Awww blue jays are so smart, they watch and wait and see that it's safe for another bird to eat and then they swoop in for their meal :p

It isn't even that hard or expensive. Guy just took a short walk with some trail mix and veggies.

I found a dead one the other day at my bus stop is absolutely beautiful I thought about it all day at work and when I got back from work about 10 hours later it was still at the bus stop not one Soul was kind enough to properly give it a burial so I gently put the bird into a makeshift coffin and put blue and pink flowers inside a blue crystal and some other things and today I will be holding a little funeral for it I also play music of birds in the wild chirping for it to transition it into the next life they are very symbolic birds and hold a lot of meaning and I will forever be grateful for finding this bird for me it's telling me to spread my wings and fly that life is short that we all die

Your animal magnetism is enviable! 🥺 Jays are my fave birds of the corvid family.
And am going to have to borrow FOMO term whenever wanting to be included in happenings... 😅

I hope the day comes when i can do this too. Think i live in too big of a city for them to ever trust a person that much but only time will tell.

I have respected them too much to get too close. Now that I know it's possible, I'm gonna have to try this !

It’s interesting. I have four right now that I feed daily. One has zero inhibitions in landing on my hand for a peanut. He’ll even sit there for a while. The other three, two REALLY wanna do it. They’ll sit there watching and analyzing and trying to work up the courage. Eventually, I’ll toss them a peanut as I just don’t want them to think they have to. Bluejays have insanely distinct personalities. I have a few that I can’t tell apart visually, but I instantly know who’s who from personalities.

How did you get the other birds to eat out of your hand to activate the FOMO move?

Thats awesome..so I have a whole clan of like 6-8 bluejays that live in the small piece of woods rt behind my house. I feed them and the other birds everyday but havent tried hand feeding them yet. They get close to me when they see me then I throw a bunch of peanuts on the ground for them. I gotta try ur method lol

In what ways is your approach to feeding jays different from your approach to smaller (easier) songbirds like chickadees?
