  • Plumbing fail......... Some people genuinely don't take pride in the work that they produce, and this video shows exactly that.
    Also i touch on why for the last week or so i haven't filmed any content, sometimes you just need a little break.

      Wow, that pipework no pride and it's something you'd expect from a diy'er not someone qualified/experienced with renewables. Which begs the question, are they even MCS accredited in the first place. Due to the low flow temps being in plastic isn't an issue for heat pumps but it still doesn't sit well with me.

    • @Maltloaflegrande
      @Maltloaflegrande 4 месяца назад

      This level of profit above quality attitude is widespread on sites nowadays. The problem is, to my mind an increasingly out of touch attitude amongst management. I was on a big job which had about twelve chippies (my trade) when I joined and there were two of us who had "old school" attitude to taking pride in our work. The management were forever huffing and puffing about how long we took, but they also kept assigning one or both of us to jobs snagging work that had been rushed by so-called "shit hot workers". Some of this stuff was abysmal. But they never stopped trying to Chivvy us along despite the fact that as the job wound down and the chippy contingent were gradually shrunk, we were the last two to go. But they never let go of the notion that we could somehow work faster and still deliver the same quality. And these managers were grown men in their 40s/50s.

    It's ok people saying that you get what you pay for..that's rubbish, even 'cowboys' are charging top money. I did all the checks when getting a bathroom fitter, recommendations off other people etc, even went to a shop and eventually used 'their guy' who does all their customers' work. What a let-down that was, 2 years later and I'm still having to get other people in to fix what he did wrong. Currently my wallpaper is down in my hallway because of his 'siliconing skills'. I've yet to meet a contractor that actually takes pride in his work. Ok, you might think that's a generalisation but that's my experience. Most of them pick and choose the job, any slight hassle and they don't want to know.

    Hello Mark.
    Yes that pipework is really poor and definitely breaks more than a few rules. What a lot of people do not realise when they get these systems fitted is a lot of the time they are not tradesmen and have only had a short installation course. So they can do the grant work. Also a lot of them are on very tight installation times. None of these are excuses!!
    One other thing that shocked me was I worked as a teacher in a Tech College for a few years and realised that some of the students had never used copper. They spent their whole apprenticeship fitting plastic pipes. For example only using Copper when it popped through the floor to connect a rad. Then only so the carpet fitter never slashed it 😂
    Maybe in the future there will be better control of Plumber registration etc so that the general public can check a Plumber's credentials.
    There are probably several influencing factors here. Not just cowboy work.
    I think the main issue is that these people when they have finished all the grant work will be unleashed on the main population in new overalls purporting to be Plumber's.

Not worth breaking laws and risking safety BUT… all the speed fit is making my eyes bleed and I’m sure if your like me your pipe OCD is going mental looking at it lol! Take care buddy! Marc

      I work in social housing and this is very true. Where there is government funding there is normally tight deadlines to meet to get that funding spent. Large scale projects over hundreds of properties, no quality control, lots of sub-contracting, clash it in and onto the next one. Low and behold when there's problems in the future, these companies never seem to be about and we're left picking up the pieces. Whole thing stinks but happens time and time again.

    Sometimes dont blame the younger plumbers but blame whoever invented speed fit shit.Poly pipe with inserts and compression fittings to be fair is great because poly piping is alot more flexible and if fitted properly will never leak. Its all about speed now isnt it .The old ways are tried and tested but pushfit I wouldnt use myself.OK I am an ancient man but ancient ways have yet to let me down.Long live blokes that do things the old way.
