This is just proof that not everything has to be modded, in my opinion. "Stock" and "default" things somehow have this notion that they're bad but in reality MSFS is damn realistic as it is, and 2024 will only be better.

Great addon. Intend to stick with 2020 for a while,, this is a great addon. I use live weather only, and now able to remove dark grey underside of clouds, and make horizon looks better. I had to switch Bloom effect off in main menu. Way too bright with Rex. Also conflict with Trackir. Unable to text save, and save failed. I had some commands on keyboard. Moved them to hotas switches - OK now. Also a bug when starting a new flight while Rex activated. The planet is spinning wildly out of control. Have to turn off Rex to be able to pick a new airport. But highly recommend Rex.
Hmm, so really just an imprecise tool to alter the sim, but does the sim need to be altered? Not in my opinion, but thanks for the video, good to know what is was about.
Surprised Dolby hasn’t shutdown the use of “Atmos”. When I saw this title I thought this was a sound enhancement. Dolby apparently doesn’t pay any attention to this market sector. Always love your videos. Thanks for your quality channel!
'Atmos' word is used in other brands before windows apps were a thing, like a Japanese clothing brand from the 2000s. Dolby Atmos is a thing just out of the oven in the grand scheme of world brands.
The UI is missing a lot of relevant features, including showing the currently active condition. Once you close the program and start the app again, it would be nice to know if I have to select and load the conditions again and more.
Hi, great review as always. As I intend to move over to MSFS2024 when it comes out, I will wait to see what the default MSFS2024 weather and atmosphere is like before purchasing something like this.
Hello Captain. As you say, the sim has so many "tweeks" now, and for me, I still focus on flying the plane and getting to my destination. But the ground enhancements were quite noticeable. It's not an expensive add-on so for those who feel they need it - go for it. What makes this video GREAT is the side by side. We really can see the difference! !! !!!
While I am happy this exists the stock weather/sky is damn good for "stock". I think what we really need is enhanced night lighting of cities and runways.
I got this and really like it. It's very subjective of course, but for me the changes are subtle but significant. I finally have the sim looking as I would like it (yes, just as 2024 is about to be released).
Nice review thanks. I grabbed it just to kill off the bizarre Abobo sunrise and sunset visuals ie no more Jupiter sunrises with bizarre red glowing clouds the sims worst least realistic time. Its also excellent at killing off the volcanic CB’s thankfully. Money well spent for me
I'm expecting FS24 to have teething problems, so I'm going to get the most out of FS20 and move over when I know FS24 is stable. This looks like a nice improvement to keep me going until the move.
in my experience, misty or foggy scenarios really have some negative impact on the framerates with MSFS2020 weather. Does mist and fog have the same negative impact when using Rex Atmos?
Atmos only really changes the colours present with the weather, atmosphere and environment so it has zero impact on performance. The only thing that may perhaps effect performance in atmos would be the clouds detail setting I suppose however I have not noticed any performance impacts at all. Try turning down your cloud settings ingame in order to mitigate the impact of fog and heavy clouds with the sim.
seems rather odd to have this now..4 years too late but I got it anyways, the UI ir rather annoying with the scaling of it, does not remember your last scaling, each time you open it has to be adjusted again. Can also be used as a historic weather injector which is nice
I bought this and I'm actually quite happy with it. Use nvidia filters for contrast and saturation and the rest in atmos. It's not nearly as bad as some people claim. I've been looking for 3 years for a tool like this to be honest. It needs some numbers to know how much of a certain setting you apply. Currently is a bit of a guess how much you change.
I got it, i think it has way more capabilities that I would even need. One thing I am still currently figuring out is for example a certain settings that you make and look great at daytime, are horrendous at night. I want a setting that would be set and forget. But still can’t figure out this preset 😅

It is very useful for VR which can't use Nvidia filters.

Into the blue, I would love to know what you are flying most in the sim lately.
Great video and addon just they need to add one option to make the sky blue like royal blue or similar 😁👍

Why does the terrain under the trailing edge of the wing look so odd at 12:00 in both versions?
You should test it with other scenery, like vegetation?

Are you using any Nvidia filters?
If so can you share your settings?

Default: too much Yellow | Atmos / Reshade etc too much Magenta - you need to add BLUE, guys. look on the colour wheel!
👍👍 I would like to see what the weather will be in FS2024 first, before getting this... What about lightning, thunder and storms in REX Atmos?
Simply filters, you can get same with default Nvida Alt+F3 presets
