Missing currently is the hybrid between Leica M and the Q series - EVF-based with exchangeable M-mount! THIS would be a much more interesting novelty IMO.
@@arylgg I own a Sony and do like the wysiwyg EVF so I can accurately frame my subjects. I am a manual lens shooter (who loves character) and do prefer the range of Voigtlander lenses for the M system though. Their range for the E mount is a bit limited in comparison. Adapters and the thicker sensor stack on Sony makes using M Voigtlander's on a Sony a non-starter for me.
I prefer the JJC grip to the Smallrig one. No visible label and not as bulky. I went from an M11 and 50mm Summilux to a Q3 and Q3 43. Oh, the filter and macro mode debate of the Q3 43 is solved by the JJC lens hood, which costs a fifth of the original Leica one.
hey Matt, thanks for the great video. You came very close to answering a question I’ve had for a long time. With which setup does one get better resolution: a high MP body (M11/M10R/Q3) and a mid range lens, or a 24 MP body (240/262/M10) with a better lens like an APO? I’m very allured by the high megapixel bodies. Not sure if it’s worth it
You need to pair the best APO lenses to high MP bodies, SL3 + SL APO being the peak. M lenses are limited by size so SL glass is seen as the best. A cameras have fixed lens so also nice. Q343 is APO and very sharp.
Shooting events, weddings and studio work, with my "colour" cameras, also I use Q2 mono and always wanted a second monochrome body with 50mm. I wish you did a portrait session with it to see the results. I really hope they will make a mono version of 43. For me it would be a perfect signature combo to add to the clients. Again thank you for the great content.
It’s very strange, but your video is just in time, as I am currently thinking and deciding what to do next with my kit (mostly Leica M) and I’m considering all these options, including Hasselblad. Thanks!
I own both the Hasselblad and the Q3 43: The Q3 is smaller and has better AF them the Hasselblad. It is a very versatile camera and with the apo lens the closest thing I have seen to the Hasselblad sensor. The Hasselblad is al about image (and color) quality. The absolute best.
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom Absoluty Matt 👍🏼 16 bit colours is the reason why images don't "fall apart" when zooming in and why the images have the even more natural feel 😜
Matt, there is a lens for Leica screw mount that would be very interesting to compare to Leaica Q3 43. It is Pentax 43mm 1.9 LTM Special. The original K mount version has sort of cult following and is considered one of the best lenses Pentax ever made.
Really excellent and amazingly concise compo video, Thks Matt !! 1 Q, does the Q3 hv Autofocus ?! (In yr vid it seemed to my eyes that the Q3 was (much !) sharper than the Q3 43, but prhps it was the dof, as u suggest.. )
Hi Matt, I think you hit the spot with this video so well done! I am very Lucky to have the Q3 and the 43 but there are still scenarios neither can fill. So I have an SL3 for everything else. For me then, there is still one thing none of these cameras can provide which the Hasselblad can…..,can you guess what it is? I will tell you that the cost of the Hassie (and lack of lens choice) for me outweighs the cost if you are not dedicated to this genre……come on what is it? 😅 Ken
@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom hi Matt of course agree on the colour but the main feature missing is in-camera focus stacking which the Hassie does very well from my experience when I had the X1D11. Brilliant for wide angle landscape shots so that’s the main thing I miss manual focus stacking is of course possible……
I had a Q2 Monochrom and thought it rocked. If I had a Q2, I wouldn’t feel compelled to immediately upgrade to a Q3 or.Q3 43, unless the flip screen would enhance your photographic methods. As I no longer have my Q2M, I got the Q3 43, because I like the old-school feel of the camera and lens.
@@fauzanjamahat1 The focal length difference (43 vs. 28 mm) is noticeable. With my M11 Monochrom, I find myself using a 35 mm lens more than wider ones, so I figured the Q3 43 might be better for me in the long run.
I would have been interested to see comparison photos with the hasselblad too. Could you pls do a more in depth comparison with the X2D since they are pretty much the same focal length. I am very curious about the sharpness and color rendition differences. Thank you for this review btw :)
It was difficult to steal all my students cameras at the same time so I only managed to use X2D vs my H3D but I will share the X2D files in a video to come.
Thanks for this. Exactly my situation. M262 vs Q3 43. You had mentioned M camera rangefinder calibration. Do you have any videos on that? I"ve been reading mixed info on whether we need to calibrate for each lens and how to if so. The whole camera rangefinder accuracy vs lens calibration is confusing at best 😁
This is what I was looking for! Amazing Amazing Love this comparison. If you still have Leica Q3 28mm, Can you please do a Raw comparison video skin tone check for 43mm and 28mm? I have 28mm Q3 but what I noticed is when I shoot Raw it has a yellow skin tone cast vs Q3 43mm is closer to the Nikon Fuji RAW image color. Can you do Raw comparison video skin tone check for 43mm and 28mm? I know post-processing can fix this color tone issue but I am looking for direct Raw comparison. Hope you make comparison video for this. Looking forward to see it!

Hi Matt, well where do we start. Comparing the Q3 43 to a M262 is IMO nice to see where the future has taken us but that is not the point here. An M11 would be a better choice cause the M11 share the same sensor and the latest M camera . Then the lens, you did better by comparing the MTF charts of the new Apo 50 and Apo 43 which will tell you the 43 is better in the corners. Then put the new Apo 50 on an M11 and go shooting with that set and the Q3 43, so you rule out the sensor when comparing.. Now you are just fiddling about and the results make hardly any sense in proof of the 43 mm lens quality. The rule is: When comparing two things rule out any secondary influences ! Basically the Q3 43 lens is on par with the Sl 50 Apo, which is technically the best Leica lens. Then adding the Hasselblad to the test is pointless, it's not even in the title, is this to fill up time ? Sorry but this is not such a good video buddy, more a glued together hodgepodge
