    It's almost impossible to judge a battery by its c rating. All manufacturers lie and some manufacturers lie a lot about the output potential of their batteries. It's important to keep in mind that the connectors we're using are rated for somewhere around 100 amps and so is the wire. A 5000 milliamp hour battery at 100 amps is only 20c. If these batteries are actually outputting the kind of current that they say they would and the car could actually use it we would be melting wires and connectors.

    Yes I think stock tires and 3 more teeth on the pinion would give it the 10MPH it needs. 3 teeth on the pinion is equivalent to 9 teeth on the spur, so That’s a pretty big difference

  • @ZombifexGaming
    @ZombifexGaming 3 года назад +5

    You guys expected that thing to hit 60 or more with heavier tires and the stock pinion? The first thing I did was throw the 20 tooth pinion in, did a general maintenance check of the diffs and screws, calibrated my steering and my throttle/brake endpoints and then I took it for a rip. I'm running on stock tires, super stable and blow your truck out of the water. 🤣

    Smart packs aren't stupid. You just have to be smart enough to use the provided tech to maintain em.
    (See the spektrum battery analizer/balancer)
    Always use the correct C rating for your application.
    The more 0000s behind your pack = more run time.

    C rating mainly takes a toll on power demand to push and maintain that energy faster/quicker into the esc/motor meaning when you slam that throttle real fast the power will be able to exit the battery quicker then a lower rated battery. The hishest C rating battery is always best for ANY application.
    I think the real way to phisically see C rating power on the battery would be to drag test the car from point A to point B with sensors to read from start to end. Same size 5000Mah batteries but different C ratings and drag test them.

    It’s not really so much that higher c rating means higher speed. But if you aren’t using the minimal required c rating, then you won’t get the stated speed on the box. The required c rating for the Vorteks is 50C. So by using 30C, the motor won’t deliver. Also, on the box, it says that the 60+mph can only be achieved with the speed gear under optimal conditions. Remember… The motor can only pull what the battery can deliver.

  • @matth9359

    I think the c rating has to do with battery internal resistance and wouldn't think it would make a difference unless there is an actual bottleneck in there. I imagine it could be measured, new batteries, same brand, different c, if you wanted to be really accurate. If the motor draws 30a, the esc can easily deliver that, and 50 c rating consistently can deliver same current up to 40a, going to a 100c wouldn't do anything.

      @@firemyster4707 because in the r&d they test the stock tires and know they will balloon past a certain speed which will increase their diameter to give them higher top speed they are looking for to market on the box
      When you switch to foam or belted you lose some top end, but you gain a lot more control and consistency/traction

    Yeah DuraTrac is junk, if you're not blowing out tires then they're warped right out the package. I mean stuff happens but since they were open they won't take them back. Yeah I'm more of a Pro-Line tires or even RC four-wheel drive. That is crazy though ripped it apart great video everyone have a great day and don't let off the throttle... oh yeah

    So, I give it to you that it didn't hit the 55 that I expected to see with the 17 tooth pinion, but it was a HELL of a lot closer than when it was on grass. Just saying, I've seen videos where it has hit 55 with 17 tooth and 60 with 21 tooth (Tomley RC for one). Too bad about that tire though, that's crazy for a belted tire to rip like that!

      It says 60 on the box. The pinion helps get to 60 and it comes with the truck. So technically it can go that fast out of the box. Just gotta use what’s in the box

    We’re I noticed the difference was on my RC boats. The lower “c” rated batteries were getting way too hot. I bought higher “c” rating and everything stayed much cooler. The “c” rating is the discharge rating. You might need a higher “c” rating if you notice that the motor isn’t able to get the power it needs (wires and batteries getting too hot). Of course you also need to make sure the ESC is outputting enough amps, your wiring is sufficient and your not over geared. BTW, I snagged a 100c 8000mah Zeee Lipo on prime day for only $26! I tried to buy more but it said “unavailable”.
