    Hiya Cheif. I got my latest bearded dragon just over a week ago. I can't recall how old they are when you get them, but yes, I got her from a big box store after losing my 2 year old. But to get to it. I have another, older one, that I think is a male (flashlight and visually, appears to be). This little one, she's 15g, so I don't know if that will help you with her age. My 2 year old, who I thought was a female exceeded 600g and my research says a female should only be about 1/2 that. I checked her when she was young, called her as a female and life went on. So I'm getting there. This 15g baby doesn't chew her food, I gave her dubias that were size appropriate and she just swallows them. When a beardie eats, you know it! Crunch crunch crunch, like potato chips! Since my 2 y.o. passed, I learned that their teeth and gums are 1 piece, not like us, where they are separate. My very 1st baby beardie had where her teeth/gums became disconnected from her jaw and I tried syringe feeding her, not knowing this. Then my 2nd that I just had mouth issues with. My question is - should I return her to the store because I have never heard of a beardie not chewing it's food? I feel like if I don't, I am just asking for trouble. Please, try not to judge me. I'm trying my best. I love my beardies, but I couldn't take the heartache again. Thank you!

    Need ADVICE!
    I don’t have zero experience with reptiles (had a ball python) but this will be my first time buying a bearded dragon. Are the lights (heat lamp & uvb) supposed to be on 24/7? Or can you turn them off at night? I live in CA (Palm Springs, the desert). During the summer my house is kept between 77-79* & during the winter we don’t run the ac at all because it gets pretty damn cold, which I like.
    I’m really concerned with the lightning because I lost my ball python due to lack of experience & bad lighting (I think). He got sick, like he got the cold & never bounced back.
    I’ve seen a bunch of different setups for bearded dragons with different people saying different things. This video seems to make the most sense to me. I just want to do it right.
    Thanks
    Any other pro tips would be greatly appreciated!

It seems easier to adjust the dimmer until you get the correct temp no? Also, I bought the 4x2x2 tank. 😁😁

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  4 месяца назад

      You can but dimming too much actually hurts the important radiation from the bulb that helps the beardie that’s why it’s better to try and have the lamp at full power with good wattages

    IM GETTING A BEARDED DRAGON SOON!!!!😊
    I’m new to this so if I’m correct is this the requirements?!
    40 gallon tank by Zoo Med. (get the kit because it’s cheaper for the case but don’t use the shitty stuff inside, just use the case.)
    If I’m correct, mixing Australian Jurassic sand with repisoil, and extavator clay for a nice substrate.
    Get some mopani wood, 3 pieces like in the video.
    Small piece of wood like in video so backs are against top.
    No see through sides if possible: so the best solution would be the 3d background things from petsmart.
    I should hand feed my bearded dragon.
    Arcadia Pro t5 is the way to go.
    Have lights on basking side.
    Heat lamp in place of same spot as in video and the middle of the uvb light right in the same spot as video.
    Heat lamp: regular basking lamp (specifically a 100 watt)
    Don’t get “nocturnal red ones”!
    Have a temperature gun.
    Have a thermostat.
    Put thermostat probe to side like in video.

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse
      @ChiefSweetsUniverse  2 месяца назад +1

    My 7 month old is in the same tank she is eating, shedding, and pooping. My heat and lighting is spot on and I get her out of her enclosure at least once a day. I never see her zooming around or looking like she needs more space. When I get her out she usually stays in and around the same place so I’m not too worried about putting her in a larger enclosure. My 5.5 foot BOA is in a 4x2x2 and he stays in his hide or on a perch I made with bricks and a paver.

It’s tricks him into drinking out of the water bowl. But I just have this one question. Should I continue doing this? Also yeah, the thing where you spray water into the enclosure helps to. Very good question so beardies do want 3.0-7.4 that’s the range they want to bask at so a 12% prot5 is perfect for a 40 but you can go online and buy a 120 gallon to start your baby in it’s pretty much the same price as a 40 gallon at petsmart now

    • @ChiefSweetsUniverse

      It works but the uvb is very different per bulb so I only recommend with a solarmeter so you know how much uvb your getting cause it does produce good uvb but the heat may be too much at distances needed

  • @Fairest_Of_All
    @Fairest_Of_All 2 месяца назад +15

    Sand is the WORST thing you could put into the tank with them. If your feeding them live crickets or anything that can't be contained in their bowl, they will jump out into the sand and the bearded dragons tongue takes in sand into his/her intestines causing major blockages . I used a bag of nice dirt for bearded dragons and it's nice and cool for them for when they're not basking.

    • @KittyPaw-vj9zd
      @KittyPaw-vj9zd Месяц назад +1

      Sure but if they want sand then they can just get a reptile dish (reptile plate thingy) so that they do not escape, or maybe the animals don't try hiding in the sand? Or either the bearded dragons dont stick their tongue so long that they wont touch the sand but touch the insect, and another one can be the owners place the insect in rocky areas :3

      @KittyPaw-vj9zd Месяц назад

      @@saraalshehhi5896 i am not rlly an expert, but im about to get one and i have ALOT of info!
      Sand:
      If using sand, use compacted-clay like sand, i heard that if you use calcium sand they might result in the reptile eating.
      What other substrates do you think i can use?:
      Reptile carpets are good, zen mats, grass is fine! Newspaper is also fine though, also floor tile(s)? I dont specifically know what tile but i do know its has the word "tile".
      Heres all the info not related to your topic!! :D
      What size of a tank? :
      40g tanks are fine and good for baby beardies, for adults? Maybe over a 100g, i most recommend 120g!
      How often should i feed em?:
      I heard that its more recommended for babies is 20% insects and 80% vegetables, for the adult i heard its the opposite (80% insects, 20% vegetables), and another thing that i heard is that the insects feed ALOT to them, so not too much for the babies! Maybe 1-2 a week, and for adults maybe around 3-4 a week, i have not researched much on this, so you do have every right to correct me. (Unless ur not an expert or dont know the answer too)
      Hey! What accessories should i add in the tank?:
      Oh! I suggest you add a reptile food bowl, alot of wood since the bearded dragons LOVE to climb! And i suggest a hiding spot so they dont feel like they have no privacy, but its really up to you!
      Uhm what light stuff should i use? (Heating topic):
      Arcadia 12% light thingies, i suggest you check out "chiefsweetsuniverse" they made a short on everything they added for the beardies! If your filipino or any tropical country its ok if you dont get one! (if your wondering why i know this im a filipino) if your a asian thats in the cold side, i (think) thats when you can get lights!
      Its ok to ask more questions!! :3
      Yes i generated these myself extremely sigma right? Ok sorry for the brainrot, but i am pleased to answer anything, feel free to ask anything! Even if its a different reptile. :3
