Bobby was a close friend of mine. For those who love his music, I want you to know that he was as kind, thoughtful and generous as he was talented. As a performer and recording artist, he gave everybody everything he had. To those who got to experience that energy personally, he was an wonderful friend, never farther than a phone call away.
What an incredible joy it must have been to be friends with him. I'm so happy you got to experience that, and thank you for reaffirming how wonderful he was... I know the world still distrusts a Kevin Spacey, but I will forever be grateful that he did the movie Beyond the Sea, because Bobby deserves the recognition❤
This man was the master and this shows why. He could do it all. Almost 50 years not in this world and this is still a joy to watch. Nobody does it better. We'll always be wishing for more.
There are a few singers, performers that stay with you all your life and Bobby Darin is one of them, I could listen to this guy over and over and never get tired of his magnificence.
This is Bobby Darin singing up a storm in his own swinging style, brilliant.... Bobby always held his fans captured in his hands thrilling us all the way..... He made a huge impression on generations of people young and older alike who loved him for his wonderful entertaining talents and different styles of music.... Singing, song writing, and playing music was Bobby's first love, he did this to perfection, then there was his acting, wonderful stuff..... This young man, Bobby Darin was a genius, master of his own destiny all his life, sadly it was to be short lived, but man he packed so much into those years achieving all he set out to do, others who lived longer lives falling short.... An exceptionally multi-talented young man with incredible insight, born at the right time to take his placed in musical history, helping to reshape it to what we know today...... Thank you for the cherished and precious memories you gave us Bobby, you made this huge difference in the lives of many across the globe for which we are grateful..... REST IN ETERNAL PEACE BOBBY DARIN YOU ARE MISSED, LOVED, REMEMBERED.
Edith Symmans., I’ve enjoyed and agree with everything you have posted regarding Bobby Darin. I’m an 82 yr.old lady that’s loved him and his talents from the first time I heard him perform . I’m still trying to read and view anything I can find about his life. It sounds like you knew him personally. Lucky lady. Sad that he didn’t get to enjoy his son Dodd and his beautiful family. I’ve passed on to my five daughter’s and now my grandchildren and great- grandchildren my love of his talents and hope they do the same. At least they know who Bobby Darin is. Thank you for writing so many wonderful things about him and helping to keep him in the Spotlight. Sincerely,Chris 🥀
Sophie Tucker did it first (1927). ruclips.net/video/_BN7mTFlHpg/видео.html Walden Robert Cassotto heard it as a child. And BD paid tribute to Ms. Tucker in his interpretation. Admittedly, he did it better, and nobody will ever top his. But all are welcome in music. It isn't competition. It is music. For ALL.
Thanks for this. NEVER remove it. I will listen often to this amazing version. He was so good but now in 2021 I’m discovering what a great entertainer he was. Loved his music in the 60’s but now I’m discovering how remarkable he was. TELL YOUR FRIENDS. He did wonderful impressions, had a great sense of humor and timing, played 6 instruments and couldn’t write notes or read music, dances, sings all genre of music and with his deep emotions, makes each song his own. He was a very good actor and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as well as the Las Vegas Walk of Fame. He won numerous rewards and we fans should encourage others to delve into this mans contribution to the entertainment industry. I read his son Dodd Darins book about him and wife Sandra Dee. So good I read it twice. Bobby had a tough life and approached life as if every day was his last. He knew his life was short and he was determined to be a star. 37 years was all he had but he’s a bigger brighter star today than any current performers. He gave 100% to each performance, then went backstage and was on oxygen! There will never be another Bobby Darin. Shine on Bobby, we still love you and you’re not forgotten.
Magnifique.
This song defines a relationship I had. She confessed she still feels her heart stumbling when she listens to it; 'cause the lyrics became true after she coldly left me. Funny, when I first showed her this song I just wanted to dance with her to it. I sang it to her in her ears, we laughed. Couldn't imagine it would become a prophetic moment.
""Oh play it pretty ""just these LIL words FABULOUS I BELIEVE this was this PALLADIUM in LONDON THEY LOVE HIM IN THE UK I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN EDINBURGH SCOTLAND AND SANG PROFESSIONALLY THERE IN THE 60S HE WAS HOT THERE IM IN STATES NOW AND THIS IS GLORIOUS FOR ME AS I BROUGHT ALL HIS TAPES TO THE USA "LISTEN TO HIM ""STAY WITH ME NOW "OMG FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE
wicked?... maybe, but she was Murdered for trying to tell the truth about the JFK Killing (talking with Jack Ruby when he wouldn't with anyone else) ...but that Is another story
Steve Howle Yes, and for that I am sorry. She didn't deserve that. But she was very harsh music critic. Basically hated anything that wasn't Classical.
Bobby Darin was a long way from Classical...She was on "Whats my Line", in our living-rooms Every week, but I'll bet that was before You were Born! ... She was Classy, and Brave in my book. ...as far as dis-respecting Country Music...have you ever heard the term "NASHVILLE-MUCK"?.. why don't you go watch some Nascar or Robert Tilton? ...and Leave this ALONE!
Steve Howle I don't watch Nascar, thanks! REAL Country Music is amazing in the history of the music its very much an art form. Yet Miss Kilgallen didn't want them in New York. Which she said "Get out of town the hillbillies are coming". When the VERY TALENTED Jim Reeves and Patsy Cline were headlining at her beloved Carnegie Hall. They could sing circles around any Pop music hacks. . The Grand Ol Opry played New York to a SOLD OUT crowd. Poor Miss Killgallen must have had her dear head explode to get around that. My favorites are Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, and the greats of Country Music. She had no respect. The wicked witch of the East Dorothy Killgallen was outraged. Well she was just a witch with no chin. Thanks.
Some of these days You're gonna miss me, honey Some of these days You'll feel so lonely You're gonna miss my huggin' You'll miss my kissin' You may even miss me, baby When I'm gone away You're gonna feel lonely And want me only ‘Cause you know, honey Kinda always had your way Say baby if you leave me, oh yes oh yes You know it's gonna grieve me You're gonna miss your boney little daddy 'Cause one of these... yeah Said some of these days (Aw... do it, Sophie!) You're gonna miss me honey, huh And I'm talkin' about days When you feel all lonely You're gonna miss my huggin' You're gonna miss my kissin' You may even miss me, honey When I'm long gone away I hope you feel lonely And want me only ‘Cause you know lover Ya always had your way And if-a you-a-a leave me You know it's gonna grie-ee-ee-ve me You'll miss-a your brown-eyed daddy (Grab it now!) I've revisited this video because I've read in Shane Brown's book on Bobby that he misses the last note in this performance of the song. While he may certainly be a bit flat, I wish all mistakes were like that. I expected something much more evident (though I cannot remember Bobby making a glaring mistake when singing... Except that time he forgot the lyrics to 'That Funny Feeling' and provided one of his funniest moments, getting out of his predicament in great style).
I wouldn't put my head on the block for the note being completely in pitch throughout its entire length, but I wouldn't call that 'missing' it, not at all. In fact, I wouldn't have called it anything, had I not read that sentence in the book. Brown says that Bobby's rendition of 'The Gal that Got Away' on his TV special during the same UK tour was even worse, but that's not on RUclips, I think... And I don't think it is going to be that bad, either. I haven't seen it. Darin didn't seem to have a rapport with some of the British audiences or journalists on that tour, so perhaps someone wrote something disparaging without having actually heard him, and Brown consulted written rather than video sources. I'm still waiting to see a bad performance by Bobby Darin.
Bobby's version of this song off of his "That's All" LP is actually a bit slower than the version this band played. I've wondered if some PR man just sent an advance copy of the album along with the arrangement to this conductor and musicians, and they simply practiced what they heard on the record. Compare the two sometime. Interestingly similar.
I think this was at the LONDON PALLADIUM hes just the GREATEST ENTERTAINER EVER dripping with sex appeal NEVER EVER MAKE THEM LIKE BOBBY DARIN AGAIN NEVER
This performance got ratcheted up quite a bit at the Cocoanut Grove concert. WOW, was he cookin' there! I want that full video, but it isn't for sale. Here's a bit of it: ruclips.net/video/4y60evcKlCE/видео.html

