Everybody’s all “Holy cow! Sothis is a beast!”, forgetting that Sothis’ power allowed Byleth to *cut an opening out of another dimension* in Three Houses. Let’s just be grateful they don’t have the Sword or the Creator yet!
@@momokosakurada605 Is it limited to New Game+? That’s sad. I wanted to see Byleth get it legit. Imagine storming the Holy Tomb and stealing the Sword of the Creator from right under Rhea’s nose. And then seeing her weird it in a cutscene and Shez be like “oh shit good thing we’re not enemies anymore.”
I died of laughter when I got this scene for the first time with a Male Byleth. It’s so serious like “oh shit, so this what Byleth’s power looks like to other people” then just a kid’s voice comes out a fully grown man just made me go “What the fuck- Sothis!?“ like I was so thrown off after that point.
I'm pretty sure that's not what Byleths power looked like to people in Three Houses. Byleths power in Three Houses was to travel back in time, allowing them to perceive things earlier than they would've otherwise, it's like future prediction in a way. Either way, it shouldn't have been visible to anyone from the outside. I assume they changed it for Three Hopes because that's a power that primarily fits into a turn-based strategy game, but not a Hack-and-Slash action game, where timestop is another time-related ability that works way better.
@@Justic_ Byleth has control over time. They even pause it momentarily before going back in time - this is shown a few times. Presumably Byleth in 3H just goes back in time to influence the outcome of the battles, whereas here in 1 on 1 fights she'd actually use it to gain an advantage
@@Klawzor We see time pause when they use their ability, but I don't think we ever see them move in the paused time, you could very well say it's just a visual cue for the audience to get whats going on. Like, even if Byleths powers are generally more just control over time, that doesn't really change that we never really saw them use it in a JoJos "The World"-style before Three Hopes, or anything outside of hopping back in time, like we haven't seen them speed up time at all either.
Well, homocidal. Genocide would be a few scales larger than her going after Shez. But yeah, her just taking over like that felt very out of character compared to her in Three Houses, which might be related to her seemingly not suffering from Amnesia when she first properly speaks with them.
To those wondering why Sothis is so different here; In Three Houses: -Sothis was awakened in the Imperial Year 1180 when her power and consciousness were forced to manifest early to protect Byleth's life during the battle against Kostas. -At the very beginning of the game, after Byleth gives Sothis some basic personal information, Sothis dozes back off - further implying that she wasn't fully done resting. -Byleth's conversation with Jeralt right after this sequence suggests that she sees and/or speaks to Sothis like this often in her dreams. Possibly suggesting that she's had this repetitive conversation with Sothis many times. -Sothis is clearly lacking parts of her memory, but can no longer remain in hibernative sleep to regain them once she used her power against Kostas. -As Byleth travels to the Officer's Academy, rids Zanado of bandits, obtains the Sword of the Creator and goes on other adventures, her bond with Sothis grows. Sothis becomes akin to a parental figure, offering Byleth advice and becoming more personally invested in the worldly struggles of Fodlan as she watches Byleth deal with them. -Sothis comforts Byleth after Jeralt's death. -By the time Sothis regains her full memory in 1181, she has grown attached to Byleth due to all they've been through together and Byleth has likewise come to trust Sothis. However, In three hopes: -Sothis was fully awakened and manifested in Imperial Year 1182 - a full 2 years later than in Three Houses. -Byleth's dialogue with Jeralt here confirms that Sothis has been nothing more than a figure in a dream until now. Sothis has lacked the same presence that she had in the original game, presumably due to her remaining asleep for a little while longer as she recovers more of her memories. -Due to Sothis having remained dormant and Byleth never experiencing the events of Three Houses, the two have never had the opportunity to bond. As a result, Byleth does not have the same trust in Sothis as she does in the original game, meanwhile Sothis lacks the same care and empathy for Byleth or the worldly affairs of Fodlan for the same reasons. -Sothis having awakened fully with her memories means that the last thing she recalls is the group of humans who betrayed her/her people by using the blessings she bestowed on them against her, her sacrificing much of her power to ending that war and restoring the land - causing her hibernative sleep and possibly her getting brutally murdered in her sleep. So betrayal, war and death are the most recent memories in her mind right now. Complete with the fact that Shez has Arval and Sothis suspects that Shez is descended from the group of humans who betrayed her and well...she is Rhea's mother and how well did Rhea handle Byleth's betrayal in Crimson Flower?
It was Rhea that betrayed Byleth. Byleth was trying to save their own student's life only to be threatened by Rhea for doing so. Rhea could have easily done it herself, why bring a Byleth into it? Byleth had no reason to kill Edelgard for petty trespassing charges. They are teachers not a knight of Seiros.
