It really depends on what kind of bench set up too, not including the ridiculously 1 inch ROM, but also a bodybuilding style bench is wayyy more difficult than a powerlifting style bench

I was one of those hardgainers until i simply started to actually just start counting my calories, and turns out, eating 2 big ass meals out of 3 and zero snacks doesn't mean i eat a lot in total, and my calories werent even reaching 2500. now i try to reach 3k a day with enough grams of protein per bodyweight and i gained kilos upon kilos in just a few months... tell your friends to count his calories. if he's not gaining weight, eat a surplus of 500. eat more even. there is no such human that cant gain weight from eating on a surplus of calories

Muscle mass does not equal strength this is fitness 101. Also specificity is key here too. Seems like a lot of people still don't understand how exercise works from all the likes. People literally going out of their way to not get informed even with all the info out there now? If you don't train for strength in low 3-5 rep ranges doing the benchpress then you are not going to get a super strong bench. This guy is muscular and most likely just trains hypertrophy which is mostly about growth and though you do gain some strength it's never going to get you that strong.
