      I pulled up next to an IS350 F sport two days ago at a stoplight and complimented his car, he went on and on about the red mica color and how rare it was, etc. When it was my turn to speak, I relayed how lucky I was to find my Lexus locally recently with only 58k miles on it. He looked at my car and said “yeah that’s nice” (clearly not all that impressed.. )Then when the light changed, we waived and I turned leaving him behind in my 2016 Lexus GS F 😂

    Thanks for making this very detailed video. I've watched probably 5 times now over a couple of weeks. I might just buy myself a '10 ISF over a M3 since I do not track my cars. They are extremely rare in Norway though. There is one for sale at this moment so I am currently knee deep in the struggle. Trying very hard to resist the urge. Your video does not help the resistance though 😆

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  3 года назад +2

      They are becoming rare in the US too. At the time of the video there were 85 for sale and now they are about half available. Even with the RCF, GSF, I still believe the ISF is more desirable.

    • @gresss
      @gresss 3 года назад

      Yeah I bet many of them have been crashed, thrashed or modified to death. The supply of clean ISF's can't stay high forever.
      There are a few of the newer RCF for sale in Norway. Only one ISF though. They are very rare here. I have never seen one on the road, and so far in 2020 this is the second ISF that has been for sale in the country that I have found.
      The $153k pricetag when new made them out of reach for most people. BMW/Mercedes/Audi is what most performance oriented people with money bought back in those days. Not much has changed.
      I'm looking at a german import 2010 with ~75000 miles, ML soundsystem and no sunroof for $45k. Not too bad considering they were $153k new here due to heavy taxation on high horsepower "polluting/inefficient" cars. A new base RCF starts at $140k with no options selected.
      The ISF might become collectible over the coming years so I hope the depreciation won't be too bad if I end up buying it now.

    Hello Edward, what you think about buying a 2014 Lexus GS350 f sport? I know is not a the same level as the ISF, but the Gs is fun enough for a regular driver?

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  4 года назад +3

      albertosamaniego I have experience with a GS350 F Sport. They are fun cars. They have an excellent engine sound, the adjustable suspension, ventilated seats, the sound system is better, and overall feels more upscale. If you’re not expecting a full out race car but wanting something fun to drive and decent acceleration, the GS350 F Sport is the right choice. They depreciated pretty hard, but they should be at the bottom of depreciation so you can snag one up for an excellent deal and have a beautiful luxury car! The 2014+ RWD models have an 8-speed transmission from the ISF!

      Edward M Cars awesome, do you prefer the M3 over the ISF? mostly in terms of engine sound ?
      I have a 335i 2007 and want to trade it for an ISF but I’m just not sure it’s going to be that much of an upgrade over mine

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  4 года назад +1

      I also had a 09 335i moved from that to the C63 to the ISF and now M3. If I had to rank them by engine sound alone the M3 would be at the bottom of my list. It only sounds good when you’re wide open throttle but other than that it doesn’t sound that appealing.
      The ISF has a nice, low, V8 rumble at startup. When idling, there’s that subtle muscle car idle tells people nearby this isn’t your normal Lexus.
      You won’t be disappointed with the performance of the ISF especially the full throttle upshifts in manual/sport mode. It shifts firm but not violent.
      It’s an excellent street car!

    This car is better than the M3 in fact, motor trend actually tested a 2014 model year ISF against an M3 v8 competition, and they put down the same lap time… and that M3 was a two door…

  • @gabeh7373
    @gabeh7373 4 года назад

    Edward
    Why did you sell the car for the M3? How is your ownership experience been with your M3 now that you sold the ISF last year?

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  4 года назад

      I sold the ISF because once I started to attend HPDE events I realized I wanted more from the car. Not that the ISF is a bad car because it’s a really good street car but I wanted to keep it original. I wanted to modify the suspensions and do some bolt ons, but I didn’t want to do all of that to a car what I felt would increase in value in the coming years. It made me not want to drive it and just keep it parked.
      I tried my hardest to like the RCF, I could get into a used 2015-16 for a good price but after driving two of them, it felt that Lexus focused more on the luxury and than the sport. The M3 on the other hand seems like luxury is an after thought and they focus more on the driver feel. The M3 ownership has been good. I had one minor problem with the seat logo cracking but it was replaced while I was still under warranty. I now have 48k on the odometer and two track days and it’s going strong. Do I miss the ISF? Yes I do. I miss the V8, the cold start and the exclusivity of it. It was a sleeper because not many people know that Lexus put a V8 in these cars. I would always get looks at gas station when it would crank up and low V8 rumble would follow.

    • @gabeh7373
      @gabeh7373 4 года назад

      Thank you for your detailed response!... I own a 2010 ISF and stumbled across your video. I was just curious why you got rid of it.
      I like BMW and I respect their engineering how they're always pushing the envelope with performance but truth be told I've been scared to own one because of the maintenance cost😬
      I guess I've been spoiled with my Lexus reliability experience. That being said the S55 motor is a beast and better yet the S58 that's going into the new M3 is even better😎

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  4 года назад +1

      Gabe H, I will say this; don’t let maintenance cost scare you. It’s not that bad. I was afraid, too, after my first experience with my E90 335i was horrible, but now I know what to look for. There’s a lot of customizations with the car which I like. The M3 gives me a challenge when I drive it hard, which I love. The IS F was easy to drive fast and hard without feeling like I was pushing the limits. I’m pretty sure I could beat my M3 0-60 with my old ISF because it puts its power down better. The ISF makes you feel like an expert driver, and the M3 is such a beast I quickly realized I’m not as good as a driver as I thought I was lol

    • @eddiemcars

    How much did your ISF sell for?

  • @KingDrewPhilip
    @KingDrewPhilip Год назад

    Sadly I own an IS250. Truly depressing. Haha kidding. It’s still a nice car just slow and direct injected so I had to spend 600 bucks to clean the intake valves due to some minor carbon buildup. Provably didn’t need to do it but I did it anyhow. Also a rock solid engine but just slow.

    Ive had my 08 for 5 years now 113k miles with FBOs and she is fun and super super reliable as any other toyota. She can boogie for a street car

    So basically you're saying the Is F-sport is the poor man's ISF 😂 no hard feelings man, unfortunately that's all I can afford

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  2 года назад

      That’s perfectly fine. Nothing wrong with the F Sport. You still get the AVS, cool sound and better looks. I mentioned it because some people interchange them or don’t know the difference.

    its more like 12.5 at just over 115 mph...but who's counting...documented in other videos...

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  4 года назад +1

      You’re probably right. I was being conservative. Considering the cars I’ve encountered at the track and street 12.5 @ 115mph is more realistic.