@@TheOmegaDragon While I agree with most of this, "petty trespassing charges" were likely not why Rhea wanted Edelgard dead, rather, Edelgard leading an insurrection that not only tried to steal the crest stones (the hearts of her fellow Nabateans), but endangered the lives of everyone present, including herself, Byleth, and the students.
@@carlbotdiscord Taking into account Sothis's more complete memory in Three Hopes, one would hope there would be more insight into how she views Rhea and the church of Seiros. In Three Houses, much of Rhea's motivation/obsession centers around Sothis. However we learn almost nothing about their relationship or what Sothis thinks of her, the plans to potentially revive her, the religion centered around her and much more. Unfortunately, it seems Three Hopes has neglected to offer any context into this either.
@@carlbotdiscord By that time, she was already defeated. Edelgard is Byleth's student and a teen to top it off. If a principle asked a teacher to kill their own student to trespassing on campus, would you, do it? I wouldn't. Apprehending her would be good enough. Edelgard even gave warning to BE not to get in the way so that they would not get hurt. This indicates she cares for her friends enough not to harm them unnecessarily. Even if you agreed to kill her, she gets away anyways. That moral decision is up to the player. Personally, I didn't because Edelgard showed the upmost respect to Byleth for saving her life. I get Rhea missed her mother being Sothis's youngest child but, to get angry and get incredibly aggressive when things don't go her way is what is expected (ironically) from a child not a leader.
@@TheOmegaDragon "Petty trespassing?" I think you mean grave-robbing and desecrating the corpses of Rhea'a slaughtered people. Edelgard's warning for the Black Eagles to stay out of the way fails to relay any type of care when she IMMEDIATELY follows it up by telling her soldiers (and this is the actual quote from the game) "I command you to collect the Crest Stones! If anyone attempts to stop us...kill them." In other words; "My friends whom I have lied to and betrayed, allow me and my forces to rob these graves with no resistance or I will have you killed." Let's not oversimplify things here. Edelgard isn't getting the death sentence for "petty trespassing". Right before the route split, Edelgard illegally marched Empire forces onto Church grounds and revealed herself as the Flame Emperor. The same Flame Emperor who ordered Kostas to (as he put it) "kill as many noble brats as possible" at the beginning of the game. The same Flame Emperor who is allied/working with the people who KILLED Jeralt, slaughtered an entire village, manipulated the western church, kidnapped Flayn and killed countless others. "But she didn't approve." Cool story. Doesn't matter. Whether she approves or not, she still continues to work with them despite all they have done. If you watch someone commit murder and you help cover it up or never report it, it doesn't matter that you "did not personally approve of the murder", you are still an accessory to the crime. So as of Rhea giving the "Kill Edelgard" command, Edelgard is guilty of: -Sending bandits to murder a group of innocent teenagers at the start of the game -Illegally marching her army into non-empire territory. -Grave robbing corpses -Threatening to kill anyone (including Rhea, a world leader) who tries to stop her and her forces from grave robbing -Working with literal terrorists who kidnap children, slaughter entire villages and conduct horrible experiments on living people against their will. Rhea is 100% in the right to order Edelgard's death here. She isn't upset that "things didn't go her way". Working with murderous terrorists ALONE is a death penalty crime. Let alone everything else Edelgard did. Let's honestly look at this decision about who Byleth should side with: Rhea vs Edelgard -Rhea saved Jeralt's life many years ago and created Byleth's mother, who she then lovingly raised as a daughter (despite Sitri not manifesting Sothis' consciousness). -Rhea is the only reason Byleth was born and is the only reason Byleth survived to adulthood. People like whine about Rhea giving Byleth the heart of Sothis but conveniently forget that Byleth was a stillborn child who would have been dead without it and DLC (as well as Silver Snow and Verdent Wind) confirms that it was Sitri's initial idea to give Byleth the heart, not Rhea's. -Rhea has given Byleth the Sword of the Creator, a stable job, a place to live and continual support after Jeralt's death. -Rhea will also support Byleth's leadership in every other route and go on to literally die/take near fatal wounds protecting Byleth's life in Silver Snow and Verdent Wind while accepting the fact that she won't get her mother back and that Byleth is her own person. -Byleth and Rhea have known each other as long as Byleth and Edelgard. Technically Rhea has known Byleth a little longer and has a deeper connection with her, due to her ties to Jeralt, Sitri and Sothis. -Rhea is literally the only family that Byleth has left at this point. Meanwhile Edelgard: -Has been going behind everyone's back for the entire year that Byleth has known her -Edelgard's forces and allies have both threatened to kill Byleth on multiple occasions. -Edelgard is working with the people who MURDERED JERALT and will expect Byleth to work with these same people. Once again, Rhea isn't angry that "things didn't go her way" when Byleth chooses Edelgard. Rhea is pissed because her granddaughter (technically speaking) has decided to spit in the face of everything she's done for her to support a woman whose forces literally JUST tried to kill her.
