Dear Michigan‘s driver, Please drive under the speed limit while it is snow or snowing on the ground; Be a little patients please. You can scare other drivers off the road while speeding. Thank you! A Michigan driver-
the snow didn't cause the closures - too many folk still driving too fast for weather conditions - forewarned of icy conditions and don't realize that once your tires lose their grip on the road surface you're no longer in control -
There's no reason the auto industry should make cars so fast, they're part of the blame. This weather is a joke (besides the horrible cold) there's almost no snow and they inflict fear in people for a dusting of snow
Bingo! I got caught on 94 East during the snow squalls as well and I immediately slowed down! Didn’t care who passed me because I wasn’t going the speed limit
The snow didn't cause the accidents. People not driving accordingly and not taking into account that tires don't have the best traction on snow and ice is why the accidents happened. And I'm putting it politely.
I wasn't there but driving in the metro a ton every week, including 696 during snowy & rainy commutes, I would bet on the fact that if drivers would of 1) kept a much longer distance behind the car in front and 2) went considerably slower, some of this or all of this pile up could have been avoided. So many tailgaters on the road, its been driving me crazy. Remember people, posted speed limits are assuming ideal conditions (weather & traffic), its not the minimum speed to hold in dangerous conditions. Also, your huge pickup truck/SUV with off road tires won't do a thing to stop you in time on ice.
Thank God. It wasn't that bad, no one died, only minor injuries, Honestly a "body man's dream" lots of cars to fix, no one really hurt. What's amazing is everyone had a calm and good attitude about it all. 👍 thanks for being Rational and Sane, humans 😊
LEARN HOW TO DRIVE PPL….drive under the speed limit and leave a distance. If you know you couldn’t see sht at all you most def should have did 20.. these are the same ppl who don’t pull to the side or stop for police/ambulance/funeral cars.
I lived in Michigan all my life. Winter is my favorite season. I drive 696 to work everyday. I have new tires as well but black ice has nothing to do with sometimes I slide. The snow has nothing to do with these accidents. These people drive fast as hell or have their phones in their hand on the freeway. Use hand free devices. This man had to drive pass me doing 70 mph in the slippery weather and all I said was I'll see him when I get to work. I work in the trauma unit🤦♀️I'm glad everyone was ok tho.
Yes agree. I lived there for 25 years, I know the whole Metro area very well Just like any other place on earth , we have good drivers and bad, there's 5 million people in metro Detroit, hillbillies ( and I'm one, a hillbilly) from the west side, that's half of the states population, ok. It's gonna happen, Car accidents, it's a body man's dream, no one killed, no one hurt badly and lots of cars to fix.
I was in the middle of this. Cars started pinballing ahead and managed to pull over onto the shoulder. Looked in rear view mirror and they were pinballing behind. Feel very fortunate to have avoided any collision, but sat for 2 hours until cars at the front were cleared and could weave through other smashed vehicles.
Every noob is driving a car don't understanding the physics ABS does not change the friction between tire and tarmac. Security options like ESP, ABS, Traction control, other driving assistants only improve security if you don't use the margins provided by the systems. A race driver does not use any of these assistant (all turned off) he only uses his popometer. As long any idiot is thinking he is Ayrton Senna (R.I.P.) and driving so its only getting worse. What is the winning point when driving like an idiot: 1.) you crash your car, 2.) you probably get injured 3.) you probably kill/hurt someone else 4.) you probably damage others goods 5.) your insurance will raise or will not pay 6.) you won't be able to get your car repaired in short time 7.) you won't be able to get a new replacement car, due to Chip-shortages 8.) you miss your appointment instead off staying at home, doing a telco, shifting an appointment ......
I swear all these idiots should get tickets for impeding traffic, reckless driving, careless driving, and driving too close behind the vehicle in front of them. Some of these people deserve to die or to just never drive a car again in their life time.
What's up Michigan driver's? Are you all newbies to winter driving all of a sudden! Start focusing while you drive you distracted idiots. You all are acting like driving is your secondary purpose while on the road when it needs to be your primary focus and that's it. Start respecting the dangers of driving seriously!
That is the littlest amount of snow I’ve ever seen 🙄 this coming from somebody who lives in Alaska, weather like this happens 6 months out of the year here. They are out interviewing in the middle of this so it can’t be that bad!
I'm surprised many folks were out - at least late in the afternoon and evening. I would have thought most people would be home watching the Super Bowl.
