    Twitch is now starting a beta with higher resolutions (and better codecs) so the timing for this device Being only 1080p is maybe a bit unfortunate.
    That said, I think for streaming 1080p is more than enough for most streams. Certainly for console or webcam/camera input it will be enough for quite some time in my opinion.

    • @DarkCornerStudios
      @DarkCornerStudios  7 месяцев назад +3

      True they are...but still depends on most people being able to push that with a decent bitrate...lol
      A lot of crappy 4k streams are incoming...

    • @Anco
      @Anco 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@DarkCornerStudios Certainly true, had to look it up again if they also were testing higher resolutions, because for me the only thing I'm hyped about is the AV1 and HEVC codecs that they are testing.
      Even now I'm sometimes still wondering why people are streaming 1080p with very low bitrates.
      But one downside I remembered after my previous comment is that you (if I remember correctly) said you filmed 4k so that you could crop in and use closeups.
      In that way a 4k capture would possible give some more options for framing in livestreams/editing

    I would buy four if it had NDI. Wish Mackie would put NDI in all there devices. That is the way to create an ecosystem within the brand.
    And my cameras record in 4k on ssd, their HDMI is only 1080p capable so that bothers me less
    Does it work on usb 4 ports?

      These 2 devices are what I was looking at -- I went with Mackie for portability and price ($200 difference, I think). For education, I only need 1 XLR. I can use a USB mic or 3.5 for wireless capture.
      Good stuff, I like these reviews!

    Mainstream can use 3.5mm microphone?

    • @markhaubphd
      @markhaubphd 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, it plugs in above the XLR input. Have not tried it yet (just received it today), might need to be a TRRS vs TRS connection.

    • @markhaubphd
      @markhaubphd 6 месяцев назад +1

      I did use it with wireless mic (Comica, 3.5mm) -- sounded fine. I held it and was using ptz camera, so it was not as close as wearing it. It did work.
      So, there are several audio input options (usb, 3.5, or XLR).

      @@DerSchwanzinderBrandung It's nice and compact. Virtually everything included. But, we all want more these days. This comes very close for a fraction of the cost for this tech even five years ago. Sadly, with all this commercial stuff, there's always a limit to what can be thrown in for a reasonable price. I have to use my external vocal FX unit, but included is the send and return that can be cut via the footswitch. I didn't get the Mackie footswitch as the draw is full of them from buying this sort of junk over the years.

    • @markhaubphd
      @markhaubphd 7 месяцев назад

      DLZ-XS is audio only. Few options on the market for 2 video feeds (USB + HDMI), and XLR + USB -- and mobile device (audio) -- with only one USB-C port needed. The portability is amazing on the MainStream, which is important for me. Also, when portable/mobile, the 1080p is fine. For $300, you get a LOT. It is $100 LESS than Rode X, with more video/audio options, right?
      If 4k is an issue, I am not sure what setup would be available for this price. Roland has the Bridge Caster X (Bridge Cast + HDMI), that is $499, I think.