This is very different from Sothis in Three Houses. When she remembered who she was she accepted her fate and chose to allow Byleth to choose their own destiny, but here she is willing to take Byleth’s body for her own. Rhea would be jumping with glee. Makes you think how the events of Three Houses and Three Hopes affected Sothis differently.
I think it's more because Sothis had longer to sleep so woke up with her memories combined with Shaz nearly killing her vessel and the fact Arval very existence pisses her off
I think it is moreso Arval's presence that somehow awakened Sothis's memories and original personality. And I think I am starting to understand why the Agarthans/OG humans may have been afraid of Sothis and the Nabateans.
Indeed, throughout all campaigns involving Rhea it is quite clear she has little interest in Byleth, the 'mere vessel' and more the expectation of a potential revival for Sothis. Her fascination and preferential treatment of Byleth hinges around this.
@@Ergeniz At the end of Silver Snow and Verdant Wind she seems to have realized her mother’s decision to honor Byleth’s life and reluctantly accepts that fact.
I love just how antagonistic Sothis is towards Byleth here, presenting herself like a villain who will take Byleth’s body for themselves instead of the companion with memory lose from 3 houses But in her actions she shows that she really cares while on the other hand Arval is the complete opposite
They are definitely foils for each other that's for sure. Sothis was never human but she did care about and assist humanity enough to be worshiped. Plus as far as she is concerned, Shez just got pretty close to murdering Byleth (and by extension herself) so I think a bit of anger is warranted.
The sheer fact she was willing to kill Shez on the fact they were about to kill Byleth was great. Not because of any malice, just because it was Byleth.
@@4wheal That, and Shez is holding the God the Argathians tried to make Aka the biggest symbol of their hubris and overall like of respect for her, depsite all that she and her children gave them and other humans
Not quite. Sothis would not have been this aggressive in Three Houses since she and Byleth had time to bond before she awakened. This Sothis has only just awakened and has had no time to bond with Byleth at all. Therefore Byleth does not trust her and Sothis does not care much for her vessel.
Nemesis was very lucky Sothis did not wake up (or came back to life if she was dead before he intruded into her tomb) He'd have been her chair for all eternity, I take it
I love this we see byleth completly voice acted having either a father daughter or sun(gender pending) conversation fully voice acted with geraldthat makes byleth bit more fleshed out than in 3 houses
Honestly, yeah. Byleth is beyond the wild animal she is here in every way if she has the Sword of the Creator. Considering Byleth reached enlightenment, I would surmise that the Sword of the Creator already evolved into the Sublime Creator Sword, and is simply inaccesible because: tomb.
I like how this rivalry is handled gameplay wise, and story wise. In the first battle, Byleth is so unbelievably op that even in gameplay, they kick your ass HARD. In this bout, you’re a match in a one v one, but Sothis activates enlightenment in self defense and out of anger. In the final battle, Byleth fights Sothis, while Shez maximizes their power by combining with what Arval gives them. Yes, Byleth is Murked beyond comprehension, but it’s made to make sense within the story. And if you recruit Byleth instead, they are actually stupidly powerful.
Shez wouldn't stand a chance against Byleth if Byleth used all her strength and got serious. The only reason Byleth doesn't is because shez is the main character in this game. There should have been an ending where Byleth kills shez.
@@zerefdragnell8756 did I not acknowledge that Byleth would crush Shez under normal circumstances? Every fight has Byleth either retreating because Jeralt said so, or an underlying circumstance that makes him/her substantially weaker. Specifically, Sothis’s overbearing revenge drive should you not recruit the Ashen Demon. Shez is not all that, but the rivalry is still handled REALLY well. That was the point of my comment. Not to pick out that Byleth would rape Shez in lone combat with no interference. Or claim that Shez would have a realistic chance of winning, even in chapter 14. I’ve said my bit.
@@hyperstargaming6150 To be fair Shaz starts off as a normal human with nothing special about them while Byleth is definitely somthing more then human, has the strongest Crest and was trained from a very young age by Fodlans best knight. Shaz was always going to have an uphill battle to be equal with Byleth
Yeah, and imagine if Byleth got the Sword of the Creator. Not only can they use it, but it's also Sothis's original body, and would probably make them even more powerful.