Honestly ppl with 4 wheel drive think they can drive however they feel no matter the weather conditions. I know a few and we argue over this all the time! And I always tell ppl "Speed and distance"!!!
*what visibility? i can see for miles in this video. These people cant even drive like that in the morning then they will never survive driving at night where im at.*
I thought I was gonna die lol 15 seconds of fame. I was hit head on in 2017 by a dd. Car flipped engine was in my passenger seat. I cut myself out my seat belt and broke out my driver's door window so I could crawl out. .and I didn't think I was gonna die. And suffered a broken neck and back. .
Michigan here, stop telling adults how to drive and what to do,,, I live there for 25 years, I know the area, and drive it all the time, I can tell that everyone was acting / driving correctly,,, because No One died. They had to be driving slow and Cautiously, to began with.
I'll put it to you this way from the time you get your driver's license every 10 years you should have to go and get your eyes checked and your hearing checked and driving the snow before you can drive. On the road that's my opinion
WINTER DRIVING THROUGH SNOW AND ICE IT'S IMPORTANT TO GET NEW TIRES BRAKES CALIPERS FOR TRACTION CONTROL AND STOPPING. WORN BRAKES DRUMS CALIPERS AND TIRES TREADS WILL LACK CONTROL AND STOPPING PERFORMANCE IN COLD EXTREME WIND DAMPNESS AND WET TEMPERATURES
Where do these people how did they get their driver's license to drive don't they have a course that you have to go through driving in the snow for so many hours before you get a driver's license why don't they have that and you shouldn't be able to drive when you get to a certain age they should when they get to a certain age they need to take and get their eyes checked and their hearing before they can even drive
You people haven't learned how to drive in the snow you were born and raised in it why can't you learn how to drive in it slow down use your mirrors where's the city at when they there's snow storms well it's a snow plows where's the salt where's the taxpayers money going that's my opinion
Never ceases to amaze me the way people drive especially in severe weather conditions.
Dear Michigan‘s driver,
Please drive under the speed limit while it is snow or snowing on the ground; Be a little patients please. You can scare other drivers off the road while speeding.
Thank you!
A Michigan driver-
Dear MDOT... Get your salt and sand together.
the snow didn't cause the closures - too many folk still driving too fast for weather conditions - forewarned of icy conditions and don't realize that once your tires lose their grip on the road surface you're no longer in control -
Totally Agree
I was thinking the same thing. Smdh
There's no reason the auto industry should make cars so fast, they're part of the blame. This weather is a joke (besides the horrible cold) there's almost no snow and they inflict fear in people for a dusting of snow
@@m42037 you sound like someone who would cause a Crash Pile up on a Freeway!
this made no sense what so ever
I drive that way every day, you all need to slow down and pay attention.
I would like to advise everyone. It's only 2 simple rules. 1. The speed limit is only good for perfect conditions. 2. If you can't see, stop driving.
Number three if you don't have the intelligence or the skills to drive don't
💯
Took me years to learn. Stay home when it snows. Grew up in Michigan. Lived there for decades.
Same here in central Illinois. Always have things ready before the storm. Gas, medicine and groceries.
Let me be clear snow covered roads don't cause accidents... people driving too fast for weather conditions do
Bingo! I got caught on 94 East during the snow squalls as well and I immediately slowed down! Didn’t care who passed me because I wasn’t going the speed limit
Did all 300 drivers get tickets for driving too close?
Plenty of time when i give space, but others drive too close to me.
The snow didn't cause the accidents. People not driving accordingly and not taking into account that tires don't have the best traction on snow and ice is why the accidents happened. And I'm putting it politely.

"NO warning". 🤣
Less than 2 inches of snow. 🙄
Put down the phone.

Well, today is Valentine's Day, and that's not much more important. It's just a Hallmark holiday.
@@Jeff-xy7fv I said nothing about today nor do I celebrate valentines but thanks for the random comment
All young fools!
Grew up in downriver Michigan. Now live in Ohio . Little less snow. But people don't know how to drive at all!
Either rear end a driver or side swipe the median?
Glad there appears to be no one seriously injured. 🙏
Did that young fella say he was "bored"?🤦🏾♀️
stupid kids
Yeah and the old fella on the stretcher had his phone out recording while being pushed to an ambulance.

I was driving in a white out in some part of 696. Some people have no hazard lights or head lights on, driving above 60+ mph.....

For all the "safety" tech on these new cars, the pileups are stupendous. We never had stuff like this 50 years ago.
Exactly
It's nothing to do with the safety equipment of the cars, it's the idiots driving them.
ABS. + people driving as if their in a video game.
