I come back to this ad periodically. While it's obviously a marketing campaign, there really is a profound life message within it. Greatness for ourselves, greatness for the world.
Even now, I come back to this ad every so often. This is, without a sliver of doubt, PlayStation's best promotional work. Whoever directed/created this should be hired or called upon more often to make more.
“Who are you to be anonymous? You! Whose name should be spoken in reverend tones or terrified whispers.” That line gave me goosebumps even though I know what he means in the context of games being good or evil.
This ad still holds up. That speech man....gets you pumped up to not just play games...but also gets you feeling like you can take on the world. Excellent writing and marketing.
This commercial is a classic and still holds up well today...so much money was spent on bringing it all together...I love every second of it..and that tuxedo suit, shoes and inside shirt looks very very expensive...GREATNESS AWAITS !!!
This commercial actually inspired me to change my life 11 years ago. I look back on my life then & now. I am now somewhere I never imagined. I thank my younger self often for taking that first step. And I thank this commercial for hyping me up to do it.
My favourite PlayStation advert OF ALL TIME...! (Also, this ad is filled to the brim with Easter eggs. Replay it over and over and I'm sure you'll spot new ones each time!)
This commercial is memorable for a lot of reasons, but two big ones: first, it embraces the strangeness of the video game medium. For all that there is a constant push to make games visually "realistic" and create "playable movies", games are stuffed with surreal ideas - when you stop to consider them outside the context of a game. Second, it demonstrates a certain attitude of intense confidence Sony's Playstation team had following the rocky history of the Playstation 3. Unlike the strange, abstract marketing for PS3 that tried far too hard to be mysterious - which was a sign Sony didn't actually have a clear vision for the product - the PS4 put "memorable experiences" front and center. Even in this surreal piece, a wide variety of authentic video game characters, concepts, play mechanics, and thematic elements are represented. And compared to the PS3, or its direct competitor, the Xbox 1, PS4 was surprisingly unpresumptuous. It wasn't pretending to be a multi media experience or the centerpiece of an entertainment center. It was just a game console. Even its aesthetic design was low, flat, and intentionally stayed out of the way - not drawing attention to itself.
So is it just me, or does anyone else think the world's greatest personal motivator here is supposed to be the Boss from Saints Row? It could just be the purple suit that makes me think that.
These commercials give me chills everytime. Like the "Michael" commerical.. Especially when your a true gamer and care more about the Story rather than Online Multiplayer. I can't wait to see their commercial for promoting the Ps5. We will not be denied!!
Watching this again after so many years... I can only say it's really held up to the test of time. Fantastic work.
Khyrberos maybe my all time favorite game console commercial. That was a helluva monologue.
Just about to say this. It’s unbelievably great. Love this commercial.
Still tops anything we've seen for PS5
Thank you! We film it in México City
2023 and is still cool!

Same... weirdly inspiring/motivating. 👍👍😎😎
Ditto.
Best motivational speaker I've ever seen
Honestly I feel like there was more passion in those days and that’s why we got stuff like this. Not that there isn’t any right now but not as much
One of the best gaming commercials ever. "Greatness awaits! And we will not be denied!"
Then “Ps5 out of stock”
Even now, I come back to this ad every so often. This is, without a sliver of doubt, PlayStation's best promotional work. Whoever directed/created this should be hired or called upon more often to make more.
i found myself returning to this over the years as well
“Who are you to be anonymous? You! Whose name should be spoken in reverend tones or terrified whispers.” That line gave me goosebumps even though I know what he means in the context of games being good or evil.
Decade later and I still get a chill from this monologue. I think it's the switch from you you you, to we.
This ad still holds up.
That speech man....gets you pumped up to not just play games...but also gets you feeling like you can take on the world. Excellent writing and marketing.
I'm pretty sure the writing came from Shakespeare or at the very least it existed long before this commercial or at least parts of it.
@@darkmyro Huh...interesting.
Well either way it's pretty cool.
@@darkmyro It reminds me of Marianne Williamson's A Return to Love :"Our deepest fear" passage more.
This commercial is a classic and still holds up well today...so much money was spent on bringing it all together...I love every second of it..and that tuxedo suit, shoes and inside shirt looks very very expensive...GREATNESS AWAITS !!!
Sorry...not a tuxedo...sportcoat....
Money wasn't spent on it at all
This is my daily pep talk. It never gets old.
Mine too
Mine too
This is still the most iconic moment
I know it's just a commercial but I get chills every time.
This commercial actually inspired me to change my life 11 years ago. I look back on my life then & now. I am now somewhere I never imagined. I thank my younger self often for taking that first step. And I thank this commercial for hyping me up to do it.
can you please explain in detail?
