You may try contract jobs as a layout design engineer.. like a consultancy. Learn digital circuit physical design courses.. synthesis and Apr flow with synopsis or cadence tools.. which is what mtech students learn. You will definitely get a job.

It's per annum which converts to 25-30k per month on average. As a fresh college graduate with zero experience you can't get a salary package of 2-3 lakhs per month. But yes once you accumulate enough industry experience and exposure then it's a different story altogether. It depends upon which company have you joined and from which college or institution you are from. It may range from 6L for a fresher in service based company. And a product based company may pay you around 18 CTC including all.

My brother did Bteach mechanical engineering in VIT back in I guess 2008. Even then they had really amazing placements, at par with IIT’s And very fortunately the French givt held an exam for m tech programs in France on scholarship. My brother woke up one day, his room mate said I am going to give this exam. You also come. They both went in boxers. Gave the exam. And somehow my brother cleared the interview, and he studied m tech in a govt aided institution in France. Free free free. The same university offered him a PHD program, again free and paid stipend based on his m tech dissertation. And now he is a doctorate on nuclear reactor/aviation design. USA was more than happy to take him on highest position. He is green card is in a super sonic mode. Accelerated more than any Indian that lived for 15-20 years. 5 more years and he is a citizen. In short placements is a very very crucial aspect of a college. Not just rankings
