    Im a flight attendant and if the instructions from the catering company have u serve the meal with a tray then thats how u serve the meal. The second meal on a trans atlantic flight is usually a simpler meal. But the flight attendant was not lazy this is how the meal comes and with instructions on how to serve it. It would nice if you took that statement out. She was a very attentive FA. Catering has instructions and we follow them.

      @@Whenitraveltheworld I'm not a great fan of Etihad first re quality of food,and the chef concept. Admittedly it was their first flight A380 from AUH to MEL a few years back

    I’m amazed that she just dropped the silverware on the tray for each course. Should have been laid and placed nicely! This is one of the reasons I only fly International airlines.

      Thanks. Well i would say the crew are just older really, nothing that can be done about that.
      I always find AA/UA crews to be a lot older than most airlines.

    8:24 fark, bit of a difference between aa and sing hosties. aa seem jaded and past their prime. note the plonking down of items onto the table, sing they are careful to place items quietly. 8:48 sing pour in front of you and dont plonk the glass back down like that. this is not good enough on a first class flight from london to dallas, a 3700 gbp flight (4500 usd / 6500 aud). aa are certainly behind the pack with this first class product offering. when you look at emirates, etihad, sing etc, just their business class is far superior to this. aa need to pick up their game.

      I certainly agree with you there that the service standards are certainly lacking compared to other airlines. The plonking down of the items was certainly noticed by myself compared to careful placement by other airline crews.

    As a courtesy did you ask your neighbor if he minded being in your video? I think the flight attendants did a nice job. They seemed friendly and attentive.

      Stephan Raatz, I think its Great that American Airlines or Average Airline Employs the some what older Generation to work for them in there Twilight Years, the only thing missing was the Zimmer Frame the Female flight attendant was obviously using!!! As for the Serial Killing looking passenger sitting across from him im glad i wasn't sitting there!!!

    I was somewhat disappointed with the service you received on this flight, it seemed very uncaring and cold, although having said that, the flight attendant that made up your bed seemed quite nice. Thanks for sharing.

    AA needs to re-vamp their first class product. They should watch F/C reviews of Qatar, Emirates and Etihad airlines (and a few Asian carriers) for some pointers. Something about how the F/A handled your meal and cutlery - can't put my finger on it. Great Review. Initially, your food looked ok and was presented well. The breakfast, I think that's what that was, not so much.

      Agree. Whack and there you go. No finesse. Even says 'here you go james' if not mistaken. Well. Would never happen on Etihad or Qatar.

      Agreed, and employees are very old (it is time to allow new people to take care of the business) they do not care about their look and they could be OK, but never will give you a fantastic service.

    always enjoy the detail and clarity in your videos. due to the events in hkg, I was able to purchase a first class one-way ticket from hkg-west coast next month, for 2,000 us dollars, on the aa 777-300er. space is the key for me; not expecting much of anything else, as i have flown this plane in first, before , and it is hit or miss each time with most things on board. safe travels to you

    From an American's point of view, I thought this video and the service was just fine! Delightful, in fact.... Secondly... the light meal comes probably on a tray because it is served later in the flight closer to landing. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I thought it was nice.

    Thanks for the video.....I would never fly FC on American Internationally after seeing this...the food alone was a minus 20..there was no finesse from the flight attendants in serving the food and drink....it was horrible...so thanks for sharing your experience!

    As a former Pan Am FA, I wasn't too impressed with the service. I think you could have done better on BA, AF or LU. The American carries are all about getting you there and not the experience. Hope you didn't have to pay for this.

      as a former T.W.A. FA out of Berlin I am telling that is the utmost of inflight Service available TODAY of any U.S. carrier. And you know how good PA or TWA had been... AA has still a FIRST CLASS CABIN on certain routes. The only ones that remain ...for how Long????

    I don’t understand why so many people are complaining about the FA. Yeah she maybe rough around edges but she is friendly. That’s what you expect with American hospitality. You really can’t compare them with Asian carrier. But at least she was better than the Asian FA I have on a recent trans Pacific flight on AA J. Her long hair was all over her face when she was serving meal; that’s just gross.
    I have to say AA F and J product are not that much different. Apart from the extra pillow, bigger seats and the restaurant service for the first meal, everything is very similar to J class. If I have to pay for trans Pacific J, I would definitely choose AA over CX. I mean the seats are almost identical, and AA has better beddings and PJs. I don’t really care about the food as I would eat at the lounge prior and whether the FA address me by name doesn’t really bother me. But it’s at least 1/3 cheaper on AA than CX for the same route.

      Yes the AA F service is not much better than the AA J service, so its almost pointless in them keeping it around anymore.

    I agree, those seats are far too open to provide ANY privacy, especially when you are sleeping. The decor is dull, the food looks quite mediocre for First Class, and the service does not radiate genuine hospitality ("there you go"). I would not fly American Airlines First Class, because there are far better products in the market.

      I agree with you there, the market certainly has much better first class products on certain trans-atlantic routes.
      I wonder how long AA will even keep first around for, probably not much longer.

