    As a live sound guy, I purchased the Mackie because of how familiar it felt in terms of its interface, as well the built in E.Q,compressor and De-esser. I love that thing and am gonna keep it for a long time before I consider switching

    This board looks aweomse! can this seperate audio: Mic, game sounds, discord and let's say music like GOXLR? What I mean is could one use this board with OBS to record these all tracks seperatly? I have goxlr and I have a strong desire to switch to something like Rodecaster duo or this new board from Mackie. If this Mackie DLZ creator xs can record seperate audio, would you be so kind doing tutorial on how this should be setup? I would highly appreciate if you could answer my question and if possible make such video turorial. Thank you in advance a fan prom Poland

    Great overview of DLZ XS, looking forward to the comparison with the Rodecaster Duo. Contemplating replacing my Yamaha AG06 and DBX 286S with one of these units to save space. Being Australian I’m a bit biased towards the Rode. 👍🇦🇺

    Excellent.
    These units (and, as with all Mackie, and Rode stuff) are fantastic. The all made in house brands have a very real appeal for me. While I'm not in the market for this stuff, yet? I can't wait to see what's coming and going on offer after these beasts. The benchmark has been set and the bang for your buck has hit the mark. Yet I still hear complaints that these things are overpriced. The only answer to that is - take a look 10 years, or further back and look how much the analog world used to cost. There was no budget for that. This new stuff is insane.

    Hey man! Currently deciding between the Mackie and the Rodecaster Duo. Which do you think has the better DSP? I know the original Rodecaster Pro wasn't too great, especially the Noise Gate but they seemed to have really improved upon it, how do you think the Mackie's DSP compares to it?

    Have you ever tried connecting an outboard, audio channel strip like a Neve Newton? I'm assuming we could use the line-level input to bypass the Mackie pre-amps. If that'st not possible, do you think input 3/4 (L/M) could work as an input from the channel strip?

  • @michalkotnowski

    One question regarding Mackie - can one actually control different input levels for USB incoming sound from different sources or this is just one level for the USB input?

    Did you notice any latency from your XLR mic to your headphone monitors? With the Rodecaster Duo, the latency was disorienting.

    Honestly, the DLZ XS seems perfect for me. I don't need all the inputs of my DLZ, it's huge, space is at a premium and I love the features of it. The XS just seems like a no-brainer for me. Might sell the DLZ and replace it with the XS in the coming months.

Considering running audio to Zoom calls via the DLZ XS (not ordered it yet). Noticed another commenter having a similar query. Any reason why the DLZ XZ wouldn’t show up as an audio source in video call apps?

      Great question!
      If you are on PC I would confirm that you have the up to date drivers installed.
      Once that is confirmed, sometimes you have to allow permissions...especially with Chrome.
      You can access those permissions through settings.
      Sometimes they reset when you change out hardware...
      Also...try another browser like firefox...

    I have to say, I'm tempted by this. I currently have a Rodecaster Pro 2, but the amount of issues via their firmware updates is making me consider switching away from them. It's that bad, the recent 1.3.4 firmware update completely bricked my RCP2, and many others, going by Reddit, and other online communities. Thankfully it's under warranty, so it's being repaired/replaced, but because I'm in Canada, my closest service centre is in another province altogether, so it looks like I'll be without for at least 2-3 weeks. Not great.
    My only concern is, with RODE now owning Mackie, will these quality issues now come on to Mackie's hardware...

    • @DarkCornerStudios
      @DarkCornerStudios  9 месяцев назад

      Honestly I hadn't heard of bricking...though I stay away from Reddit because of this...it doesn't give you the best ratio of units...cause no one goes there to praise it...lol.

    Quoestion: is that Mackie 3.5mm jack TRS or TRRS, so when I plug in a smartphone, can use my studio mic on the phone like in the original Rodecaster pro? Same with the RCP duo, can't find anywhere the info but as you got em both, mayhaps you can answer that question. A couple of cons you failed to mention:
    1) Can't transfer files via USB. Have to take the micro SD card out every time.
    2) Requires minimum 10 seconds to write files. Otherwise you end up with corrupt files that are unrecoverable.
    3) Date/Time cannot be updated manually and does not update automatically even if connected via USB. All files will have same date/time.
    4) Does not record individual tracks to separate files. Lumps them all into one Poly WAV file which is VERY cumbersome upon import into Video Editor of choose.
    This video feels a bit like sponsored content because you failed to cover these issues. If you didn't know about them, then perhaps you have not spent enough time with the device?

    • @DarkCornerStudios
      @DarkCornerStudios  9 месяцев назад +1

      I do not cover features like SD cards when it comes to units like this.
      This is for a few reasons, but it mostly boils down to one thing. I do not have a testing methodology as I do not use the feature in my day to day.
      So holding myself up as an "expert" on that is disingenuous at best...and since I have no workflow, there is no way to expect that any methodology I do come up with would be thorough enough to actually represent the product.
      I review these products as studio gear...and my run and gun gear is generally very much separate...and I do not consider these to be under that umbrella...especially since it requires a power supply to work
      This is a commonality in my videos when dealing with ALL of the similar boards in this class that have an SD slot.
      Aside from pointing it out...that is the extent that I actually cover it.
      Calling this sponsored content is a bit annoying.
      Even if I miss stuff, which happens from time to time...with all of us...I am happy to follow up with add on content that covers the issue.
      Why not just ask instead of throwing around insults?

    • @RandumbTech
      @RandumbTech 8 месяцев назад

      @@DarkCornerStudios Didn't mean to offend or insult. Now realizing that you don't record to the unit itself, it's unfair criticism on my part seeing as you don't have any direct experience with any of those issues. Perhaps you can mention them in your next Mackie DLZ vs. DUO comparison video. Keep rockin' man!

    I am trying to figure out if this will be the right unit for my needs.
    Can you assign any (or all) of the channels to be USB Audio Inputs (from a PC) and then in the PC, set different apps to different channels?
    On my PC I want to have multiple channels to output to and then I want to be able to use the Audio Mixer and set specific applications to specific channels....
    For Example... I can set all Default Windows Sounds to Channel 1 and then Control that on Channel 1 on the DLZ Mixer. Then Set Channel 2 on my Windows Mixer to use my Browser Audio Output, so sound from Chrome I control via Channel 2 on the DLZ Mixe... then Channel 3.. assign that to my VLC Player or media player where I watch movies...
    When you hook the mixer up via USB does it only create one device total or are there multiple devices with a possibility of one device or output per channel?

    Not enough real inputs and the bigger unit is physically too big. There seems to be a hole in the market no one produces more than 4 inputs on a digital mixer and has a screen or at least an app. It's like behringer it has the rather old flow 8 which needs a major update it's very frustrating I'm not that worried about all the podcast options but the podcasting mixers are the only thing in the gap sort of. I want a screen or at least a mobile app and at least 6 audio inputs to the daw. That are real ones not a phone only or stuck on pads only or Bluetooth .. rant over
