PROS and CONS of Daily Driving A Camaro SS

  • This is the best daily driver I've ever owned! My wallet says otherwise..... but it doesn't compare to the joy I get just driving to work or to run errands, totally worth it! If your budget and lifestyle can support a fun daily driver then go for it, even if it's for a shorter period of time. that’s how i am, i can’t stop driving mine. it’s fun to drive and especially convenient with it having wifi and i don’t have to use my data with my phone. my car is my office, i work out of it all day, and it’s just a fun, comfortable and convenient car. my 6th gen is awesome! i love my 2002 z28 too but i don’t drive that one as much, has less than 10,000 miles on it.

    • @screamo4211
      @screamo4211 4 года назад +3

      a big con for the 6th gen though, if anybody is thinking of buying one, or have bought one, is the A8 transmission shudder from their torque converter/trans fluid issue. it’s a very real issue that is not a matter of “if” but a matter of “when”.

    I am so with you when it comes to trying to limit how much you drive the Camaro. I have a Caddy CTS and a 2012 Camaro and I still tend to want to drive the Camaro over the CTS when ever the sun is shining. I do have the Standard 6 Speed and I love driving it as often as I can. Once you get used to driving with a stick I think you will love it as much as I do. It just adds a whole different dynamic to the driving experience. Loved the review. When it comes to the Camaro, you and I are definitely kindred spirits.

    I bought a 2012 45th anniversary Camaro 2SS in September 2022. Had about 59,000 miles on it-absolutely love this car! It has the Borla Attack exhaust as well-sounds just like this one. I have a Silverado as my daily driver so the SS stays in the garage the majority of the time. Now have almost 70,000 miles on it and have had no issues at all with it. The car has the L99 with the automatic but I'd rather have the 6 Speed manual but it is what it is. I have not driven the car in the rain and don't plan on doing so unless I absolutely have to. It's a shame GM quit making the Camaro but sales had been really bad so I understand why GM made that decision. Previous owner added ZL1 style tires and wheels with cross drilled brake rotors-the car looks fantastic! Was actually wanting a Corvette when I stumbled upon this SS...so far very pleased with it. I do my own oil changes using full synthetic oil as I am very particular with this car. Paid $24,500 for it which is alot I admit but the car is set up just the way I would have done it myself. I don't have any issues seeing out of it unless I'm looking over my shoulder then there are a couple of bad blind spots but it hasn't been that big of a deal. Car does have Active Fuel Management which I'm not crazy about but my Silverado does as well and I haven't had any issues with it and it has almost 150,000 miles on it now. I've heard many of these AFM engines have lifter issues but I'll just say a little prayer and cross my fingers on that one! Anyway, loved your video and yes I LOVE MY CAMARO!

    Hope you still have that bad boy , I haven’t owned an American muscle car since I was young. I live north of the border and I am finally going to grab one as my summer car. Just a solid V8 power plant that sounds beautiful when I punch it.
    I mean Camaro’s & Mustangs are the best bang for your buck especially if you can find one driven by someone who looked after it. I’ve spotted a few 2010 with 50k miles on em for decent prices. I remember when this Camaro first came out I had other obligations but now that I can do it , I definitely am going to enjoy the summer with one of these monsters.
    It’s 2024 and with the gas prices where their at I’ll definitely be using it just a tad less.
    I am just trying to figure out whether it’s 2017 Mustang GT / Coyote V8 or a little older Camaro SS as they cost a little more out here.
    Thanks for the video !

    Honestly idk why everyone says theres no room in the back seats, ok I fit comfortably in the back when someone is sitting in passenger seat and im 6 foot. it is more crammed than other common vehicles but if you put your knees to the side and slouch in the seat a little bit you can get comfortable, I rode like that for well over 2 hours and I was fine, now I not the biggest guy though, soif you are a litle bigger than you might not fit as comfortably in the back, but honestly if you need a ride you can handle it for atleast 30 min, but everytime is get someone in there they have plenty of leg room but they hit there head I tell them spread your legs around the seat and slouch a bit and they are like woah this actually fits pretty good.

    Are your steering wheel paddle shifters functional...if they are you can help yourself by down or up shifting occasionally to get use to understanding the process of shifting a stick shift

      Vouch I had a 2014 Mustang brand-new and it completely fell apart starting at 51,000 miles, I traded it for a Camaro at 104,000 miles it was the best thing I ever did I should’ve done it a lot sooner 💫🏆

      cheap junk ford makes. my brand new s550 was clunking like cray from new. also tramlined like no other car i ever owned. was unable to keep a straight line at motorway speeds.
      utter pos cars and never again

    Hi I am a fan of your channels and a former owner of a 2010 camaro but not an SS..however I recently bought a 2012 2SSRS automatic with 1700 original miles and the exact color as yours but black interior. Haven't really driven it yet..waiting impatiently on registration and plate I bought it out of state so it's a process it seems or maybe due to covid. My question is do you still enjoy it as much as ever and have you had minimal issues. I have read various issues in camaro 5 forum including recurrent paint chipping. Otherwise Thank You for awesome videos.

      silver fox thankfully I haven’t had any issues with it besides the fuel pump control module going bad (that happened after I got it tuned) and I have about 53K miles on it now and I still love it!

      Hi I’m also getting a 2011 Camaro 2SS with 31,000 km on it I’m pretty excited as it will be my first car.. how is the fuel consumption for it? Would it be okay to daily drive it?

    • @silverfox383
      @silverfox383 3 года назад

      @@markyc1295 Hi you can definitely use it as a daily driver as long as you can afford everything that goes with it ex. gas, maintenance, etc..and know if it snows where you are its a no go in the Pirelli summer tires it comes stock with. Gas can become expensive depending on how you drive it and how far you drive it daily..I get about 20-22 mpgs on the highway and less in the city but I have the automatic which has active fuel management. Good luck!

    Only thing to hate about the 5th gen camaro, is that you could only get the LS3 with a manual transmission. You lose so much power in the L99 over the LS3. Other than that, it's a gorgeous car. I almost like it more than my 6th gen 2016 beauty.

      exacly when i herd that the auto had the l99 i was like wtf is a l99😂😂😂 i mean its basiclythe same engine😂

    • @BumbleBee-kg5ig
      @BumbleBee-kg5ig 5 лет назад +1

      You don't lose that much power, just 26 horse difference. You can gain that and more with exhaust, cold air and a tune, not to mention it has more toruqe than a six speed.

      chris johnston no it does not. The auto has 400 hp/410 tq, while the manual has 426 hp/420 tq

    I own a 2011 2SS convertible and I’m in love with it. But it sits around a lot because I never drive it in winter. Also you never see a lot of these around because of inflation these things are 60 Thousand dollars. :edit: I have the same colour interior as you lol but my car exterior is black with white racing stripes :edit 2: why does the steering wheel have indents in it?
