I've tried both and settled on the Mackie DLZ Creator XS. The Rode Duo's headphone monitor latency was too disoritening for me. The Mackie DLX Creator XS doesn't have any noticable headphone monitor latency. Ditto on the screensize...love it on the DLZ Creator XS.
Excellent. If either one of these units had the extra usb, as in the Mackie mainstream, To go to my gopro 8, or action 3 camera, They may have been sitting on my desk. The next upgrade from both Rode or Mackie may see one of their units in use with me. Not 100% from both companies, apart from the cost, but damn close for the money.
I have a Duo. The combination of dual pc over usb and no drivers needed slimmed down the choices a lot. It's wonderful, but I still have a huge list of things I'd wish the Duo could do. That said, I do have considerable screen envy vs the Creator XS. I think the screen size is worth it over the faders, but the Creator XS is weighed down by the heritage from the big brother and its faders. If you use knobs, you might as well use rotary encoders like the ones on the side of the screen. That would let you have "pages" for channels, instead of physical vs virtual faders on the Duo.
The VESA mount on the back of the Duo was the decision maker for me I had a tablet arm laying around and reconfigured it for VESA mounting.. This is my first audio interface/mixer. and I saved $25 by buying a scuffed up box from Best Buy..(The Unit was pristine inside).. Love to see a video on how to set up and use Unify with the Duo.. Thanks for the comparison video..
Not a User of the XS - I use my DLZ Creator as my Interface and for Podcast. And i know the Roadcaster very well. For me my Decision was 2fold - beeing an Audio Geek who uses Mackie mixers (analog and digital) since Years and THAT Screeen! I love it, what Mackie does with this Product. Lets see, what the future brings, since Rode and Mackie are now one Coop - it only can get Better (i hope)
I have the DLZ original at home. I use the RCP2 for work. They are both outstanding in their own way. The form factor on the XS and DUO is just amazing. I can't see how you could go wrong with either one. I lean toward the DLZ, I wish I had them all at home! :)
Here is my used case question. I want to use Ableton Live, my VST‘s as well as use Ableton to record audio apps on my iPad via USB-C into my audio interface. Which one of these would be best for that form of studio and live gig use scenario?
I am a liveatreamer i have both the dlz and rode, love the post quality sound of the DLZ better than the Rode but the rode to me have better gain output on the usb than the DLZ Just my opinion
The duo is my first higher end (is it considered higher end? Idk, $500 is high end to me, ahaha) interface, and I really love it! There have been some hiccups with usb connectivity, and I definitely wish the headphone amp was better, but coming from a focusrite scarlett solo 3rd gen, and then presonus io24, I'm very happy with my purchase!
FYI - the Mackie does have custom headphone mixes. I just set one up yesterday. Press the option for the headphones you want to set up a mix for, and you can set it there.
so - How about a review on how streamers could use it - I use a go xlr that has many different inputs and outputs that I like with the routing table but how do you use any of these for live streaming also? I want to know how to compare the best overall for multiple use not just for podcasting and be able to use it for multiple uses especially for $500 Please include this for those that want to use it for multiple uses and how to take advantage of the feature while live streaming
Well, DLS's automix feature leaves Duo in the dust. It saves a ton of time and makes life easier. This one feature makes Duo lose the competition. Not to mention that digital to analog converters for headphones are sooooooo bad in Duo that it literally kills it as an audio device.
Given that Rode and Mackie are effectively the same company, do you see them taking features from one to the other? Like adding the Mackie to the Rode ecosystem.
Interesting. Really not sure...though I wonder if Mackie just fills in the live sound part of the company now. To be honest I'm not sure...but an RCP with that screen would be unstoppable
500 bucks for this crap? What is it? Why all the buttons and the screens? Since when do a mixer need a screen and flashy buttons? Three EQ dials per channel and a fader per channel and a master fader is all you need. I don't even understand what this crap is good for?!
@@chrisnielsen9885 what is is good for then? 500 bucks for a device with two mic inputs, are you joking? What's the advantage with this compared to a normal mixer and a sound card or a field recorder? Two mic inputs, is this a joke?
@@Noisavant it’s not a frickin field recorder though is it? And it’s not a mixer. It’s a tool specifically designed for a niche market - podcasting. If your use case isn’t podcasting you’d have rocks in your head to buy one so why are you complaining about something you have no use for?

Man all rode needs on the duo is more virtual channels for me... Or even have multiple outputs on the "unify" app would be helpful..

1st of six videos is to set a new video release record for the channel. Can't wait!

Would I be able to decking with the Mackie..... I haven't see a video talking about it... Thanks
Yes it has ducking
what if you can only afford the cheap under $50 what would you give advise
Save up until you can afford more than $50.
Can you record seperate audio tracks for mic, game, discord with mackie like goxlr does?
Whats the difference between the mackie streaming mixer and something like tascam model 12?

@@DarkCornerStudios no problem! I just got it set up like 2 days ago so it’s fresh in my mind.
I just sold my duo . Was a tough decision . Bc the pre amps and all are so good . But trying to record and stream . It just can’t do it .
What did you go with instead?
Why it cant record and stream?
You have a video on Roland Bridge Cast X? If not, you planning on making one?
Planning yes!
Did you by chance book them both up to your favorite studio monitors to compare their main out power/volume? If so, which one rocks the best? Thanks
Both comparable...no real difference
@@DarkCornerStudios thanks
I like the Duo better. Its easier to use and it isnt such a sharp learning curve to master. Plus the pads are easier to customize.

doesn't this smaller dlz creator feature auto mix functionality?
Yes!
It is literally just a smaller version of the full size DLZ Creator!
@@DarkCornerStudios I guess so
Thus, for those who want to mic more than one person may find it useful
Im going with whichever is cheaper on sale

On the rcp?
Or the dlz?
