    Great video! For really heavily rusted steel rims (say you live in New England) that have been neglected for years, I find it much more efficient to start with a screw driver/chisel/nail puller of a hammer to knock loose and scrape off large chunks of road grime, rust, and chipping old paint. This does the most (if not all) of your prep work. Then follow with a hand steel wire brush, and then coarse sand papers (80 grit). Leave rotary wire brush to the end because it can’t do much in heavy lifting.

    They look awesome! Do you recommend spraying the internal also? I'm thinking this would add further protection but no idea if it'd be worth it.

    Hi Will, I’m looking to do the same for my four wheels too. How many cans do you think I’d be needing?

    • @willsvanadventures
      @willsvanadventures  5 месяцев назад +1

      Awesome! I reckon about 3/4 cans of each. You can always return the ones you don't use .

    What happened with the axle stand?! Did it just slip out of place or something? Or did the stand actually suffer some type or material or manufacturing failure (metal bent/broke or one of the welds broke??) these look like the same halfords stands i use to do work under my van. After seeing this im now wondering how safe they are

    • @willsvanadventures
      @willsvanadventures  Год назад

      Yh so the stand bent on one of the legs. So it actually failed. When I took it back for a refund. One of the staff told me that they aren't that good.... So pretty dangerous. But I would say if you're working under your van to get a ramp or something. Should never work under using axle stands.

    • @rob6rr
      @rob6rr Год назад +1

      Looks like you had the 2tonne stands. Not sure what the weight of the maxi is but i went for the 3tonne stands with my swb just incase. But still good to know how yours failed.
      Cheers

      @willsvanadventures  Год назад

      @@rob6rr yh they were the 2tonne. I agree with you that they are probably to light so I was given the wrong advice when buying them in Halfords. And then went I complained. They just said you shouldn't of bought them.....

    Anyone know why on eBay, loads of wheel trims for a Caddy state they won't fit a Caddy Maxi 🤷. Same dia wheel, same tyre size etc but why won't they fit? Confused.

    • @willsvanadventures
      @willsvanadventures  3 месяца назад

      Buy wheel trim do you mean the plastic cover that sits over the wheel and clips on? Or a wheel arch kit?

    • @x4dd
      @x4dd 3 месяца назад +1

      Yeah the complete trim that fits in the steel wheel rim.

    • @willsvanadventures
      @willsvanadventures  3 месяца назад +1

      @@x4dd I'm not sure but any trim that's the correct size should fit i imagine. Most steels at 16"
