    I'd like to thank you sir from the bottom of my heart. I'm new to this hobby, and I bought two day ago a rancilio silvia v6 and the eureka mignon manuale. I struggled to find the right coffee flow. And finally, someone on the web came up with a simple solution on how to find the zero spot, I tried your method, found the zero spot, and turned the knob 3 steps, but the flow was a bit too fast, so I moved 1 step to the right and voila ! It's perfect. Thank youuuuuuuu

    I used the setting at which no coffee was ejected from the grinder as 'zero'. This was before the burrs touched, and I thought it was better for the grinder or burrs. I mean, if you aren't getting any coffee output, that's a good enough zero for me, anyway.

    When you say to back off by 3 steps are you referring to a single hash mark or by one number? The Eureka Oro Mignon SD has steps (2 hash marks) in between each number.

    My machine's knob setting (0-5) doesn't match up with the position of my burrs, they're touching at (4) is there anyway to sync the adjustment knob with the burrs?

    • @clivecoffee
      @clivecoffee  10 месяцев назад

      That's completely normal. That's the "zero" point of your specific grinder.

    • @whatsinaname6069
      @whatsinaname6069 9 месяцев назад +2

      But that doesn’t answer the specific question. I would also love to know if the adjustment knob can easily be removed from shaft and re-aligned so that the zero point for my specific Mignon with my specific burrs is zero on the knob.

    Is there a chance that the burrs will be damaged when they touch at the zero point? Does it have a negative effect on the quality of the burrs?

    I'm actually getting a Eureka Mignon MK2 in the next few days.
    I bought it used for about a year and a half for 130$, and bought a single dose extension for 20$, in total that's 150$, which I think is a good deal, what do you think about this deal too?
    Also my main question,
    Once I get it. I will be dialing in the grinder. I wanted to know the zero point, but doing so should I FULLY clean it? and what's the main point you said it should be clean or new.
    And thanks for your awesome video!

    This was fairly helpful... I Don't know anything about Espresso making but i knew I did not want to drive 17 miles to go into town to Starbucks. So i got the Bianca V3 and Eureka Oro Mignon Single Dose grinder... I did order both from Clive Coffee, which I have been overall happy with them. But My shots were taking like 90 seconds and longer and I thought something was wrong with my Espresso machine and even put in a trouble ticket. I did not think it was the grinder for the first few days. Because I got the "Clive Coffee Grinder Dialing Service (it was free with Grinder/Machine order). HONESTLY... I WOULD NOT RECOMENDING GETTING IT!!! after watching this video and then starting from "Zero" and 18 shots later... I realized that grinder was not Dialed in and that the Bianca was likely totally fine the whole time. Also this was not an isolated incident as multiple customers wrote in their reviews that the dial in service was way off and they had to re-set their grinder on their own.
    Honestly, from someone who did not know what they were doing. I was counting on them to have it set up properly. But I think you would just be better off doing it yourself using this and other videos as a guide. Especially if your new to a machine/grinder only because i would rate that particular service as unreelable at best.

    • @clivecoffee
      @clivecoffee  8 месяцев назад

      Apologies for your experience. The grinder dial-in service is not perfect, and it is expected that you will have to make adjustments out of the box. That's just the nature of the game. When the dial-in is very off, then it's when we have to evaluate how the grinders are adjusted and reevaluate when this occurs. When you're working with a living, organic product, it's difficult to get it right each time since there are soooo many variables that go into pulling a good shot of espresso.

      @@clivecoffee I would classify this as “FAR FROM PERFECT” as in not even close. I get the damage control response. But this “fine print” is not on the marketing material… if it’s a service to help the customer, it really needs to be improved significantly… or not offered at all.

    I feel like this video could be confusing to some. Your recipe is your dose and your yield; time is sort of a secondary data point. Stopping a shot short of your recipe because of time is not a best practice IMO.

  • @steverealtyandfinance8171
    @steverealtyandfinance8171 6 месяцев назад

    I keep seeing in videos 18g for double shots but my understanding is that for double shots it should be 14g.

    • @clivecoffee
      @clivecoffee  6 месяцев назад +1

      It depends on the size of the basket you're using. Using a larger basket will allow you to dose more coffee, which a lot of coffees can benefit from. Using a 14g basket is surely a traditional way, but it's not the only way.

    What’s the point of finding out the zero point??? The more I turn it clockwise the finer it gets. I don’t get it

    • @clivecoffee
      @clivecoffee  4 месяца назад +1

      The zero point on every mignon grinder is different so it's useful if your grinder jams and you're lost when dialing in. It can be a good reference point. It's also useful when you're aligning the burrs when replacing them.
