I really adored the Shire Hosea offers in the beginning. Such a beautiful and strong creature, towering over every other breed.
I accidentally shot mine after it got downed by some odriscalls I ran to valentine got a horse reviver and ran back only to press the wrong button and shoot the horse on accident needless to say I was broken

Ive had all of them, I only ride the thoroughbred throughout the game. It aint the fastest, but getting bucked constantly by a spooked Arabian really gets annoying lol. nice vid.

Actually, the thoroughbred brindle that I stole from a gang who tried to take me down maxes out at 10 speed. Health and stamina isn't great, but there are tonics for that. It's a bulldozer in rough terrain, and I prefer it over the Fox trotter now. Not too happy about snakes though.
Go with the perlino andalusian or the dark bay turkoman. I've trampled wolves and small gators with those horses.

My main horse was the palomino standardbred you see in a random event. Her owner tries to look at her feet, and she kicks him and kills him. I nicknamed her man killer. She was my favourite
I named it Socks. It literally looks like it's wearing socks. And it socked the owner. Maybe one of the best horses.

I always killed that horse in that encounter for some reason, to avenge the guy I guess? Just feels very scumbag to keep a dead man's horse in this game for some reason.

I really like the turkoman horse. Really underrated
You can get the brown one in the mission where you steal the braithwaite horses. You just keep feeding it until you get a bond with the horse right before you deliver them

I rode right past that encounter without knowing there was an Arabian available to steal. It seems like anyone can attack you in St Denis or if you get involved in anything you end up getting shot at and run out of town by a hundred cops over a $5 bounty. Super annoying.

a turkoman that belongs to the braithwaites can be stolen in a mission. just feed it til you establish first level bonding with it and dont hand it over to the horse fence brothers.
You can hand it over, but you have to bond with it first and then just call it after

That is so weird seeing that lady respawn with that horse. I've played 400 hours and had no idea about stuff like that. or the couple randomly spawing and taking their horse. There seems to be endless things to discover about this game.

*On my second playthrough. (I take my time, I'm a completionist & I explore **_every_** nook & cranny!) This time, I have kept the horses that you come across in the course of the game like the big Shire Hosea provides in the very beginning, John's Rachel from the epilogue, the pre-order warhorse & thoroughbred. And of course Buell!*
The Mahogany Bay Tennessee Walker (the horse you get in the very first mission) is also one of a kind like the black Shire, Buell and Rachel.

Best horse in my second playthrough is a Nokota. Not top by stats, but fast enough, nible and CALM and reliable.
I feel like it has the best animations of all the horses, it looks the most realistic especially in the front legs. I wish there was a brown coat though
Hubby and I just got the dapple Fox Trotter from the Blackwater stables using the wagon glitch method. Worked perfectly!

The nokota blue horse can be stolen from Maximo who gives the stranger side mission for Jack Hall treasure map

That horse is bugged, wouldn’t let me stable it then game spawned in a random Tennessee Walker in its place during a cut scene. Weird af.
Always go for all black standard bred when I start. You can also get the all black by fellas looking to race. Just lasso them off and you'll have more than 1 😉
I found the white Arabian while exploring the map, so I tamed her and named her Diamond. One of my favourites. I could have tamed the warped brindle Arabian if I wanted to, as I randomly found it when going to see the Reservation for the first time. I knew about the white Arabian but not this one. And apparently the Thoroughbred is somewhat rare. I tamed a dapple grey stallion recently. Been wanting a Thoroughbred for a while, ocassionaly seen wild ones appear. Was also happy to get a stallion because I keep on getting mares, and while I'm all for my girls, I also like the variation. At least with the mares I won't have to see the balls lmao.

You guys can also get the black Arabian in chapter 2 by going to Saint Denis at 2 am, and you'll find a French couple riding it! I caught a buttermilk buckskin Kentucky Saddler the other day in story mode and it had upgraded stats. Was a pretty surprising find.
Arabian is my favorite but I love the Hungarian half bred you get from that mission with the doctor outside of Valentine
The Black Arabian can trigger all around the theatre. I caught that guy closer to the train station south. The Arabian was near a small brick wall that had a sign on it.
Love the perlino andalusian! It's beautiful and never bucked me off even when a bear charged at me in the snow

Same here, never bucks me off. Definitely my favourite horse although in my most recent playthrough, I stole Wróbel’s Hungarian Halfbred and it’s also a beast! So beautiful too
My favourite is Shire. I know it's not the fastest one, but is so large and beautiful for sure.
Once I think I need exactly this breed, and didn't found where I can buy one. Then, some poor fella calmly riding on his wagon with two of Shires.
Of course, I politely asked him to give me one of them, and he was beyond joyful to agree.
One of horses was totally black, and the other was white with black spots. I took last one.
But when I gave her cleaning spots immediately disappeared, and she turns out glossy and shiny white. I named her Перлинка (Perlynka) - pearl in Ukrainian.