Seeing this made me realize how they might have planned something like this for Sothis from the start. Particularly, the "Revenge, it lives!" quote. She's angry, and she wants the Agarthans to pay.
I just realized but I feel like this scene gives context to why Jeralt was surprised at the start of Three Houses saying "Wait, did you just...?" I always found that line strange but now it makes sense if Byleth just seems to teleport after almost or actually dying.
Three houses Sothis: You’re free to use my power however you want. I trust you to do whatever you want and it’ll be the right choice. Three hopes Sothis: I own you body, mind, and soul. Don’t even think about disobeying me and if you do so help me!
Can't help but compare this version of Sothis and Byleth's relationship to that of Grima and Robin - an ancient, incredibly powerful being connected directly to a human vessel who was in some way created for the purpose of reviving them, with the ancient being threatening to take control against the vessel's wishes. Hell, even the way they lived their lives up until the point of the plot is similar, with one of their parents sneaking away with them when they were very young lol
Mostly true but with a few differences. Grima was a destructive God, an evil being born to bring chaos or perhaps he was already too old and therefore he became mad (it is widely known in the Fire Emblem franchise that when a dragon or "manakete" reaches a certain age they fall into insanity and become akin to a wild beast wanting nothing but destruction, like an inevitable disease). Meanwhile, Sothis here remains herself just fine, she was simply enraged at the agarthans for slaughtering her kin and wanting revenge.
@@necasa4919 As I recall, Grima was artificially made by a mage experimenting at the bottom of a labyrinth sometime before Alm and Marth's time according to SoV's postgame, regardless I was definitely comparing with broad strokes - Robin and Three Hopes Byleth are similar even though Grima and Sothis are not lol
@@necasa4919 You people keep saying that. But where does it ever state that Sothis even knows this particular detail? Hell, where does it even state that she wants revenge for that? Sothis literally looks at Dimitri and Felix holding the Relics and goes, "You offer them to me as tribute?" That's not the words of a mother angered by the loss of her children. That's just someone who sees something fancy and wants it to be given to her because it might look good on her wall.
@@0axis771 Fair, there may not be conclusive evidence about what she wants to do or what her motives are, on that I concede (which is part of why I think the fact that this Sothis was so little explored is such a waste). And she does recognize the relics tho, as she calls them by the titles her children once had.
I saw this scene for the first time today (I'm playing with male Shez and male Byleth) and, not gonna lie, it kinda scared the hell out of me. It's fascinating and scary to see Sothis go from souding like a strict mother in Three Houses to an abusive savage here.
When I saw this for the first time, it gave me chills. Seeing Sothis take control of Byleth’s body and use Devine Pulse to practically teleport around is actually so insane. This game did not disappoint :)
Sothis to Byleth in 3 Houses: "I just woke up and have zero idea of what's going on or even what happened, so I'll just let you drive." Sothis to Byleth in 3 Hopes: "I just woke up and these schmucks think they can do me dirty like back then, so I'll have to drive."
Seeing Sothis like this in Three Hopes, it’d be interesting for Byleth to get a fallen alt in Heroes where they are completely under Sothis’ control. Idk if it’ll ever happen considering the characters from the first Warriors game still haven’t been added, but who knows?
I wonder, Sothis says Byleth isn't strong enough to stop them, but they did fight back. So does that mean not strong enough because of the fight, not strong enough because Sothis is stronger, or Byleth was never strong enough and Sothis just never wanted to.
@@sniperalexander248 Possibly, I haven't gotten far enough to know the full context. It's just something never hinted at before or after from my memory, so it seems weird to talk about it now. Like when fusing in Houses Sothis mentions they were always together, and in the DLC one of the bandits that attacked you in the prologue can be found in Abyss and Sothis says she'd kill him for justice, but respects Byleth's choice to either report him or let him go. So even if she has her full memories or whatever, seems weird to me that she brings it up now like this.
Yeah I am floored, it made me realize when Sothis mentioned the throne how manipulative Rhea was because had it worked the way it was intended Sothis would have taken over permanently and Rhea would have been completely okay with that.
Shez doesn't stand a chance against byleth. Byleth is much stronger than shez as you can see. The problem is that Byleth doesn't want to kill shez. Byleth doesn't use all her strength.
I love how they hid from us in the trailer. That bit with Byleth's sword pointing towards the camera, she says something about this will be the last time she and Shez fight, but of course that's not what was really said. It made for a genuine shock on my 1st reaction.
Byleth when they're a boss: "ZA WARUUDOO!!!" Byleth when they're a playable character: "Best I can do is rewind 3 turns on this forest map full of beasts."