HE NEVER LET ON TO HIS AUDIENCE on how he felt physically. Poor guy. He was a true preformer.

it isn't competition, but only two people can do this song any justice with perfection and their voices are superior, the rest are just chop liver.
5 people have never heard music before. Rip Legend

Bobby delivers a great song. He is one of the best during his time.
Micky Bubbles can only dream of this achievement! He obviously modelled himself on this giant of talent.

Thanks again.
One of my favorite Darin tracks. How many 23 yr old 'entertainers' can do this today.?
ZERO.
None !....This is why Elvis used to go see him, Elvis new his was something special....This is one act you would not want to follow.
plenty, just not the most popular or appreciated, much like Mr. Darin here.
Thanks for uploading this, RIP Bobby.
He was so young in this clip
Judy McRae I think this is the show in London in 1960 I guess, because he announced “Clementine” as a new song.
Yes Sunday Night at the London Palladium 1960

The English never had it SO Good!... Dorothy Kilgallen said he had the "nerve of a Bank Robber". and that was, of course a compliment!
Dorothy K was a very wicked woman who said some terrible things about Country Music. She was just a critic. Patsy Cline put her in her place.

Good Stuff!
oh! I really like the way he wrapped up this tune.....so Darin!
Yes, he does; he deliberately misses the last note. Genius.
Come on band swing... Bobby wants to kick it up early, you can tell.
That was my felling as well, Chris. There is a kind of tension between them.
Bobby's version of this song off of his "That's All" LP is actually a bit slower than the version this band played. And people say Sinatra was good ?, compared to Bobby , he wasn't in the same class
Sinatra, Sinatra, Sinatra...why only and always Sinatra?! Poor Frank, he's a real obsession, just as he was to Bobby.
He reminds of Rand Paul 😂
Boy I cannot see that one.
OMG now that you've mentioned it...
Well, early Rand Paul, before he switched to rap 🤣
