  • We love getting our hands on new tractor attachments, and about a month ago we got in the Baumalight 3P24 Stump Grinder. We gave it to our friend Erick who lives nearby and has over 50 stumps to remove on his property! So after a bit of use, we met up with him to give you the overview of the attachment, and his experience running it on the back of his John Deere 4044. We'll also go over the sweet setup he's running with homemade tricks and some industry best accessories.

I use that 3P24 on my 3038e, but my dealer just ran levers to the side so I can stand to the side and run it. (Mine does have that control valve -- very important!) It is a pain to have to get back on and off every time I have to move it, but I love that I can see what it's doing very clearly at all times.
Also, I thought I was just going to see a great video about the Baumalight (and it was!), but then I got to see that dadgum PTO Link yet again, and I got a whole new case of the "wannas" all over again! Curse you, Courtney!!! (Just kidding, of course -- bless you for always bringing us such great content!)

I was #293 like . . . there is nothing better than an informational and product demo on a Saturday from GWT. Seriously, the spandex monster does not understand how I can spend so much time watching equipment work. I've told her that perhaps she would if she painted her fingernails John Deere green! :)

You can get a flow restrictor and place it in one of the hydraulic lines to the control the speed of rotation of a snow blower chute or any hydraulic motor or ram if your machine is not equipped with a rate control.

I have this exact stump grinder and don’t have that extra control thing. I have a cab tractor so it wouldn’t work. Even without that you still have a the flow control to slow the side to side speed down. I don’t feel you need it for the up and down. I have a summit diverter so have two remotes and it works very well that way.

Many of Those stumps should be cut closer to the ground. Would require so much less grinding.

I'd rather use your favorite attachment, a backhoe. Dig the stumps out root and all, fill the hole and then use the stumps for fuel or start a campfire and have a cookout.

Instead of using a clamp you Override by attaching a switch on the consul to complete the electrical circuit for the third function Solenoid .

The one taller stump was my first run with the grinder & I wanted to get a good view of what it could do. The rest of the stumps I cut lower. Can’t cut too close to the ground as I’d hit sand & the chain saw would dull immediately.

Did you notice the small bird attacking the Eagle ? Common - small birds don't like large birds near them. I wonder if the Eagle attacks the nests - never saw one or heard that. I know the little ones will gang up and go after a Bald Eagle and run them off.

Does anyone have any idea if you could operate the stump grinder hydraulics from inside a tractor cab with the back window open (specifically on a John Deere 4066R)?

    • @jerrypedersen8251
      @jerrypedersen8251 2 года назад

I have a Kubota L4760 and the 1P24. Works great with the rear window up. If you have the controller lowered to run and you want to move "raise the controllers" or they hit the back of your head. I grind stumps vs pull them as I don't have to deal with a pile of stumps. So far I took out 55 stumps and another 50 to go.

These types of Stump girders you’re featuring are just not great! There’s an Italian model that is WAY BETTER. I think it’s much more expensive, but a very different idea.

I have a 2038r and don’t really need one, but it looks awesome. Love your channel!
On another topic, Any chance you could make your “front hoe” movable. Meaning you have it in the middle. Could a future iteration have it move all the way right or left manually? I’m thinking of trenching with it at the base of a hill or berm to put drainage in, but want it to be right up to the edge vs 3’ from the edge.

Good item, typically only see them on higher HP machines. Different strokes for different folks. I see advantages of each.
Intentionally don't want the front hoe bucket to be movable. That would provide an uneven force on the loader arms and have a higher liiehood of torqueing or twisting the arms. Maybe not for the experienced operator, but I just don't think it's worth the risk.

    • @DanD-js8gx

@@GoodWorksTractors ok GREAT point about the front hoe. That’s how inexperienced I am. Makes sense. Thanks for the reply!
