I finally cleaned my PC after 6 years and I gathered 2kg of dust :)

There’s a construction very close to where I live, so it gets extremely dusty. I haven’t cleaned my pc in 1.5 years. My 5900X was reaching 85 degrees celsius when opening programs and my GPU would reach 72+ degrees when playing Overwatch.
There was an insane amount of dust build up in my case, especially in my AIO radiator and GPU fans. After cleaning and updating the BIOS, idle temperature dropped to around 40-45 degrees and it would rise to 68-70 when gaming + streaming and only 80 degrees when doing blender benchmark. It used to reach 90 degrees when I first overclocked my PC, so it might have to do with my settings or BIOS, but I’m still happier like this. GPU also reached around 56 degrees while playing Overwatch and around 68-70 degrees at 99% usage.

Had that hunch already but that video proves it: Cleaning your desktop pc is absolutely overrated.

most definly. dust will cause unstable high stress usage specialy during overclocking. i for one use addinal heatpads and heatsinks on the backplain of my 170%tdp unlocked gtx670 I am not afraid of dismantling my pc Afterall I built it, same goes for my rx850 psu i will clean that everynow and again.

Fun watch! I bet the fan speeds / resulting noise was lower after the wash, as well. Thanks!

Well doesn't it make sense when you ceiling fan is dirty it's air is less stronger then the clean version same goes for a pc it's more cool with clean fans etc and the more cool the more faster

My computer has been taking forever to turn on and it's been a LOT slower than usual, i think i need to get my dad to help me clean it.
I just wanted to see if this was my issue and i checked all the steps on why my pc is slow. So cleaning it might be nice and i hope it wont be as slow.