I'm an Xbox man but I come back to this ad every once and awhile to feel something surreal and its great every time! happy gaming fellas
They weren't lying, were they?
I wake up to this every morning #2k17
7 years and it's still one of the most influentual speeches in my life. Thank you Playstation.
This is the best Ad ever,
I love this commercial. I'm a writer and whenever I need a little inspiration...I watch this.
One person dislikes and denies greatness.
sadly . . . . . 8 persons now
283
24
36 people denied greatness
They were denied greatness by Microsoft.
2021 I still say this to myself everyday.
2020 - If you would deny it to yourself, you would deny it to the entire world. And we will not be denied. Excellent!
I've watched this 100 times and I love it everytime
This is the most inspirational speech I've heard. It gives me more confidence, than any of my coaches ever did.
I didn't realize how old this commercial was. Glad I've never forgotten it, such a great ad 😁
yes it is unforgettable because of the speech
Best video game commercial ever. Where is he? The ps5 coming out!
i love every second of this
The Shield should be in this commercial!
He is Joshua. Leading those who are lost from the former leader mosses in a realm of chaos..
My favourite PlayStation advert OF ALL TIME...!

It was a great announcement of the generation and it is the greatest summary of it. PlayStation truly delivered as promised.
I don’t know why, but for me, the classic “PlayStation” sound-bite at the end was the epic icing on this incredibly epic cake.
So is it just me, or does anyone else think the world's greatest personal motivator here is supposed to be the Boss from Saints Row? It could just be the purple suit that makes me think that.
fuck yhea men
First saw it around the time it came out online, and had a few years without watching it at all. Great special effects work and crossover for 2013.
1:03 Welcome to the anime world
I can't see anything on 1:03
Why?
Why
@@nihat7930 Take a good look!!
I watch this every time I think about...It never gets old, love this 👌🏻😁
I play this every time I feel like I need motivation.
I replace the “yous” with “I’s” but during my weekly meditation I always recite this speech for a self affirmation.
We ALL need to hear this, now more than ever!!
This still my fav add from ps for their console
"Promised greatness, delivered more"
-astro's playroom, when you find the ps4
1:04 This is much better than avengers endgame
I'm pretty sure this is what Heaven looks like.
This brings back memories
I still love this so much
aug 2023 sill watching it
For some reason this reminds me of Doctor Who
I'm a published author and this is EXACTLY what it's like inside my head to deal with the self doubt
Watching this after getting my Ps5
Did he just bitch slap a clicker into another dimension?😂
The simple days use to love seeing this ad
Great commercial :)
One of the most epic commercials ever!
This really inspires me and makes me glad I'm not ordinary by default.
Anybody notice the dovahkin
Brandon Graham what time?
At 1:20
As someone who grew up playing Xbox this commercial kicks ass.
This ad was too amazing to just be for a game console
Still the best greatest PlayStation commercial ever
This changed my life
These commercials give me chills everytime. Like the "Michael" commerical.. Especially when your a true gamer and care more about the Story rather than Online Multiplayer. I can't wait to see their commercial for promoting the Ps5.
We will not be denied!!
I was here before the PS5 Future of Gaming event part II.
This puts a smile on my face
Still probably the best commercial for video games imo
I'm disappointed that they didn't make this into a PS4 game. I would've played it. It would be called "Greatness"
Esse comercial é muito foda arrepia até o último fio de cabelo
First time I saw this I knew instantly that the PS would be the superior console! Have yet to see Xbox put out anything like this, before or since!
Commercials and ads don't mean anything. Just ask Sega
That guy was in the series APB
Years later, it's still true.
We need this crossover game based on this commerial on the ps4 and ps5
who is the main actor?
The actor is Taylor Handley.
Why does this ad make me cry?
this came out 7 years ago and has over 57,000 views.
there are 21 dislikes.
Total.
Fantastic!
They had irl RTX
Jordan Abina brought me here.
Greatness awaits in 2020
clicker from the last of us at 1:02
And what an amazing punch. Just look how this fucker learns flying!
it’s been 10 years? :O
Can we get another commercial like this please
Greatness awaits PlayStation
whos the character (not the actor) in the purple suit?
i heard it is suppose to be a special character like boss leveled, but a "good guy"
Anyone else here just because JAG brought it up in his mall videos
Every time they release a new console they should've kept using the greatness awaits slogan
Still the best
Yeahjy....awesome *brofist*
1:02 clicker
Most epic commercial ever. I love this with all my heart 😁
I may be an Xbox person, but this was a great ad
