This is funny because out of the Three House Leaders, Dimitri’s retainer is by far the strongest among them, so he should have no problems with it, but then you remember that Dimitri himself has a 60 percent strength growth and goes “bitch imma do it myself”

There’s also his Crest that makes him unnaturally strong. He easily snaps weapons like twigs and his crits literally destroy the ground like small meteors. Dimitri is the strongest character in the game(physically wise).

@@snyperguy5006 technically Edelgard is, if we go off of base stats, she’s tied for the highest base strength in the game with byleth at 13, while Dimitri’s is only 12. Also if I recall correctly Edelgards crests increase her strength too, during a lecture she comes up to you and asks to change her goals to heavy armour, something about she doesn’t feel the weight and can move around with ease which she hypothesises is due to her crests.

The issue with Claude is that it’s not really considered appropriate for a man to carry an unconscious lady around, and would likely run the risk of getting him accused of something inappropriate, hence why he has Hilda carry Femleth. That isn’t an option for Dimitri, since Dedue would likely get accused even faster, what with him being from Duscur.
Edelgard, meanwhile, might be able to lift Manleth up, but because she’s so short, she’d probably just end up falling over, so she has Hubert (who probably has plenty of experience hauling others around, alive and otherwise) do it. Hilda would have the same problem, so it’s faster for Claude to do it himself.

Finally someone talking sense. Carrying Byleth themselves might be a touching gesture but you can't ignore the practical problems of transport and social conduct that this situation presents to the House Leaders. How it was handled makes perfect sense to me.

I understand that the implication is that Edelgard and Claude feel it would be “improper” or whatever to carry back the Byleth who isn’t their gender, but I feel like Dimitri has the most appropriate response to the situation.
Also, Edelgard could probably bench-press Hubert, so I don’t get why she wouldn’t ask Ferdie or Caspar instead. At least they have a strength growth, lol.

Hubert is her adjutant the same way Hilda is Claude's (won't die in story and can't ne recruited to other houses). It's also the reason Dimitri carries both Byleth, since his adjutant is also male.

I love how Dimitri is like "I'll just carry them and run" because carrying someone by yourself, even if you can, is not very good for the person unconscious. I just imagine him slinging Byleth over his shoulders like a sack of potatoes and just sprinting

This is one of the reasons why I love Dimitri the most of all out of all the house leaders. He doesn't hesitate to carry either Byleth on his back unlike Edelgard or Claude, who call for help on one or the other. He's such a gentleman to female Byleth especially.

byleth is as strong as dimitri (or even stronger) but i think for the fbyleth part, its a reference to the s support where he holds fbyleth hands (which is very dang tiny lol) we can all agree that dimitri can easily crush someones skull. this is him trying to be gentle with fbyleth.

Edelgard is downright *tiny* compared to male Byleth (which would make carrying him rather hard and awkward, regardless of her strength), while Hubert is one of the tallest characters (and has plenty of experience lugging people around, alive or otherwise).
As for Claude, it'd be improper for a man to carry an unconscious woman, and Hilda is both female and capable of carrying female Byleth. But Dimitri's retainer is Dedue, who's an even bigger guy and as a foreigner would probably be looked at as even more suspicious carrying around a small woman like that, so that leaves Dimitri carrying her himself as being probably the simplest course of action.

@@YikYakTikTak it's really not the fact that it is gay tbh. It's more that I've seen many people say that because Dimitri spends alot of time with the main character and they go through alot, that they should be gay?! Claude I fully understand, but being good friends with someone doesn't make you gay, you don't just suddenly turn gay for one person because you went through alot (I also think this shouldn't be the case for many straight relationships in media too btw - basically it feels cheap if there is no real chemistry, friendship and romantic relationships are very different but have mashed together in alot of media).
So really my bigger problem is making a romance out of something when it's not there, it's just I particularly see this with gay shipping. It would feel like pandering if it was in the game, and to me pandering is the most insulting thing to do. Trust me loving someone of the same gender I have no problems with at all, it's more the community as a whole (really just a vocal minorityt though which is the worst thing) wanting everything to be gay and pander to them. The individuals I'm fine with, met many lovely gay couples honestly.

Still sad Edelgard is the only one to have the gay romance. Claude and Dimitri are giving me that gay energy yet I cannot romance them as Male Byleth. Heck this is one of the VERY RARE instances where the developers even decide to change dialogue and acknowledge the professor's gender and despite that change, it still comes off gay. I mean I feel like people should be more surprised that Hilda was called to help out for Female Byleth when she should be the Professor that is lighter compared to the male. Then you got Dimitri who basically Bridal carries Male Byleth and runs.
@@michaelolegario6399 I feel like this scene has something to do with cultural differences since Asia is more averse to touching (at least in public). Like how hugging is more of a romantic and intimate gesture, a (fe)male carrying somebody from the opposite sex might be inappropriate (for some reason) so they have same-sex characters do it. Or maybe they're trying to emulate mentalities of old? I'm not sure about this, so take this with a grain of salt.
Since Dimitri has no female retainer, his "I have no other choice" kinda makes sense now though..

I think Claude's dialogue is the only instance of Three Houses specifying Byleth's gender. I may have missed something, but any other time they'd be refered to as "they" or Professor/Teacher/Teach. Obviously, the reason for that is to avoid recording twice as much dialogue for both genders, but it's curious how this specific scene allows that, due to the lines of dialogue being different to begin with (:

the other replies are right!! ^_^ the death knight does acknowledge byleth's gender twice in fort merceus. 1st is pre cutscene (if lindhardt & caspar are unrecruited they appear along with death knight in that scene)

the 2nd time is during the actual battle. "trample them. all save that man (or woman)."

Makes sense to why Dimitri carries both Byleths: It's the fact that there's this strange relationship between Fódlan and Duscur which makes Dedue a total outsider and as Dedue stated, they're always looked downupon. If Dimitri ever did call Dedue to assist him in carrying Byleth, that would cause stares and probably gossip around the monastery which isn't good for those of Duscur including Dedue himself.
Or it's just because Dimitri doesn't like asking people to do stuff for him in general.

I think people are misunderstanding. The house leaders refuse to carry you if opposite gender because it would inappropriate.

It isn't like Edelgard or Claude don't care but they are important political figures so being seen carrying their opposite-gendered professor's unconscious body could be misinterpreted in a way damaging to their reputations.
