@@Tonepusher I attended a lecture/performance by Martin Atkins in London a year or two back where he recalled being in the record company office when Al first played him an unreleased reel to reel of what was going to be Ministry's next album A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste

@@Tonepusher Uncle Al did an interview back in the 90’s where he said he knew a whole lot of thrash guitarists who loved playing fast but none of the drummers could keep up. So he used machines where humans failed.
Interestingly I think a generation of drummers didn’t realise that the inhuman tempos in some industrial music was just that: not human. So they learned to play faster and faster.

I would argue that Juke Joint Jezebel is one of KMFDM's most popular tracks but it is from NIHIL, which only came out in '95. Great call on Smothered Hope though, it is probably one of their most popular songs (amongst fans) and if you're really interested, Ministry put out a singles box set way back and they included a live version of Smothered Hope that they covered.
Lastly, it is pretty hard to pick a favorite track off The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Tase but although Thieves may have a steadier beat to follow, Burning Inside has a lot more 'energy' to it for sure.