- Grey Racing mare for the Kiowa Mare from Lonesome Dove
- Blue Roan racer for the death head’s horse in Passin’ Through and the song “Last Comanche moon”
- Line back Dun mustang for Monkey Face in Monte Wash
- A big throughbred racing red Stud for Bo in True Grit

I've had a few of those in my 1st playthrough, but now in my 2nd im using the Beautiful Turkoman
Great Video, my favorite of them is actually the Black Stallion American Standard bred. It’s probably the most beautiful horse in the game, and they’re quick, bond faster than any other breed and will let you shoot a panther, bear, or pack of wolves without bucking you. Just like all others though they don’t care for snakes but won’t run and will run off from the gators when too close, Andelusian would be my second choice for multi purpose horse.
I love the all black standardbred too, but she still bucks me with panthers lol
my fav too. Was the horse I ran with my whole first play thru. Called her Black Belle :P
For the pinto I recommend the Albanian for amatures 3 strat
Don't know why people think the Arabian horses are the best. They spook so easily and are always jumpy. You want a calm horse that doesn't buck you off when a cougar/gator/bear/wolf growls at you or during a shoot out. I'm experimenting with a beautiful Hungarian halfbred that I caught in Big Valley. Hoping it's the staunch rock of a horse that I've been looking for all along.
That's why i stick with my mustang hard headed but I aint got bucked once yet

My first play through i came across a random guy in the desert outside of valentine early on that had a blue roan nokota. Never saw one before so i shot him and took his horse. Used that for probably 75% of the game. My current play through im only in ch.2 and im really diggin the ardennes. I never had one the first time through. Tonight im gonna try the glitch for the mft and see if its been patched on the ps5

My favorite horse in the game has been the brindle thoroughbred. Got him from a bounty hunter before he despawned. Same stats as the old veterans horse maybe a lil faster and he doesnt buck you off which is great.

For some reason I really liked the brown Kentucky Saddler with the white spots on its coat. Loved the colour - don’t know anything about speed etc. but I’m guessing it develops the same for all horses once you bond with them

I got the white Arabian relatively easily. I'm only in chapter 2.

The Andalusian is not bad in terms of life and stamina but from what I've heard it's that courage doesn't change even despite the fact that it's a war horse, it's a shame yet in real life it was used for centuries.
In my first playthrough, I went for the White Arabian since it is one of the best horses to get in the game. Though, I ended up getting spoiled for the ending of the game and ended up putting it down for some time. I decided to restart and play through the game again but this time, I am avoiding getting the White Arabian because it's the only one in the game and if you get it early while playing as Arthur, then it will ultimately be shot/killed in a scripted scene in the late game. And even if you don't use it for that mission, from what I have heard is none of the horses you have in your stable as Arthur carry over once you play as John for the post-game so they are just gone. So, I figured I'd save some of the really rare/good horses until the end of the game so I can still use them as John.
You can go back to the White Arabian point again and get it done once more, I recently did this👍🏻

The horse I got I don't see much people talking about it I got it from a side mission where you go hunting with a man called himech as I remember and you will get it from him when you complete all his missions. it got a very beautiful gold color and blue eyes and it states just like the arabian
I tried all of them! For me the fox trotter is the best horse in the game and that silver pinto looks gorgeous 🥰🥰!! 2nd best i will have the turkoman!

I stole a Brindle Thoroughbred from someone and wow. I highly recommend to learn what it looks like and get one. Almost the same stats as Fox Trotter and it's a much taller horse. It is super fast.

It’s indeed the most rare of all horses, and the most beautiful. All the others pale in comparison. They either look like a lame Pony, or they have crazy eyes, or look like a dog with some skin disease, except for the other two that look like the shire but not as beautiful.

