- I love Rustoleum. Its great quality paint and the can spray nicely.... I hate using some other brand with bad nozzles that spray unevenly and can even drip. Today we show you how i was able to change the look of my stock steel wheels on my 2019 Sprinter to an awesome Bronzish color.
I was looking at using Dupli Colors wheel paint in Bronze ( amzn.to/2MwjhIZ ) but none of my local stores had it in stock and the color was a little bit too yellow for my liking.
So i headed to my local Home Depot to see what i could find. Headed to the paint aisle and BAM, there was the color i was looking for. The color i had pictured in my head. Its was Rustoleum Metallic Antique Brass ( amzn.to/33K06kD )
I picked up a few cans and some other small items and headed home to get started!
Here is the list of items i used for this project.

Tire Cleaner: amzn.to/2W0g2fL
Rustoleum Paint: amzn.to/33K06kD (i was able to do all 4 wheels with 1 can!!) Maybe get more just in case
Lint Free Towels: amzn.to/2Brv2tE (should be available as a single pack at wal mart)
Tape: amzn.to/2VZpvnV (the stucco tape sticks the best to the rubber tires!

Amazing video, just what I was looking for!
Awesome! Glad it helped
I had the same problem looking for bronze. All the brands labeled bronze were too gold or yellow or flat.
Rustoleum antique brass was perfect 👌🏻
Painted my wheels and engine cover recently with it and couldn’t be happier.
Awesome!!
Is it long lasting?
Looks great thank you for the tips
No problem 👍
Nice job, I hope I can do mine before winter starts
That’s great idea, painting without taking the wheels off👍
Looks good!
Great video
Thanks man
flows with it and its subtle
thanks
Thanks for your time good video
I love that paint.. I've used the black metalic to do trim and the charcoal to do my entire drift car and it looked amazing you couldn't tell it was rattle canned . Nice man I should have done all those videos back in the day but never had editing skills or a good camera
i shot this one on my phone!!
@@imjoshv that's what I do now..now that phones are good enough.i want to collaborate with a fellow person that does RUclips videos in a similar subject but there's no one local to me in Washington. I guess all the RUclipsrs live in california
Simples👌. Thanks good job👍
👍👍
Look really good
Want to do my tacoma steelies, think I am going to mask off the body though for overspray, any issues with tire changes/rotations?
Really nice!
Thank you
Yup, that's how you do it. Now, if you're dealing with really ugly wheels and wanna get it "done" on the cheap. Nothing beats a can of Rustoleum Enamel.
Wow! Even got custom colored bronze wheel weights.
Love the $6.00 rim upgrade, looks like custom wheels
Thanks! Im pretty happy with them!
3:24.. quality editing 😎
Hi there - is this spray heat resistant? I mean do I have to find a spray that is up to 100 degrees celsius or not? Thanks for a tip! Really nice color!! Will try on my old hymer 😊
I have a white XL Maverick with all black accents kind of like your van. I think this might be a good look until I can upgrade my wheels.
Would you use this on nicer stock wheels that you don’t like the color?
Hi. Looks great. Can you please tell me if there was any issues on taking off the tires? Only asking cause I've heard is not good to paint the lugnuts.
Honestly I haven’t taken them offer I did pretty light coats so I don’t think there should be any issue!
@@imjoshv thanks for the answer
is it kinda hard to put plastic on the brakes through the holes on the steelies? cause my '96 Corolla has steelies & I just want to paint them silver & not get any paint on the tires or brakes
then take the tires off the car - you will avoid over spray on the car too. I just painted my Wheels with the tires on, on my lawn and I now have 4 round black circles on the lawn - just think what happens when you do it on the car
Why did you leave the wheel weights in place?
This saved me from buying another crappy can of "bronze" paint. It's what I was looking for.
What size tires are these?
“Title text here” really hit home.
Ha did I mess up an edit? Videos been up a while and I had no idea
All the videos I’ve watched people have been taking them off is it better to take them off or is this fine ? Also I think there’s quite a bit of rust, that be fine to paint over ?
Taking them off definitely allows you to spray them much easier. With these I wasn’t worried because they are a simple design and the big cap goes over the whole middle.... for rust... just make sure they are not damaged at all. Make sure you’re safe!!!!
The way u used the plastic bag for inside holes.... amazing...but it doesn't goes like that everytime....it's difficult
Spot on! I was looking for pics and video of steelies painted on rust oleum on this color and I found this! Perfect!
I’ll use this color if I can’t get my hands on Kaqui camo...
I believe primer is not required as the wheel is in mint condition
If the original paint is in bad condition then primer is required
How many cans u used?
It’s been a while but I think I did it with 3
Do you still have these wheels? I was wondering, since you didn't apply any clearcoat, and just the spray paint, how is the finish and is it resistant to mineral spirits/acetone/ alcohol.
i dont use anything like that on them, but i do use a pretty heavy wheel cleaner on them and the paint is still good!!
@@imjoshv you may not willingly use any solvents, but say fuel spills, or brake cleaner splashing while brake replacements.
How has the paint held up for you? Still looking great?
Yea I have about 10k miles now and it’s still perfect
No primer needed?
What colour paint have you used is it just mettalic gold? I'm looking at reviews so I can spray my bike
I realize it's quite off topic but do anyone know a good place to stream new tv shows online?
@Finn Matteo I would suggest FlixZone. You can find it by googling =)
@Memphis Brody yea, I have been using FlixZone for since april myself =)
@Memphis Brody thanks, signed up and it seems to work =) I appreciate it !!
@Finn Matteo Happy to help :)
I wish you told us what color of Rust-oleum you used, in the comments, so we can buy the right product to match your results, because this color looks great with black!
He listed it in the description. The color is Metallic Antique Brass.
Does the paint create trouble to the brakes?
I try to cover it as much as I can but any overspray that gets on it runs right off the first time you break... just don’t want to get an excessive amount on there
This guy isn't so smart take the wheels off and paint them
@@izoletearistoy6978 its better but not a necessity. Just cover the whole brake area with a garbage bag
@@Pantelifts10 honestly, for the amount of ball ache you'd save yourself if you get the spray paint on the callipers or pads ect just remove the wheels. jack stands are cheap.
How many cans for all 4 rims?
Good question ?
It’s been a year, you should do a follow up video
Good idea!
4:45 back in the days when microfiber wasn't a thing 😂
So no need for primer?
The rust oleum is a paint and primer. I have 10k on the van now and the wheels still look great
You need to paint also the grille to balance the looks properly. Just suggesting...
in the bronze?
@@imjoshv At least some details.
wait..you sprayed through the rims? won't it get on the brake calipers? you also had a slight breeze, pretty dangerous for overspray to get on body panels!
He put plastic behind the wheels
Title text here
!!!
No primer
Nope, just scuff and spray! They’ve held up perfectky
La ilaha illAllah .
The problem with the bronze, it almost looks rusty, personally I prefer the silver
painting the wheels on the car isn't the smartest thing you can do.You sprayed your rotors, calipers and also risk over spray on the vehicles paint.Lazy way to do it for sure.
Looks like rust
Cant help but notice how bad this is going to look when u get new tires. Plus u painted the valvestem. Idk doesn’t seem any sort of professional... and yes I realize it’s spray paint but u could have done better with prep
California 🤮
Looks like rust