2:12 Byleth: Sothis we can't we're dealing with Dragon Ball Rules!!! Sothis: Dragon ball Rules?!! Byleth: You Might wanna read this (One Read of Dragon Ball Super Later). . . Byleth: the term is Manga sothis Sothis: I blame my daughter to put my DNA into a vessel who grew up to be a professor for the three houses church and not make the vessel ripe enough for me to be fully be reborn RHEA!!!
Not crazy about how they just completely changed the storyline in this game compared to 3H. Sothis lacks the sass she had, replaced with a more arrogant demeanor and the timeline is just completely changed to add in Shez and Arval who just happens to change the past to be a part of it. Plus lacking any actual major conflict between Byleth/Sothis and Shez/Arval. Just some one sided rivalry with Byleth hardly being a part of anything.
@@mcblocks123 Too bad. Kinda wish they have at least a C support with the three main lords. Like that one scene in Scarlet Blaze where they're talking to Claude.

@Will the cuck Smith Who hurt you, your reply sounds very angry? And have you seen the trailers, guess which gender they use? And you can't just dismiss my point of her being expressive, if you have seen cutscenes in fe3h, you can see that female Byleth is way more expressive, they way her eyes move, and general body movement add to my point. You obviously take me for an overly obsessed feminist, right? Well that is not the case. I am not transgender either. Why do you say I was crying, when I made a harmless comment? The reason there is no female amiibo for Byleth is because in Smash Ultimate, male fire emblem characters are always the first outfit. I'm sure if fe3hopes got its own amiibo's, female Byleth would be the amiibo chosen. I am also a fan of Chrono Trigger, and do enjoy Chrono's character, so that point doesn't work. What did I say that was "delusional nonsense"? Did I miss anything you said. I'm sorry that my opinion of Female Byleth being more expressive offends that "giant" head of yours. And btw, objectively, female Byleth is the main Byleth of THIS game, I am not talking about fe3houses. Next time, how about you chill a bit, and not assume I'm a transgender feminist, I know how annoying people of that type can be.
@Will the cuck Smith *sigh* There is no use arguing with you, but I will let you know things you messed up. I am not a progressive, I made that clear. I do not do the female choice in any game, in every assassin's creed game with the ability to play the male, I have played the male character because there character is better. Female Byleth is the only exception, and I stated I know how you must feel, with having to deal with feminists and practically every gay person, and it's annoying with you saying it to me again. By expressive I mean shows their emotion more. And let me state it again I know how you are feeling hearing every zoomer saying how wonderful the female characters are and that they are better. But Byleth is the only exception for me. I am not saying male Byleth is bad, just that if we are comparing minor differences, female Byleth is better because of how she shows her emotion. Dude, I feel for you, really, but just don't compare me to those leotard's who make everything about being feminine. I find the gender used in trailers to be the canon, which is something we will have to agree to disagree on. Most importantly, and the biggest thing you have wrong about me is that I apparently have never played chrono trigger and don't like Chrono as a character, which I have and do. I have beaten all endings, some many times over. I understand that you think I would be lying, as Chrono doesn't say anything, and by your definition, would be a worthless character. But I don't just define how good a character is by what he says, I define how good a character by his actions. Chrono does some funny, and stupid things, mainly the dialogue choices in cutscenes. Though, I also like his choices he makes on his own in cutscenes. Sure he doesn't have much personality compared to basically any other RPG character, but the personality he has is great. And also, please stop calling me a progressive, I am not, and I am against people like that.
You know when you're playing Three Houses, you boast about how broken you are with Sothis's power. But when you play THREE HOPES, it's like the game did the Uno reverse on your ass! I started to feel what my enemies felt when I was using that time power like a spam button, FEAR.
Sothis is kinda like Zangetsu/White Ichigo, as they defend Byleth from life-threatening dangers and “strike down foes with one stroke”, just like Zangetsu did with Ichigo.
Both Byleth is holding back and is attacked by the whole army. In game, Byleth says things like “I will get overwhelmed if I stay here” and Arval notes they are holding back. So Shez never really beat Byleth,
Haven't played Three Hopes yet but wait, I'm confused. Sothis definitely wasn't this hostile and controlling in Houses. Is this just who she would have been if she had more time to reshape herself and turn Byleth into her vessel? Is the implication that, because they talked before Sothis even knew she was Sothis, it influenced her enough to be more chill? And why, in this timeline, would this be the first time Byleth and her talked anyway? You can't even pretend like the students never visiting Remire meant the two didn't have the chance! They had already talked just seconds BEFORE that! It's how they found out they shared birthdays!
