumped $100, it's a $100 better deal at net.

    The AI features coming to the S23 Ultra in a few more months really make it pointless to upgrade. If you have an older or worse phone, it might be worth it. Without the AI features, you're really just left with battery life, camera quality, and processing power/speed as the main things to look for. The S23 Ultra is pretty good on all of those things, at least at this current point in time.

    I can understand Samsung wanting to use their own chip, but it's a shame for us here in Europe because it makes the choice a little more difficult. What I really don't like is paying a first class price and getting a second class product. If Samsung acted the same all over the world, it would be different, but I get annoyed when I get treated badly on a local level.
    However, it's important to say that the Exynos 2400 isn't that bad and at least in the tests I've seen so far, it beats the Tensor 3. Also, as far as AI cloud services are concerned, it has to be said that this will eventually affect everyone in some way. A look at Google's past also shows that you are not safe from this kind of development here either. That's why I base my purchasing decisions primarily on the hardware and the functions that really run on device. Neither Samsung nor Google with their cloud functions really impress me. For example, if I want to edit my pictures, I can do that on my PC, I don't need the cloud to do it for me.

    • @gregorsamsa1364
      @gregorsamsa1364 9 месяцев назад

      I don't know how much titanium is in it but i read that the iphone has about $30 worth. I figure the amount in the Samsung is probably comparable. So i guess you probably have about $30, plus any potential increase in the cost of working with the titanium, minus the cost of the aluminum that the titanium replaced.
      Edit: so apparently titanium is about 10x more expensive. So approximately a $27 increase in materials cost, plus any potential increase in manufacturing costs due to working with the titanium vs aluminum. I'd be curious to know that answer

    Hi. You are echoing my concerns on the S24/S24+ over here in the UK. I have the S23+ since last year & it's fantastic compared to the S22+ by a mile imo. I have purchased the 24 Ultra 512 GB for £1349 value. Total value with the free watch, strap, leather case & screen protector came to & £1711. Ouch! I ended up paying £858 which is reasonable as I kept my S23+ & trade in the S22+, which was my backup device. I would have gone for the S24+ but the reversion to the Exynos this year stopped me. A prime example of brands annoying their loyal customers with unfathomable business practices. Great content as usual. You are a top notch creator in my book. 😊

    There are people that already benchmarked the Exynos chip and the chip is amazingly good compared to the last gen. Surprisingly Exynos Surpasses SDG3 buy a LOT in Raytracing performance like by a lot. And the Temps are actually what is expected of a chip with this performance. Most "AI" features of the S24-Series are a nice-to-have gimmick, but i don't think that that anyone will find them useful enough to actually pay for them after 2024. The only useful "AI" feature that i see people actually using more than once or twice is the Google Scan/Lens or whatever function to search for items. But that's it and this feature will be free to use on Google Pixel phones anyway.
    So unless Samsung will add some crazy, mind-blowing and super useful AI-feautures with an update later that year, Samsung AI will go down in history as a big overhyped marketing fail.

    • @Lion_Hamza
      @Lion_Hamza 10 месяцев назад

      I remember once owning a Samsung flagship that hade a function called air touch. You could hoover your hand over the display and select stuff that way. It was absolutely useless. Samsung tends to do this. They implement weirdo futures and scrap them later on. They even give you options that they later quietly remove (bitrate high quality videos). Then they implement futures like 10 time optical zoom but later go back to 5 times optical zoom and charge more. They many times don’t make sense

  • @seanburns1972
    @seanburns1972 10 месяцев назад +5

    I think the AI features are always half baked out the box. I also wish Samsung had stuck with 10x zoom on Ultra and given the Plus model a 5x zoom. That would make Plus a perfect phone in terms of size design and specs. As for Exynos iy varies cos some reviews stated S23FE Exynos version had better image quality than Snapdragon which was over sharpened and Exynos has little more noise but was more natural sharpening

      I traded in my s22ultra for the s23ultra last year at pre-order. And I can say the battery optimization on the s23ultra is way better than the s22ultra. I would say if you do trade, I'd definitely go for the s24ultra. I was gonna upgrade but the difference between the 23 and 24 is not that great. Plus the pricing is BS! Especially for a loyal customers who upgrades every year. I really don't care about the AI crap I'm sure a lot of those features will come to the s23ultra and the s22ultra. I think I'm gonna wait on the 25.

I called Samsung technical support and the person I talked to said that whatever AI is on the phone already by the end of 2025 will be still be usable for free, but at or after that time there may be AI upgrades available that may have to pay for it you want them. It seemed to me that the disclaimer regarding the AI features being free until the end of 2025 had a lot to do with Samsungs third party agreements with the vendors who are providing a lot of that technology more so than them just arbitrarily deciding to charge a fee for it starting in 2026. When those agreements expire Samsung can no longer guarantee those services will be free hence the disclaimer. Either way they could do a better job clarifying this for potential customers especially those who are on the fence about whether or not to purchase the S24 Ultra or keep their current device another year.

I think it's a big mistake to make people pay for AI and try to hide it at that. It's just apple level scummy.
