Hi @ChiefSweetsUniverse Thank you for an EXCELLENT introductory bearded dragon care guide video! I’m setting up a habitat and look forward to getting my first bearded dragon. (I’ve previously had a yellow rat snake, an iguana, and an alligator snapping turtle, as pets). This is GREAT info, concise, and well delivered! I’ve subscribed to your channel, downloaded this video (and several of your other videos), and have watched this one at least three times! Thanks again! Daniel
Thanks, today my friend just gave me a three year old bearded dragon because I have a leopard gecko so they assumed I would be good at caring for him. Now I know they have been over feeding him and I don’t need to feed him every day
Great video, my man. This should answer any initial question, that people might have about taking care of bearded dragons, while also encourage them to learn more :D Also, a lot of wonderful shots of the main attraction himself - gotta love that :D I hope that you, the family and of course Bubba too have a fantastic day :D
@@DonyaeDawson yeah they totally can just not as a everyday thing. You can feed em it with a varied diet. Crickets one day dubias the next mealworms the next back to crickets back to mealworms ya know.
I’ve had my beardie for a week and haven’t seen him drink or eat vegetables once. He looks fine. Put your substrate and got an Arcadia uvb light so he’s all setup
Yeah they are pretty good about storing water so you won’t see them drink often and they aren’t a big fan of vegetables haha. However congrats on your dragon!
This video is amazing you really touch on all points really well and explain very clearly and don’t stretch out your explanations. I feel confident i will give my Bearded dragon a great life. A question I have is, is there a certain time in the morning or evening where you should leave them in the terrarium and not taking them into your hands?
I have a question my bearded dragon passed away and I still have his cage it’s a 50-55 gallon with all his stuff could I buy one and put it in the same cage or do I buy everything new
I live in Pennsylvania i am trying to understand at night if i should turn off the infrared light or not at nightine o.0? Some say there needs tobe a specific temperature for nightime even with bulbs off ?
Thank you for all the info! I’d like to bring one home one day soon. I have a question, can they eat mosquitoes or flies? I suspect you’ll say no, but I thought I would ask to be sure.
Question: you said you can use Ceramic Heat Emitters for the basking spot, but halogen bulbs are better. Why are they better? If I have a tube T5 Arcadia bulb and proper light for the rest of the tank, what makes the halogen bulb superior to a CHE? I’m genuinely curious. I had a CHE for my last beardie, with the proper T5 Arcadia bulb. Now I’m looking to set up a tank for a new beardie and I’m genuinely curious about this. I’ve been watching a ton of beardie care videos and reading a lot of articles but nobody really says why one is better than the other. Thanks so much for your videos, I can tell you have a lot of experience, your videos have been extremely helpful :)
I got you! So halogen is better because it provides IRA and IRB which is infared spectrum heat sources. These sources are very efficient in absorption and deep penetrating subculonecus tissue. Deep heat projectors are IRC which are not very good at penetrating deep tissue and don’t replicate sunlight like halogens do.
Hello, nice videos!!!!! 🎉 May I ask you a Q.? 😢 I have a 4.5 month old male BD, and I would like to ask how to socialize him so that I can take him out of the terrarium for example for weighing? He is afraid of us but will burp from our hand and tweezers. Thank you so much, amazing videos! ❤
Hey Chief. Back again with another question for you. I've been giving my juvenile beardie (she's 8mos) Rep Cal Herptivite multivitamins with beta carotene. When I took it to my vet she told me that I need to find a multivitamin without Phosphorus but I've been having a really hard time finding one. Is there one you recommend that doesn't have d3 or phosphorus? I appreciate any feedback 🩷
I don’t think a vitamin without phosphorus even exists. Every one I have seen always has 9%-10% of phosphorus in the vitamin. Also why I only use vitamins once to twice a month.
Yes that works as well! It’s honestly up to you. Some rehomed do come with problems like improper husbandry so be prepared that they may come with issues however some do not.
A lot of this info opposes what im doing now and i appreciate it a lot atleast im learning, real quick though i have 2 100W Basking bulbs and one uvb and with all on it gets up to about 100 degrees if not more.Is it okay as long as its at the the right temp?
The dried ones don’t really have any nutritional value since all the good stuff in the cricket dried out. I still go live just watch my dragon eat em all
Is it okay if I get those turtle heating lights I don’t know the name of the light but they don’t give off light for the night to give my bearded dragon heat at night cause I’m my house it’s always cold and I don’t want the tanks temperature to drop
Can you touch on uva? i have a 24" arcadia uvb setup that does uvb and A and a basking bulb that outputs some uva as well is this too much? from what i found all bulbs produce uv of some kind. I could be totally wrong about this but i'm still learning. Thanks
As far as we know most heat lamps that produce uva alongside the t5s are totally fine. Uva is a little more tricky as we are still learning more and more about it
Hey i like your videos a lot of real information but i have a question I don’t want my bearded dragon to go into brumation i keep my apartment at 66 at night if i let him at that temperature all night he can go into brumation or no?
It’s really daytime temp that controls this. Temps below 72f during the day will result in brumation during winter but it’s ok for them to go into brumation perfectly natural
Hey man I had a couple questions, I’m getting a baby bearded dragon and plan on doing a 40gal for now and then upgrade to a larger enclosure once he’s bigger. For the 40gal would you recommend a Arcadia 12% 24in or the 14% 34in? Either one would be on top of the screen. Also for the basking light would you think a 100 watt would be good? Thank you!!
Hi! I am planning to upgrade my son’s bearded dragon enclosure. Do you feel that an adult bearded dragon can live happy and healthy in a 120 gallon tank? I only want to purchase an upgraded enclosure once but I worry the 120 gal will not be enough for the next 12 years or so.
I just got. A baby bearded dragon 3 months old . Just until Next month he is in a 20 gallon tank I plan on getting the 120 gallon tank in the next two weeks . Like u recommend . The Ubv t5 12% do u recommend me getting that one now ? Even tho she’s only 3 months old and should i use 75 watt bulb or 100watt bulb with the 20 Gallon tank for now and I live in Miami Fl
If you live in Miami I would definitely get the 75 watt haha just to see if it’ll get you to the temps that ya need. Now I wouldn’t use the Arcadia 12% for a 20 gallon just because it would be like staring into the sun at that range you can get the Arcadia 6% t5 24 inch fixture that’ll work at the 20 gallon distance

Hello sir, Would you suggest the Arcadia 12% T5 for the 36x18x18 Dubia enclosure? I plan on upgrading to the 4x2x2 but my dragon is still a young juvenile. I know it depends on how high my basking area is, so I was wondering if it would be wiser to use a T8 to avoid too much uvb. I don’t plan on bringing it into the cage as I think it will for sure be too much lighting for a 18 inch tall cage
No the dubia enclosure does block 43% of uvb through screen I’d suggest the t5 for sure. 7 to 14 inches would be appropriate basking zone on top of screen with a Arcadia 12% t5 ho
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse maybe when I upgrade to the 4x2x2 I should mount it on the inside than? But for the 50 gallon I will leave it on top as you suggested, thanks so much man!!!
It be ok for a baby but eventually you will need a big enclosure for a adult because they do require the heat and uvb to stay healthy. So you can interact with them but make sure they spend more time in the enclosure getting some good uvb and temps.

During breeding season I introduce them to each other and they mate. Happens in like 15 minutes then separate them