I think the implication here is that this is not their first time they talk, but its the first time a powered up Sothis with all her memories interacts with Byleth. This is what Rhea wanted on Three Houses, Sothis overtaking Byleth and leading Fodlan to peace.
Maybe, but why did Byleth only just now point it out to Jeralt? And wait, if this ISN'T the first time they talked, what was different about their convos before this moment and why did Sothis feel the need to introduce herself by name or as the Beginning? That was still early on when she was slowly regaining her memories so wouldn't that also be the case here? And heck, something MUST have been different between them this time that influenced Sothis because she did regain her memories in full, iinm, and still didn't completely dominate Byleth's body. On the contrary, she gave them her power by merging their souls but the Professor was still in control despite the efforts of Lady Rhea. I could probably buy that Sothis would otherwise have been just as domineering and murderous as her daughter and even that she would regain her memories much, much later w/o the events of Houses to spur the two on to learn more about themselves, but then what were their interactions like before this? Nothing? Minor small talk? Byleth being so bad at social interaction that they can't even hold a conversation with, for all they knew, an imaginary friend? ... What the hell am I saying? Of course they couldn't. lmao

Nothing in this new timeline justifies it (at least as far as I know.) And if it isn't, did Byleth just never talk about it to Jeralt beyond describing her appearance? Did Jeralt never ask? Why would the two talking to one another catch him off guard like it seems to here? I know his kid's sporting a different hair an eye color now so ALL of this is weird to him but still...

I like how much more arrogant Sothis is here, due to the lack of bond that she shared with Byleth in 3H. To her, Byleth is currently nothing more than a vessel. A "glove" if anything. It's a side of Sothis that most players aren't familiar with, but this was undoubtedly a side that Agarthans definitely knew and very much feared.
Well, when you declare a war on other fellow humans, the goddess herself and her direct descendants for control and power, don't expect that goddess to take up the challenge too kindly.

@@necasa4919 Based on the book, it seems that they attacked because they felt that they were going to BE attacked. It is possible that Sothis grew angered by the Agarthans and could have planned to wipe them out or something. The Agarthans panicked and attacked to defend themselves. Like, if there was someone as powerful as Sothis and she was worshipped as a goddess, but you don't. You'd be terrified of her and would either suck up to her, run from her, or fight her. The Agarthans likely made the weapons as a means to just defend themselves. Like a nuclear deterrent.
@@Justic_ maybe Shez can see the reversed time because they also have a god in their head or something.
@@AshenDust_ Except nothing about that was reversed time, and we can also see in Byleths gameplay that it's pretty much just a classic timestop.
I see she went from "Sassy lost child" to "Genocidal madwoman".
Not really. Shez tried to kill her vessel. It's self defense if nothing else.
@@emoneestep And yet you didn't see Sothis act like this towards anyone else in the original Three Houses.
Well, homocidal. Genocide would be a few scales larger than her going after Shez.
But yeah, her just taking over like that felt very out of character compared to her in Three Houses, which might be related to her seemingly not suffering from Amnesia when she first properly speaks with them.
Well, I guess an apple (Seiros) doesn't fall that far from the tree (Sothis).
In 3 houses she is grateful to Byleth for killing the bandits in Zanado
So
Don't fuck with the Nabateans
To those wondering why Sothis is so different here;
In Three Houses:
-Sothis was awakened in the Imperial Year 1180 when her power and consciousness were forced to manifest early to protect Byleth's life during the battle against Kostas.
However, In three hopes:
-Sothis was fully awakened and manifested in Imperial Year 1182 - a full 2 years later than in Three Houses.
@@TheOmegaDragon
"Petty trespassing?"
I think you mean grave-robbing and desecrating the corpses of Rhea'a slaughtered people.
Edelgard's warning for the Black Eagles to stay out of the way fails to relay any type of care when she IMMEDIATELY follows it up by telling her soldiers (and this is the actual quote from the game) "I command you to collect the Crest Stones! If anyone attempts to stop us...kill them."
In other words; "My friends whom I have lied to and betrayed, allow me and my forces to rob these graves with no resistance or I will have you killed."
Let's not oversimplify things here.
So as of Rhea giving the "Kill Edelgard" command, Edelgard is guilty of:
-Sending bandits to murder a group of innocent teenagers at the start of the game
-Illegally marching her army into non-empire territory.
-Grave robbing corpses
-Threatening to kill anyone (including Rhea, a world leader) who tries to stop her and her forces from grave robbing
-Working with literal terrorists who kidnap children, slaughter entire villages and conduct horrible experiments on living people against their will.
Rhea is 100% in the right to order Edelgard's death here. She isn't upset that "things didn't go her way".
