During the first year or two of the game, this mission was a 5-person story dungeon. Eventually, they changed it to a soloable story mission, as it is today. It's very cinematic, and the music is great :D Congrats on finishing the core personal story!
Nicely done! The guy in the loading screen was a boss from a meta back on release, it seems, he got removed from the game (or at least from the personal story) and players had to defeat him before being able to fight Zhaitan. Btw, You'll find out that dragons in GW2 aren't your typical fantasy dragons; there is only a single fire breathing dragon in the game called Primordus and he is fucking massive (his head is the size of Zhaitan lol) sadly we don't get to see his full size, just the head and neck, guess it'd have been too much to load something that massive, we do however get a clear view of 3 of the other dragons, full body size and all. Tbh, the fight against Zhaitan feels a bit dissapointing, it almost seems as if they ran out of time for development and had to rush it for release; the rest of the final fights in the game are amazingly done with even our NPC buddies helping out when present during the fights.
Ok cool. Can't wait to see the other dragons since they seem to be more of a highlight than Zhaitan. I'm lucky that I have all this content now as a beginner. I can only imagine players back in 2012 completing this and then waiting for updates. It's awesome that ANET improved it over time.
Howdy. My knowledge on Orr is bit rusty, but here it comes: The City of Arah where this story and dungeon takes place was the city of the Human Gods, so thats why its more, how should I say... grandiose. I think Gorillaz were only native to Orr, so when it sunk, everyone of them died and so they went extinct. With Zaithan raising everyone on the island, we got our Gorila bros back aswell. And why the whole island sank? Well as we all know the Charr are a very warmongering folk, so they even got to attack Orr aswell. The war wasn't going that grately for the Orrians, so the Human King used a powerfull spell to defeat the invaders, accidently nuking the whole island and sinking it to the bottom of the sea. This last part might not be 100% true, this is how i remember it, so anyone more knowledgeable shall feel free to correct me. Cheers.
I really want to like this fight. It got hyped up real good, but the execution is a bit of a flop. :| But worry not Mate, from now on, every major boss battle will be much more close and personal.
Yeah I can definitely see how it was disappointing but I am looking forward to the rest of the story content. From what everyone's been saying, it looks like literally everything after personal story is much better.
To be honest, its looks bad novadays only. It was greatly nerfed in many ways during all those years. Originally it was 5 players instance only, youll need full party to get in and it wasnt easy walk. There was much more foes, more champions and veterans spawn and you really need some skill and command work to shield the airship to prevent champions spawns and shoot dragons with cannons. In best case it required at least 3 players to just keep foes away from cannons. And i dont even mentioned dealing with full orrian meta to open arah gates first. Then it was nerfed, amount of foes decreased even for full party and mission was remaked to solo one. Champions becomes veterans(in same manner as all champions in start zones), veterans - to simple enemies and so on. Then there was old defiance system with stacks, which works with hard control effects only and there was no difference in control strength. No matter what it was, warrior's kick, thief headshot or engineer overcharged shot - they all remove 1 application of defiance stack. As a result it was nearly imposibble to break champions defiance without specialized party, so they used their most devastating attacks non stop. Which could lead to easy wipe. Especially if you screw up shielding and too much champions spawn.
I remember back in the day, this fight was utterly anticlimactic. Big elder dragon fight was basically a cinematic. 2nd dragon fight in Dragon Stand is much more epic. Look forward to it :)
3:445:21 nice reaction lol 7:13 Jeeez Dx GG! \O/ Glad you have fun. I finish this boss very very later bc I heard it is hard and at that time, I was not interested in the story. So I think I wait until living world season 4...? I think? Bc Living world season 4 really make me fall in love with many characters including my own character. So I turned back to finish the personal story. And also felt more confident to do the final chapter after unlocking new elite spec ;3
That's so interesting to hear that you had that experience with the story content later on without completing personal story. I'm really happy to hear that the living world seasons are very good. I really have to unlock at least one elite spec at some point lol.
kinda feel bad for zhaitan. just another being looking for food and he has to die for it. just another force of nature. if only he ate something else then life force.
Its Risen High Wizard, Legendary Gate guardian, that protect Gates of Arah during Siege meta event. Years ago, when last story mission still was 5 players only instance, it also required to open gates itself first.
Congrats!
You've beaten the tutorial :) Welcome to the neverending endgame!

I don't actually watch anyone play but I like the vibe in your videos, so I'm gonna sub and watch you play xD

That's interesting about the gorillas. It'd be cool to see the sinking of Orr in gameplay or something.
@@Mario_Universe the sinking happened way before gw2's story, sadly i don't how much earlier.
@@Mario_Universe IIRC, it happened before the first guild wars even. But I could be mistaken

G G !
BTW, your warrior is hitting really hard, it seems to be runnning a nice build. Keep having fun.
Thank you! I intend to.
I didn't realize my warrior hits hard lol. I don't have a lot to compare to yet.
Funnily enough, if not for the technical limitations, he'd be multiple times the size. If concept art is anything to go by, that is.
ready your seatbelt brother! the story is going to get rowdy soon
I'm sooo down for it!
Make sure to stay for the song in the epilogue
