This is sensational for a midi mockup! The realism is just incredible👏👏 I feel that everyword that I say that is positive about this digital performance, is still an understatement of how really amazing this achievement is. Congratulations for an amazing midi achievement. Unbelievably good👋
Wow, what an amazing SW mockup SImon... all sounds very organic and full of life and details... programming is top notch and the mix is excellent too! Congrats man! 🙂
As everyone else has said, astonishing. Are you working from the notated score or reconstructing by ear? Either way, it's truly incredible work. And I say that as a fellow midi user (Cubase).
Excellent stuff! Boring question, which string libraries am I hearing here? All very musical and expressive. Would love to hear you talk about your approach, things you've learned along the way in terms of where to focus your efforts.
Not a boring question at all! This one is pretty much all Cinematic Studio Strings (marcato articulation more or less all the way through, including the double notes and trills)
@@vincecomposer Yes! But still CSS. There's no gliss on CSS, so I played in the two notes with portamento, exported it as an audio file, slowed it down slightly & moved it into the right place :)
I use a mix of modelled & recorded libraries - I really rate Cinematic studio series, acousticsamples & Aaron Venture’s stuff but there are dozens of orchestral libraries that I haven’t tried :)
Just the concert score, but making the necessary little cuts to make it match the structure of the film soundtrack version (apart from the opening bars which are just the concert version). Please let me know if I need to take the video down!
@@simonpassmore ok. So the score that is available from Hal Leonard? No, nothing about taking it down, I’m always looking for the real versions of full scores and many times the ones published are not full and complete, they are made easier for student orchestras to play.
That’s a relief! Haha. RUclips correctly identified it but said ‘the owner gives permission for it to be uploaded’ - it’s not/can’t be monetised for me anyway. Yes, the printed HL one is the real deal as far as I could hear - I had to make a few tiny structural alterations to match it up with the soundtrack version, but the material is all there from what I can hear. I also made very tiny changes to the orchestration just to help with programming - eg adding piano or piccolo for a bit more definition in places. Definitely not one for school orchestras either way! 😅
@@simonpassmore That's great to know as I wanted to purchase them and didn't want to get the 5th grade version. LOL Would love to know which libraries you used. Do you user key switches/articulation maps or separate tracks for each?
@michaellaumusic I’ve given back the copy I used now but looking online don’t forget you can get the conductor score ($80) instead of the full parts ($1000)! Looks like it has the Tie Fighter attack cue as well. I always use separate channels, each with all but one articulation switched off. Instruments and fx have changed a little since I made this but you can never go wrong with the combo of recorded + modelled/hybrid! My main template is normally CSS/CSW/Infinite Brass/VWinds, but there are loads of quality libraries from both the recorded and hybrid-modelled sides :)

"Impressive. Most impressive." - Darth Vader
Okay I'm astonished, i don't think I've ever heard orchestral programming at this level. Incredible!
It really helps that the cue is an absolute masterpiece of both composition and orchestration haha
@@simonpassmore true true
This mock-up is fantastic. Great detail in the fast passages and the brass sound pretty good.
Absolutely awesome, bravo.
Another insane mockup! Extremely impressive how accurate you're able to get everything
Excellent mockup 🙂 Love this que
SUPERB work mate and thanks for the plug too!
Thanks mate! No problem at all. Looking forward to teaming up for RotJ!

Thanks very much Eric! Really pleased the mix sounds okay, that's the area I need most work on... getting there slowly!

Very talented.
Really insane!
Nicely done Simon! 😁
Glorious. The force is with you. Maybe a bit of editing mouse injury as well.

@@simonpassmore Interesting! Thanks for the info. Did you layer in anything for the smeary portamento bits? e.g. 0:33

So whats your opinion on the best orchestral libraries? i'd love to know

@@simonpassmore That's awesome, either brass or strings Cinematic studio series is on my list for libraries to pick up next. incredible job btw!