      Agree. For some reason this Christian guy feels the flight attendants have to many Passengers so its ok to give them a break. They know in advance how man passengers to expect and they should deliver great service and that is what they are paying for.

      @Jefferson Mason, it is all about getting the VALUE for your money, which is no different from doing comparative shopping for a car or a television set -- benefit versus cost, simple economics. I am sure that you are smart enough to understand this concept. So, it is not up to you to make this kind of offensive judgment! In fact, chartering a private jet may be a good alternative, depending on the distance traveled and the number of people traveling together; it may even be cheaper than commercial first class. You know why you never run into A-list celebrities on commercial flights? That is because they all fly private.

      Certainly, I would never actually pay for AA F, just a waste of money, I have lots of AA miles so this was an easy spend to try it, though I won't be spending them again in F.

      @Jefferson Mason : When you pay over $10,000 for any airline ticket, you should damn well expect the FAs to not only chew your food, but provide a full body massage and wipe your arse. When peasants in cattle class pay anything approaching this price point, then they too should expect to be waited on hand and foot. Until then, elevate your standards. If you are content to go cheap and be treated like crap - good for you. Doesn't mean the rest of us should consider putting up with that crap.

    They've got to solve that lack of privacy thing in FC. The last thing you want as an airline is for people to think your BC product is better than your FC product, especially if the food in FC is ordinary. With only 8 max FC passengers there's no reason in the world why they can't be suites.

      Yeah trust me the S-Video input made me laugh. I think I have even seen composite on some planes.
      It could be a better experience, but it was still nice enough, though certainly not up the standards people would expect for 1st class.

    The problems with the US air stewardess are that they are old and tired and don't like doing what they do. Their mannerism is usually awful. They simply just throwing food and catteries at you. Don't smile/like to. They don't want to quit bcos there's no other job they qualify for. Just tragic!

      While the meal was fairly tasty, Its more the fact it was just presented the same as how its presented in business class.
      Its also a business class meal. I think it could be presented better.

    Okay...is it just me being picky or was that flight stewardess awful. Her professionalism was void with regards to service. First class accommodations is to be seen and not remembered. She was abrupt when bringing your food, table settings, even her voice was loud. It was like being served dinner at “Denny’s.” I certainly hope your flight experience was relayed back to American Airlines.

    Hit the thumbs up and leaving my comments per request. 😃 Lavalier Mike sounded and worked great. Would actually like to hear you record more of your personal thoughts and opinions on audio during the flights and include them in the video. I think it would make the videos more personal and inviting - IMHO. Brutally honest opinion on AA First Class - I would not spend $$$$ for this ticket / experience. There are other carriers that provide better value and a higher level of First Class service for my money. Enjoyed watching the video. Cheers. 🥂

      Agreed! This is the main reason that I avoid US flagged carriers. They just don't provide the warm, professional service like one finds on Asian carriers. The service on this flight made me feel like I was at Denny's!

    AI Should learn from JAL on how to setup the table in first class. JAL crew setup the table in an extremely professional way and fast. The way she took the cutlery was a bit awkward while serving you salad

    Good video! Love the full takeoff roll; too many trip reporters skip it or fast forward through it. I like to time how long it takes different aircraft to get airborne.
    As others have said, FA service was ok but not great and food appeared to be very ordinary and not worthy of a long haul, first class expensive product. Our experience on AA's 777-200 Raleigh-Durham to Heathrow has been same re food but our flight attendants have been excellent--friendly, informative, proactive.

    Im sorry to say but this airline for isn't the best i had travelled with about 7 years ago .and i said never again they were rude and very un friendly .mabe now they changed who knows.and there delay was terrible. Ha never again

    Personally I like American Airlines and always fly First/Business Class. I don’t understand why people hate AA so much? It seemed like an enjoyable flight and I like the Casper bedding. I never have good luck with United and Delta is way more expensive, sometimes triple the price. I am now looking forward to this route next August. Anyway thanks for another great video.

      I mean, not everyone can hate them right. You are right on the Casper bedding tht was comfortable and a lot better than UA or DL's bedding, but then that's just business class. So not sure if I can compare it correctly.

    The level of service didn't feel first class at all. These FA's look so rushed and looks like they're having "Another Whatever Day" in the Sky. No personal touch at all that they didn't even try to create a memorable first class experience. I'd be so disappointed if I paid $$$$ for a mediocre service. Just Saying.

    That's a great crew, flying alot through the years, I've come to enjoy American alot more. Many people don't want to be babied with false hoods of quality, just good service.

    I really miss dressing up to travel and I'm amazed that people will wear jeans in First Class. A litle bit of class is it too much to ask?

      I have to disagree with you Gerry. I think jeans are just fine for travel. I often see people in first wearing shorts, no socks, tank tops, whatever they want. I dress casual, but not that casual. I think dressing to impress is a bit outdated for a flight, when you travel a lot, dressing up all the time for a flight is very uncomfortable. If you travel twice a year then I certainly understand wanting to dress up for a special trip, but in 2018 I took almost 300 flights.

    Superb premium international product, from what you've shown! I'm trying to remember if I've ever been on this route on an AA 777 and yes in fact, I have. I've been on the opposite direction DFW-LHR...in economy. No wonder I almost forgot about it LOL!

