    Oh.. finally ... this is perhaps one of the most beautiful songs ever composed by anyone in the Floyd camp. David and Rick will forever be the soul of PF

    • @elausente21
      @elausente21 Год назад +7

      Written for his then wife, suffering a severe clinical depression. Rick's contributions are largely underappreciated. There is a real reason why David deemed the existence of Pink Floyd impossible without Rick, he's 100% right.

    Thanks guys, wonderful reaction as always. You're right, when the world seems too ugly, music is a refuge - especially the music of these guys. I'm glad you enjoyed it, I'm sure you will feel the same if you watch the whole concert. David brings such incredible musicianship to his shows - he surrounds himself with excellent musicians, crafts amazing arrangements and includes space for all the other members of the band to shine. I think it must be quite a feather in a musician's cap to play with Gilmour. Rick - his keyboard compositions were always the soul of Pink Floyd. I'm so glad he joined David on his post-PF performances so we have gems like this to visit any time we like.

    Richard Wright was the heart and glue of PF , Hence why there was no chance of doing anymore when he passed , 100% my favourite member then David of course .

    This song is from a hugely underrated album from Rick. His wife Mildred had been suffering from severe depression, and Rick wrote this album about her battles with her mental health issues. This song, Breathrough was actually sung by Sinead O'Connor on the album.
    I think you both would enjoy the entire concert that this track was taken from. David covers Bizet, Richard Thompson, Syd Barrett and others so beautifully. It's one of my favorite recorded concerts of his.

    I'm always extremely impressed when Dick Parry plays the saxophone. I don't know what it is, but it's true.
    It's perhaps a little unfair when Rick Wright's work and contribution to Pink Floyd is so under-appreciated. Yes - David Gilmour became the band's frontman after Syd Barrett left, and Roger Waters later tried to replace his role as lead singer, but Rick was always a very good singer, but more importantly a great songwriter and an excellent keyboard player. Among other things, he is the main co-writer of such hits as On the Run, The Great Gig In The Sky, Us And Them, Any Colour Your Like and many more... Since Wright's death, Gilmour has never played Echoes again. He always said it was mainly Wright's work and he wouldn't sing it with anyone else...

    David Gilmour & Rchard Wright were more than friends , they were like brothers, and once Richard Wright passed away Pink Floyd lose an essential partner.

    This concert by David Gilmour was one where he tried to do things a bit different. It was mostly an acoustic affair and he played some songs that aren't Pink Floyd or solo-material. And when he did play Pink Floyd songs he had them re-arranged to suit this band. Look up High Hopes (Choral Version) where he takes the closing vocal section of that song and let the backing vocalists shine for a moment.

    I believe the word you’re looking for, Domenika, is sublime. It’s the vehicle that takes you to the refuge you were talking about. It helps you get to your happy place when simply thinking yourself there doesn’t do the trick. Anything by these two guys will do that for you.

    Dave & Rick shows how P.F. sound came from and everything these 2 guys did together. Both laid back and reserved. FYI; Sax player Dick Perry was a session musician which was DSOTM Wish You Were Here" almost all of Dave's works. "1994 Pulse" Dave call Dick up and ask if he wanted to travel the world with him> Dick said yes as he just retired from shoeing horses. Dave also found and got Kate Bush her start. Video "Love & Anger" will have a surprise guitar player in it .

    From the last solo album from Rick (1996 - Broken China), wonderful sad music. I recommend you his album to listen ou your own, this a particular touching, sad and beautiful album. You'll hear the arrangements are more rock, but Sinnead O'Connor sung two songs on the album (RIP to her) and this particular one, she sung the choir part. manu Katché (Peter Gabriel, Sting, Michel Jonasz) played the drums, Tim Renwick (guitarist on lasts tours with Pink Floyd) and Dominic Miller (Sting's guitarist for years) played all the guitar parts. This album is almost a hidden Pink Floyd album, the sound is really close, only missing David's guitar and Nick drums, but it's really worth the listen, believe me, you recent Pink Floyd and David's fans ;-) You'll cry.
