    Thanks for the great demonstration of digital pens, the other day I was looking around Best Buy for a digital pen to write notes, but can also be used for sketching. There were several digital pens, but I did not know which would work best for both note-taking and sketching. After watching your demonstration, the selection is much easier. Thanks

    Thank you for your video!! However, I have a question about the compacity between Surface pen and HP envy convertible x360 ar0113au (2019). The laptop is supported by Window Ink but I am not sure. Also, if it is usable, can I customize buttons on the Surface pen using Window 10? Please help me!

    Steven, you video is great. I have a question, however. I have a Dell Latitude 5290 2-in-1 and have gone through 3 pens so far. I had a PN557W model pen and 2 PN579X model pens. With the PN557W, I was having trouble with the top button. That ended with the circuit board for that end on my table, out of my pen. Both of the PN579X pens ended up with nibs that ceased to function. The exact cause is not known. But, it might be contact with even the most minor of liquids (in my case, my wet hair after showering) (I did observe even the screen activating, possibly from contact with my wet hair). I am considering ordering the Wacom Bamboo Ink pen. Do you know if it works with Dell’s Latitude 5290 2-in-1? Do you know if it also has more resistance to liquids? I have been trying to get an answer; but, I have not found anything. I contacted Wacom and was told that it is incompatible. But, I do not know if it is incompatible or if it is simply not tested (as their chart of tested devices [their “compatibility” chart] lists the 5289 2-in-1, but not the 5290 2-in-1). My hunch is that, unless the AES technology is much more stringent than is EMR, I see no reason why it should not work. I have a Surface Pro 2 and I have gone through many pens across multiple manufacturers (Wacom inclusive) with that. I hope that you have tested the Bamboo Ink pen on the Latitude 5290 2-in-1 or know someone who has done testing with this configuration and can give an answer. Have a great day!

      I also had a problem with a Lenovo Flex 5 1570 (8th generation Intel i7) that when it went to sleep mode would not subsequently wake up through tapping a key etc. I would have to do a hard shut down with the power key to get back into Windows on reboot. After a lot of troubleshooting it was determined that the laptop had some bad hardware. I exchanged it for new replacement (same model laptop) and all now works well. I have also had good success with the Lenovo Active Pen 2 purchased separately from Lenovo - all the functions work including the top button.

    Thanks for the review of various types of active pen. It would be good to test it like an actual user would use the pen and device, ie with the palm+wrist on the screen instead of either floating over or at the edge of the screen. Palm rejection testing is very crucial for usability of any stylus pen usage today.

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks. Perhaps I should have held it in portrait mode, but I always take my notes in landscape and my wrist was wresting on the device, not floating. It is just the camera angle making it look that way.

      Michael Aranda hi Michael, according to this article it uses a directstylus if a capacitive nature. I don't think the Bamboo ink I have will work but there are other version which may do if you go on their website www.google.com/amp/s/androidcommunity.com/nvidia-tegra-note-7s-directstylus-pen-brings-out-the-artist-in-you-20140512/amp/

    Useful video! Is that the 15" model of the Surface Book you're using? I'm looking at getting one but heard the Bamboo Ink only works on the 13" model (The new Surface Pen doesn't have an eraser on the side button which is crucial for graphic design, so looking at alternatives)

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад

      Thanks, glad you liked it ! Doesn't the top of the new Surface Pen not function as the eraser? Yes, it was the new 15" Surface Book, GTX 1060. The Bamboo Ink pen does work on it...it can switch profiles so is the most versatile pen to have in my books.

    • @marwoodmarwood6877

      The new surface pen does have an eraser at the top, but it's not as accurate as using the pen nib (plus having to flip it around and re-grip) is a little annoying. Really good to know about the bamboo ink - it was getting to be a deal breaker with buying a SB2 15" - thanks for the info!

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  3 года назад

      Hi Amaad, I think mine is still their first one. I like it, it is comfortable to hold. I still prefer the bamboo ink because it has flat edges, bit like a pencil so your fingers don't slip and I can use it on any pen supported PC.
      The Yoga line up these days have their own integrated pen which remind me of the ones Samsung use on their Notes. Bit larger but still fiddly to use.
      Nowadays I use the Apple Pencil to take all my notes though.

      Hey Carlos, thanks. Are you sure it is Windows Ink capable? You can switch between Wacom and Ntrig profiles on the pen by depressing both buttons on the side for a couple of seconds. Have you tried that? I looked on the Dell website and there is no mention of Windows Ink and there usually a sticker on the laptop that says it too.

      OWNorDISOWN Tech Decisions Made Easy.. Hey Steven, so nice you are replying.. that's what I'm affraid of, that is not compatible, i dont see the windows ink stickers, even though the guy best buy assured me it would work.
      i managed to pair the device with my laptop, when I click/double click top button on the pen it does prompt the sticky notes app on the screen, but it won't write on it when i try. I did try to change the configuration as you mention by holding the buttons on the side, i see a tiny light flashing on the pen, but still no succcess. I also tried to download the driver update from Wacom website, but when installing i get medsage that 'no laptop device was found in the system'. I guess it won't work..

      I bought this laptop for primarily note taking and pen support. But it is horrible for that. Coming from 3 years on a Lenovo laptop, never realised truly how good the pen was (Active pen 1). If the pen support matters to you, I strongly suggest against buying it. The activation of pen requires way too much pressure which for me it means when I write too fast, it misses a lot of the strokes. I'm in the process of returning it now and looking at something like the ideapad C340 or a Microsoft Surface.

      exklim Tech News So here's the thing. I've checked some of the comments of this products and they are pretty negative. The main reason why it's so low is because "it doesn't work with my laptop". Some people say it works on some 5000 series and it doesn't on orthers. That's odd

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  6 лет назад

    • @andrefelipepianaro7048
      @andrefelipepianaro7048 6 лет назад

      Apparently it has something to do with the screen of the laptop. What I don't understand is how some people were able to have it working and others not. I've read someone saying that it is because of the type of the screen Dell used for the Inspiron 5000 series. I am not sure a company would produce different features for the same serie, it just doesn't add up.

    • @OWNORDISOWN

      When you say "jitter" are you referring to when the pen input doesnt respond?
      In my experience , unless I am trying to use a capacitive stylus on a windows ink device, that is more due to the panel itself. For example the Asus Zenbook flip 14 was prone to that with the same pens. If I had encountered anything like that in this test I would have mentioned it.
      Perhaps you mean something else?

Thx for responding, nop I didn't mean that, if I search for "jitter active pen" in RUclips u will find it, I think it's the main issue with this technology, once u are making precise artworks u find that this problem makes the quality of ur work worst or not necessarily worst but more difficult to achieve the best results, the tablets of wacom the best ones and some pcs doesn't have it or have it very light while others have a lot, I'm getting crazy to find a good machine or good tests that show this problem, u find itself buying a 2000 laptop having this issue and it's crazy

      From comments I just read Wacom seems the best. A good test would be the bamboo ink pen as you can switch between that and WPP. That would rule out the pen, but communication with the screen itself.
      If I do any tests in the future I will make sure to do the jitter test 👍