    I see the FA is splitting opinion here.
    To me leaving the bottle of bubbly is far better than getting the knives and forks aligned with true north and getting down on knees to take the order like some 19th Century servant.
    This seems to be the sort of flight that is better than expected but then you still compare to other airlines. Tricky one. Note that Lufthansa and AIr France 1st is also fairly open and those are fantastic first class experiences. I don't travel 1st class much compared to business / economy but prefer the open style more than closed. What's wrong with chatting to fellow travelers on a long trip, often informative and always the odd joke.

      Yeah the FA really splits the views, its pretty interesting to read.
      Its not hat she left the Champagne with me, I sort of asked a few times and eventually she noticed I was the only one drinking it, now that could have been because she would not have to keep coming back and serving me.
      I don't mind chatting with fellow travelers on my trips. Always makes it go quicker.

    Dinner was rather beautifully plated and appetizing until that god-awful chicken entrée made an appearance. I would have requested the Tuscan beef stew, literally anything else, rather than that chicken. The FA looked to be amazing. Thanks for sharing your trip with us all. Continued safe journeys to you.

    I’m surprised no one gave you company till your seat as it was a First Class tkt while all top airline crew do that. That makes you feel special. And the way the lady was placing cutlery on table, little hard n rough around the edges, while when you see crew of CX, EK, ANA, SIA etc, you feel like you’re in a 7 star restaurant. Huge difference. I wonder if someday American Airlines (all) will achieve that in service quality

    I agree with Carel. I just hate the way American FAs in First and Business call passengers by their first names, or "sweetie" or "honey". It is very "casual" and at those prices, a little formality would be more appropriate! I avoid the U.S. carriers when flying to Europe every year. Aer Lingus Business Class, for example, is miles ahead of anything American, Delta or United offer and at half the price.

      I agree it can be a little informal to call someone "sweetie" when flying with an airline.
      I don't really like it when they call me Mr Long Either, I just prefer my first name to be used.
      But you are right, Aer Lingus has a pretty good product over the water and they are nice to fly.

    Great video. The pre departure champagne and turndown service look wonderful. When did you fly because I flew AA business class to China last week and there are new amenity kits. No more Cole Haan.

    The video was professional in its scope, but the US airlines need to up their game. I love the First Class of Qatar, Eithiad and Emirates. It’s like staying in an upscale hotel. Come on USA, we can do better !!!!

    Not far through the video but just had to say the attendant serving your food sounds and looks like she couldn’t care less!! What a difference from Singapore! And hate the lack of privacy - that’s crazy for 1st....ok back to watch the rest!!

    Frankly, even if the crew is great, the meals don't look first class, just business. I found weird to bring the glass filled with wine from the galley, they should pour the wine from the bottle front of the client. A long time ago, almost thirty years ago, they bumped me from first class to economy because I was wearing a pair of short trousers. Since that time, I never flew again AA

    The great thing about any US airline is that we dont expect much so we get positively surprised no matter what! I remember this family from somewhere up north is the USA that i met on a Lufthansa flight from Bangkok, economy class, and we both had come aboard this flight from a connecting flight from Manila so we were already on a nod. This flight to Frankfurt was completely full, so many families with kids and all the extra accessories that goes with kids, i have never seen a bigger mess on any flight ever and the air was barely breathable as i disembarked in Frankfurt. But did the Americans disembark? Nope, United Airlines had, in their usual strive for passenger satisfaction, code-shared this flight with Lufthansa for as a direct flight with one stop from Bangkok to New York, and to provide "better" service the American passengers werent allowed to leave the aircraft while refuelling (Coz then it wouldnt be direct flight with one stop but two flights). I was like to the American guy "What, you have 8-9 hours more in this dirty mess??" and he was like "yeah and then almost 3 hours connecting flight from New York to get home". It was like nothing to him, he was American and so used to terrible flights that it didnt bother him. The old stereotype of Soviet citizens not complaining because theyre used to horrible service isnt true, its Americans who are used to poor service, the people of USSR never did anything where service would be expected.

    Not first class! The crew member did not show you to your seat, no privacy, ‘roast chicken dinner’ not seen on any other first class menu. The crew member needs to learn more English. How often did she say ‘there you are’? Very casual service , not for me.

    American Airlines has always been pretty decent in all classes. WAY better than British Airways on their old 747 to Dallas/ Fort Worth

      Very true, I have no issue with that, I also love burrito's.
      But if you compare this food to watch other airlines service in first class, its a bit of a joke when people are paying a lot of money for it.

    Seems like the asian and mid east carrier flight attendents serve meals so much better. Meaning its like at a 5 star restaurant they are so perfect in the way they set the table and lay your plate on your table. Your FA on this flight might as well have just thrown the food at you

    In my opinion, AA has a really good hard product for Flagship First and Business - but as others have said, its the service that needs refinement, especially for the price point.

      if this was an international airline it would be 30 year old person from the Philippines or South Africa with extensive customer service training in this category.
      nothing derogatory towards her she gets the assignment hence seniority.