Working with murderous terrorists ALONE is a death penalty crime. Let alone everything else Edelgard did.
Let's honestly look at this decision about who Byleth should side with: Rhea vs Edelgard
-Rhea saved Jeralt's life many years ago and created Byleth's mother, who she then lovingly raised as a daughter (despite Sitri not manifesting Sothis' consciousness).
Meanwhile Edelgard:
-Has been going behind everyone's back for the entire year that Byleth has known her
-Edelgard's forces and allies have both threatened to kill Byleth on multiple occasions.
@@Ergeniz At the end of Silver Snow and Verdant Wind she seems to have realized her mother’s decision to honor Byleth’s life and reluctantly accepts that fact.
well shes trying to protect byleth, obviously, she cares about her. Arval doesn't care for shez
I love just how antagonistic Sothis is towards Byleth here, presenting herself like a villain who will take Byleth’s body for themselves instead of the companion with memory lose from 3 houses
But in her actions she shows that she really cares while on the other hand Arval is the complete opposite
They are definitely foils for each other that's for sure. Sothis was never human but she did care about and assist humanity enough to be worshiped. Plus as far as she is concerned, Shez just got pretty close to murdering Byleth (and by extension herself) so I think a bit of anger is warranted.
I mean I would be mad If I had the person (Arval) who kill all of my kids
The sheer fact she was willing to kill Shez on the fact they were about to kill Byleth was great. Not because of any malice, just because it was Byleth.

@@4wheal Oh you do have a point! Maybe both? Considering Sothis could've killed Shez the first second.
So this is what Rhea wanted during the Rite of Rebirth chapter huh? Quite interesting to see/hear Sothis with Byleth’s body honestly!
Not quite. Sothis would not have been this aggressive in Three Houses since she and Byleth had time to bond before she awakened.
This Sothis has only just awakened and has had no time to bond with Byleth at all. Therefore Byleth does not trust her and Sothis does not care much for her vessel.
Also she remembers more memories in Hopes. In Houses she doesn't remember nearly as much.
Nemesis was very lucky Sothis did not wake up (or came back to life if she was dead before he intruded into her tomb)

A new gender already? goddamnit.
Shez is lucky Byleth don't have the sword of the creator
Honestly, yeah. Byleth is beyond the wild animal she is here in every way if she has the Sword of the Creator. Considering Byleth reached enlightenment, I would surmise that the Sword of the Creator already evolved into the Sublime Creator Sword, and is simply inaccesible because: tomb.
LET'S GO. BYLETH ACTUALLY ACTS LIKE A CHARACTER THIS GAME
to bad they completely ruin clauds character making him just empire 2.0
I mean they were in 3h you just had to pay more attention

Yeah, and imagine if Byleth got the Sword of the Creator. Not only can they use it, but it's also Sothis's original body, and would probably make them even more powerful.

I just realized but I feel like this scene gives context to why Jeralt was surprised at the start of Three Houses saying "Wait, did you just...?"

@@jamman3464 Byleth can talk quite a lot too
Can't help but compare this version of Sothis and Byleth's relationship to that of Grima and Robin - an ancient, incredibly powerful being connected directly to a human vessel who was in some way created for the purpose of reviving them, with the ancient being threatening to take control against the vessel's wishes. Hell, even the way they lived their lives up until the point of the plot is similar, with one of their parents sneaking away with them when they were very young lol
exactly
Sothis literally looks at Dimitri and Felix holding the Relics and goes, "You offer them to me as tribute?"
That's not the words of a mother angered by the loss of her children.

Sothis to Byleth in 3 Hopes: "I just woke up and these schmucks think they can do me dirty like back then, so I'll have to drive."

I thought she meant “you are not strong enough to prevent me from taking control over you completely”.
@@sniperalexander248 Possibly, I haven't gotten far enough to know the full context. It's just something never hinted at before or after from my memory, so it seems weird to talk about it now.

0:07 Why did Sothis take over Byleth's body?
This AU is awesome
based
@@nuibaba280 lol, still looking for people to coddle you.
Guess who’s joining the Order of Heroes?
Fell Female Byleth
Byleth literally used Za Warudo
This version of Sothis is so much more interesting. Genuinely feels more like a parasite taking over Byleth, she is actually scary
THE WORLD.
so Shez had beaten Byleth but then she went anime power up on him. lmao
It's the same thing that Shez did when they got beaten.
Yeah, although, based byleth I think is better as she didn’t show she had a crest. Also did not have a powerful weapon, unlike shez.
