  • Marco Polo Club Flyer - Relishing the Air Travel Experience.
    This is Ken and thank you for watching my Flight Review.
    / cxka_ken
    Welcome to my first flight review relishing the air travel experience with a US-based carrier. To an Asian like me, what US airlines are famous for is how bad they are. Opps, sorry, and therefore, I felt compelled to try as many US airlines as I can in the upcoming few months. Stay tuned to my future videos featuring Delta, United, JetBlue, and more. And for today, I am delighted to share with you my recent experience with American Airlines.
    In today’s flight review, we would be savoring the 7-hour transatlantic air travel experience onboard American Airlines Boeing 777-300ER from London to New York JFK in Flagship First Class.
    Hope that my video has fulfilled your “taste buds”, and if it did, I would be happy if you could follow me on my Instagram - cxka_ken for traveling shots. Also, make sure you have left me a like and commented on this video. Share this video with your loved ones and it means a lot to me if you subscribe to my channel.

    Thank you for relishing the air travel experience with me today, may I invite you to join me in savoring our next journey?
    Cheers,
    Ken

    The AA first class product is a 20 year old design. I flew in very similar seats multiple times on AA 777s in the early 2000s. Not much has changed. I did like the rotating seat, though.

      Oh wow, Ron, thanks for watching... Didn't know that this seat is 20yo... The rotating feature is just really cute, and I'm looking forward to seeing the AA Flagship Suites product!

    I find American lacks polish in a number of areas, across all cabins. The cabin crew always seem scruffy, and this is reflected in their approach to service delivery. Enjoyed the video!

      Thanks Colin. I agree! After flying with American, Delta and United over the past few months in the US, I found that it really depends upon your luck. Sometimes you get friendly crew, and the flight experience would then be fantastic... but most of the time, haha... Thanks for watching and glad that you enjoyed it!

    Thank you for the report. Interesting to see how AA are doing - a bit of a mixed bag by the look of it, typified by the hit & miss food. Out of interest did you ask for the steak to be well done or did it just arrive like that?
    Service seemed friendly if a little lacking in etiquette.
    The seat is where AA lets themselves down.
    Unfortunately it doesn't appear as though they're narrowing the gap with Middle Eastern and Far Eastern carriers

    • @MarcoPoloClubFlyer
      @MarcoPoloClubFlyer  Год назад +2

      Thanks James. No, they didn't ask me how I wanted my steak. But it actually tasted better than it looked. While I would say the service was overall fine, the entire experience just barely reached the Business Class standard on Asian or Middle Eastern carriers.

    Thanks for a truly excellent review! My favorite part of AA Flagship First is the Flagship First dining available at 4 US airports; I’ve got a flight booked in a week from Dallas to London to get a last look at the product. Otherwise, I’d take BA F (the best “business class” transatlantic product - it is priced about the same as other carrier business, and compares well). None compares to the best Asian or Middle Eastern carrier premium cabins, though, although Air France is decent.

    I flew BA first class from LHR to ORD on the A-380. I didn't think that there was much of a difference between First Class and Business Class. I did enjoy using the First Class Concorde Lounge at LHR however, but the on-board service wasn't that much better than that of Business Class. It looks like the same thing that you encountered on your AA flight. I am not sure that the difference in price between Business and First is worthwhile on AA (it wasn't on BA). I would like to one day try First Class on a European, Middle Eastern, or Asian airline. Thanks for the video.

    U.S. carriers can never out beat the Asian international airlines; Korean, JAL, ANA, Singapore, Cathay… their service and food are superior.

    • @MarcoPoloClubFlyer
      @MarcoPoloClubFlyer  Год назад +2

      Haha, that's true. But to be fair, they are not looking to compete with Asian airlines anyways... That's why they never improve :( Thanks for watching Kelli!

      correct and in your list it goes Oneworld CX =JL Skytrax 5 star > AA followed by ANA = Singapore = OZ = BR Skytrax 5 Star Star Alliance > UA lastly Skyteam Alliance KE 5 star Skytrax > DL. With in Asia Pacific region the mentioned airlines also beats the oldest in the region PR from ICN, NRT/HND, SIN, & HKG to MNL. From the list, KE does compete with PR on ICN-CEB with my brothers friend always going KE JFK to CEB via ICN

    If you go to the business class section the seat are the same as a Cathay Pacific A350-900 A350-1000 777-300/er. If you have the opportunity to do HKG-MNL try Philippine Airlines the oldest airline in Asia 1941 founded. However you lose the power plugs which Cathay Pacific offers on all classes of travel between HKG and MNL if you chose PR on HKG-MNL. Power plugs only Mabuhay Class passengers get them While fiesta classes loses the plug on HKG-MNL on PR. Excellent trip, Ken. AA Oneworld partners JL🇯🇵 CX🇭🇰 QF🇦🇺 BA🇬🇧 AY Finland offer better services in First Class.

    Definitely think that serving First Class meals on a tray is highly declasse and indicative of a Business Class product; not First Class at all. Perhaps this is why they are discontinuing this product.

    I am looking forward to experiencing LHR to SYD in AA First in 2024... but must say this very much looks like a standard Business Class on any decent airline - which is of course not a bad thing. However - First should be able to distinguish itself from Business, right? I've been lucky to be able to utilise points (not wealthy enough to pay cash) and fly Business to Europe (from Sydney) my last 5-6 flights, with Qantas, Emirates, Cathay and Virgin Atlantic (from HK and Mumbai with Virgin). All these Business class products seem to be as good as AA First, with the exception of Virgin Atlantic seat in their 'herringbone' 3 across configuration - which is not up to today's standards (but obviously still thousand times better than economy!). However - other than the seat - all other aspects of Virgin product seem on par if not better than this AA First... First world problems, very 'snobby', but... Charles de Cazanove Champagne, in the first class...Seriously?? Embarrassing. Must admit - I noticed a drop in the quality of the offering (food and Champagne) after Covid, cost cutting I guess... but this is just not good enough for the First Class, not even for Business, actually. How about some Henriot, Charles Heidsieck or even good old Bollinger (vintage of course)? Something that's more than $50 USD per bottle in a shop...
    Yes, I know I am being a snob - but we are talking about FLAGSHIP First Class... sorry... well, not really.

    This meal looks awful, especially the "steak" entree that every first class flight reviewer orders. Implying that the ice cream sundae makes up for a horrible meal presentation probably would not placate the few who paid thousands for this flight. Other than the meal, nice review.