I lost mine doing the horseman challenge. I tried to jump the bridge, and he went down.
The Red Chestnut is the most prettiest of them all. But not worth the stall room when the black and white is faster. I personally use Turkumans, they are pretty fast and have alot of health(10) And you don't get bucked off that easily
The best horse is the Turkoman. Good stamina, good warhorse and it‘s just beautiful
You can get the Missouri Foxtrotter without sniping a woman. In the Sidequest Arkadia for Beginner, when you skip the end cinematic and ride fast after the passing Horses you can catch and tame him. But only if you jump on his Back, with Lasso is not possible (so I get mine at the 5th attempt)

I wish post game we can have more horses stored at john's ranch in the stable. Like an extra 3-4 as a post game reward. There's so many nice horses and sucks we can only have 4 at a time
I'm using a brown massive Shire from a mission which we go burn Braithwaits' tobacco fields. In that mission you take 2 horses and I kept it as my main horse. It looks great definitely a gentle giant.
My older brother who played this game gave me the red arabian horse until it died in the final chapter 6 mission and now epilogue-today im still with rachel and an lemoyne raider horse
I remember catching white Arabian for one and a half hour, finally catching him and cause I was watching Breaking Bad serie, I named him Jesse Pinkman. Did I cry at the end? Hell yea, I did

Am I the only one who actually loves the Palomino Morgan you get at the start of Act 2 before going on a bear hint with Hosea? I’ve have quite a few play-throughs and its actually a very decent horse thats very agile and very easy to bond with, and actually quite fast. I think everyone gets rid of it straightaway because of the stats but stats can be very misleading.

@Solar_rpg I used to be all about them fast horses that you mentioned. But now I’ve gone full circle. The small ordinary looking ones manoeuvre better in my perception. Speed and acceleration, yes I give that to the race horses. But if I want nimble handling especially through towns, woodlands, and when you are shooting while running circles around pursuers, the humble morgan takes the cake.
The morgans are beautiful and I would ride them if I could get past the fact that Arthur makes them look like a toy. The size just looks silly to me
Yea I actually kinda like it and once you get a saddle that improves the speed and acceleration by 2 spots it makes for a really decent horse to have early on

I'm thinking maybe it could be a good idea to go horse hunting the first time you are prompted to get a horse and just use that. This video helps in that regard, although I'm pretty sure a lot of these are unavaiable at that time.
I found my best horse up in the mountain area where the game starts a beautiful white horse.

In my latest playthrough I’m really enjoying the Strawberry Roan Ardennes from the crashed wagon near Flatneck Station, took an endless amount of reloaded saves for it to finally spawn alive but worth the effort for a really good looking and brave horse👌

You can get it as early as chapter 2, so 1st make sure you haven’t ‘interacted’ or triggered the crashed wagon with the drunk guy asking you to watch it for him and go to the trapper near Riggs station and save your game coz more than likely it’s gonna take you a few reloads to get this horse, ride down to the train tracks leave your horse off it incase a train is coming, use wither a bow with small game arrows or a varmint rifle to shoot and wound not kill an npc riding the path beneath the tracks and wait for him to start shooting at you, keep your weapon aimed at the cliff straight north of you where the encounter spawns and eventually it will spawn with a live Ardennes so when it does drink a health tonic or miracle tonic and run to where you can jump off you will survive the fall because of the tonic but very important is keep the camera facing the horse so it doesn’t despawn run over to it and get on then ice the guy who was shooting at you incase he kills you or the horse and rode to the stables outside strawberry saddle up and you’re good👍

My favorite first go to horse is the Brindle Thoroughbred in chapter 2. I save my game outside of Twin Stack Pass and kill the Odriscols for it. If I don't get it the first time I reload my game until I get it.
The wraped Arabian was the first horse I went to get in my first gameplay and it was the horse I used on the last mission 💀😭 heartbreaking bruh

War Horse my all time favorite horse. Doesn’t buck me off in scary situations holds firm, big as fuck, & will run like hell.
I love the mft due to the unique coat and its speed, it dosent buck you very easily like arabians

I actually love the Raven Black Shire, that horse is huge and intimidating. I tried to braid his tail and mohawk for the mane, it looks badass. My first game, I actually sold it. haha epic fail.

•use a wagon to ride into the stables
•shoot around until NPCs react and shut the barn door on you
•feed and pat the horse until it will follow as a secondary horse
•run outta there and call your new horse
I only use the black Arabian. Best horse for me