Both Byleth is holding back and is attacked by the whole army. In game, Byleth says things like “I will get overwhelmed if I stay here” and Arval notes they are holding back. So Shez never really beat Byleth,
I need this woman to step on me
lol
Of course they couldn't. lmao
@@DrMintster Byleth has talked about her dreams and studd to Jeralt multiple times. That's why he asks "like the ones you used to have?" Jeralt knows Rhea did something to her
@@Klawzor I know that. Even in Houses, if Byleth explains they were dreaming about a girl, Jeralt will say they've described her to him before. THAT'S not what I'm asking. I'm tilting my head because the game, again, seems to imply this was their first true interaction with each other this time, and I'm wondering, like... how? Nothing in this new timeline justifies it (at least as far as I know.) And if it isn't, did Byleth just never talk about it to Jeralt beyond describing her appearance? Did Jeralt never ask? Why would the two talking to one another catch him off guard like it seems to here? I know his kid's sporting a different hair an eye color now so ALL of this is weird to him but still...
@@DrMintster I think it's different because Sothis in 3H had amnesia. This one doesn't, and didn't grow to respect Byleth
I know Shez was punching the air after this encounter
No Bc Byleth ate that boy up😭
Sothis going straight up king crimson on people now
God damn! Already!
Needs the dio sound effects
Z A W A R U D O
The only thing I dislike is that shez never surpasses Byleth and their rivalry just vanishes either by killing her when she is weakened or by recruiting and the game just forgets that she exists
Shez was doomed to be second rate to Byleth from the start.
@@Ergeniz yeah those dam developers really screwed the game over.
@@jkarma3356 lol, you are STILL coping.
Why would they ever surpass Byleth? Why would some nobody even come close? That’s the dumbest level of storytelling I’ve ever seen.
@@moonmoon2479 said nobody is possessed by an ancient diety weapon specifically designed to kill sothis in a game that was almost exclusively advertised as Shez vs Byleth rivalry.
That means she will control your body
This is the Sothis Rhea wanted to revive.
I hope I can see Male Byleth
I assume this is if you fight her in the first rematch for the side objective?
This happens as part of story. Final objective is to fight her in I forget which mission. But once you beat her this cutscenes occurs
When will she have her older self and some reunion with Rhea? Haha
I’ve played through golden wildfire. And I recruited byleth. Yet I don’t fully understand what Arval is. Someone help me understand their origin please
this voice sounds like midna
Nah, even Midna wasn’t that bratty
Me: Hey! Its self defense she attacked me first!
same voice of kujou sara :)
I still wonder why they didn't give byleth a voice in three houses
It’s not really there real power. They don’t have the sword of the creator. With that I don’t think Shez would stand a chance.
Shez doesn't stand a chance even now...
@@Ergeniz they almost got byleth this time sothis had to step in and save them.
Was really hyped after this until that lackluster final confrontation ruins everything
Rather rich for Sothis of all people to call someone ‘arrogant’.
Do you get any special item or anything if you choose not to recruit byleth?
Nope.
This is why I always want to side with Edelgard. I have no grudge against Dimitri or Claude but Rhea and the Church are vile
I like this Sothis so much better
I like how much more arrogant Sothis is here, due to the lack of bond that she shared with Byleth in 3H. To her, Byleth is currently nothing more than a vessel. A "glove" if anything. It's a side of Sothis that most players aren't familiar with, but this was undoubtedly a side that Agarthans definitely knew and very much feared.
Well, when you declare a war on other fellow humans, the goddess herself and her direct descendants for control and power, don't expect that goddess to take up the challenge too kindly.
@@necasa4919 But those humans don't view her as THEIR goddess. Remember, Sothis is an alien that came to their land. And the original Agarthans had their own pantheon.
@@0axis771 Well fair, tho it does not take away the fact they attacked first. If someone slaps you you'll likely want to slap back.
Because people have this morbid sense of security at the idea that they have a weapon that can blow the world up.
Butch turned into fucking dio
So this Is kinda what Rhea wanted to happen but in a much less violent way?
Woah... What route and chap is this!?
It happens in all routes.
I guess they have special powers
Broke: "...I don't like Three Hopes!Claude, why is he such a jerk?"
Woke: "...I don't like Three Hopes!Sothis, why is she such a jerk?"
(Yes I know why, but WHY?)
Damn. Sothis’ va is really good. I’ve been playing it in Japanese and I’m still gonna cause I personally don’t care for byleths and many other voices in English (not saying they’re bad just that I prefer Japanese) but damn she’s amazing in this
I'd prefer it if more youtubers did their playthroughs with the Japanese VAs. At the very lest for the sake of variety.
@@Ergeniz ya I set it to English for a bit and it’s not bad per say, there’s just way less variety in the voices so it’s less interesting to me
