Mark maybe consider just levelling the battens to the wall for the bath first, and then dropping bath down onto the fixed battens and adjusting feet, then bath levelling would be an easier process I think.

About 15years ago I had a similar sort of experience where I was chopping a waste hole out and a piece piece of brick shot out and hit the bath roll which was leaning against the wall behind me. After checking the bath I noticed that the ricocheting piece of brick had taken a piece out of the roll. As the customer had supplied the bathroom equipment and had secured a good deal on the bath as it was no longer in production and the production company gone out of business (one of the best bath companies at the time, Harold Moore)I contacted my supplier who sent one of their operatives out with some ultra fine wet and dry and a bottle of Tcut. In around 2 hours he had smoothed the chip out and polished to such a degree it looked better than original. Best 25 quid I’ve ever spent

A tip an old mate showed me once was Brasso and a rag will polish fairly deep marks out of a bath, I'm not sure this would have polished out on your job but I was once on a job where a sparks dropped his screwdriver in a bath that had been tiled in, I spent a good half hour polishing it and honestly I was amazed, you couldn't tell what so ever where the mark was, I just though this might help someone else out in the future, great video as always mate

I know that feeling - just as packing up you see a problem. Although the battens were in place and the feet screwed down I always put a fixing to stop[ the bath pulling forward. Unlikely to be needed as silicone holds it against the wall - but like you say - we all have our little quirks!! Where are the shower pipes going in as they usually come off the hot and cold bath feed!! If access behind the wall then no need for channelling in the pipework before tiling of course.

Whole system drained, new pipes thru the floor etc etc, I hung the second rad and found the lower corner at the front completely folded over. Had to have been dropped off a truck. Little bit more care from the handlers and probably bit more money spent on proper packaging would eliminate this. Those McAlpine traps are bad news in a shower bath. I had a run of fitting them and was seduced by the lovely way they rotate and the removable waste. In practice, it's easy when showering, to catch your toes on the cllck clack that stands proud, which hurts. It's also useless in a double ended bath, as any pressure on the top when lying in the bath will pop it up. So I only fit them in single ended, non-showering scenarios, if at all. That's bad luck re the bath. In all the years I've never had that happen and I never strip away the plastic until I have to. I'll strip it off from now on, as clearly I've just been lucky!

    Couple of things:
    (1) did you wish you hadn’t put silicone all over the waste when you had to undo it? I don’t think it needs it at all - that’s why you pay more for McAlpine.
    (2) when you’re back there again, put some 22mm full bore isolators on the bath hot and cold. All appliances should have their own isolators, where possible/accessible and behind a plastic bath panel is certainly accessible. If there’s ever a leak or other issue with the bath, the customer doesn’t want to also be unable to use the toilet or wash their dishes.
