I think I like Uranium Suite better as a song to listen to on its own, but Fall Fair Suite is a better introduction to the characters and musical. They’re both amazing songs though!!
I agree with this
Agreed
100%
I love both of them, Uranium has a more narrative feel and Fall Fair is more character-focused
This is so real
I LOVE THE MUSICAL FORESHADOWING OF JANE DOE'S THEME
I heard the ballad of Jane doe before this song on shuffle and it sounded slightly off and I was confused
can you kindly elaborate
@@twiceornone8391 the scale that the kids sing on "ah" underneath the Karnak narration is the same as Jane Doe's scale in The Ballad of Jane Doe
I think it's more likely the reverse - that melody is the leitmotif of the accident. All Jane knows about her past is the accident, which is probably why her song calls back to this melody - she repeats the leitmotif of the accident in her song while singing about the loss of her identity.
I think the ahh’s depict her screams while the children were close to death Jane was still falling and that was her scream
The whispering of “did we finally leave our town?” Seems like they’re kinda excited by the thought that the might’ve left. Like “oh…we made it out?”
ive always interpreted it as like. kind of a sick irony statement, maybe even by karnak somehow. a lot of karnaks point is that the kids should have appreciated their lives more so its kind of like "yeahh your town sucks so much and oh look your out!! is this so much better? being dead? yeahh."
3:07
I actually would have liked if they added this part in “Fall Suite” especially the, “we will never leave this town alive” and the, “did we finally leave our town”
SAME… THATS THE EDITION I WANT, FAPL FAIR SUITE WITH PAST 3:06
@@Staryx- YESSS like instead of the "when the fall fair comes to toooooown" the choir singind the uranium song, then the "something doesn´t feel quite right" until the 03:06, this would be the perfect intro!
@@ggiantsintheskyy5670 FRRRR I WOUOD GO CRAZY /pos
I also wish they'd included Ocean's solo ("had a strange feeling from the start...") somehow or something like it because all the other versions have Ocean being the only one to notice the cart breaking and knowing that she was going to die and it makes me so sad and I love it
YES THAT IS MY FAVORITE PART OF THIS SONG
I love how during the fortune tellers speech, you can hear the gears cranking as the kids are lurched up the hill, nearing the drop that leads to them hurdling off. It's so suspenful
I love how you hear the voices of potential casualties. During Karnak's monologue, you can hear a dad say "you want to ride it again?" And a little boy cheer, meaninh that they were either casualties or witnesses to the accident. It's so sad
Luckily they prolly didn't die, as the rollercoaster was already going when they said rhat
What timestamp is that at?

WE MAKIN IT OFF THE CYCLONE WITH THIS ONE 🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥
LMAO

WE DYING ON THE CYCLONE WITH THIS ONE!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
WE'RE READING OUR FORTUNE WITH THIS ONE 🗣️‼️
The uranium suite is so happy on the surface yet so dark, it’s gotta be one of my favorites in the musical. The underlying messages and creepiness are so beautiful.
YES
Someone had a theory that you hear Jane’s voice (and foreshadowing of her ballad w the falling vocalisation) after the others because the others fell first, dying on impact while she was still falling in the back which is why it’s delayed
I love that theory! I've also always thought it was partly because a decapitated head is still conscious for a few seconds so while the others were already dead she might have still been concious for a few seconds
@@trinket_loveryeah i think something similar, on a slime tutorial of rtc someone in the comments goes into detail about the fact that at one of the scenes in the very start when it shows them in the cyclone in one of the frames you can see what looks like to be Penny sitting beside Ricky in the back of the cart, but you don’t see her in the next frame so they said she might’ve already been thrown off at that point and then been ran over and of course what you mentioned about the head still functioning for a few seconds and plus the fact that i’m pretty sure your hearing is your last sense you lose which could explain how Penny talks about hearing screams or something in her Ballad.
sorry i just realised how long that was 😅
Except that doesn't work if you view them having died after they sing the Fall Fair Suite. Because Jane is literally the first character seen and she's already headless. So, unless the very beginning of the show takes place after, Jane was dead first.
@@englishatheartthat’s probably just a narrative resource. At that moment the accident had not occurred
Jane singing in the start it’s just foreshadowing
[THE URANIUM SUITE LYRICS]
Uranium!
Uranium!
That’s our town, our friendly town
Uranium
Uranium
That’s our town, our highway town
The sky is almost blue here
Grain elevators too here
The pride and joy of sweet saskatchewan
We came here for the half-life
Stayed here for our whole life
To give the whole wide world plutonium
Uranium
Uranium
That’s our town, our friendly town
Oh no no
We will never leave this town at all
(Spoken)
And my part in the story... I read all of the children’s fortunes... I felt their hopes, thoughs, dreams, knowing they would board the doomed roller coaster and could tell them nothing.
I even suggested they ride the Cyclone. On Monday, September 14th, they would board the Cyclone roller coaster at 6:17pm
At 6:19 this same roller coaster’s front axle would break causing it to derail at the apex of the loop-de-loop, hurtling the children to their deaths.
And then you’re sailing through space
You don’t know up from down
And you feel a little strange
From all that spinning ‘round
And everything you loved
And everything you dreamed
And everything you feared
And everything that seemed so
Oh so terrifying
It’s far behind on the ground
Like our far from the city
Little itty bitty pretty hometown
Just a teeny tiny dot, on a wee blue ball
And we’ve all been spinning...
All been spinning
Round ‘n Round ‘n Round ‘n Round
‘n Round ‘n Round ‘n Round ‘n Round
‘n Round ‘n Round ‘n Round ‘n Round ‘n, woo!
Ura-
Nium
Ura-
Nium
The smart ones all
Packed up
And went why stay
If you can’t pay the rent
We will never leave this town at all
Drink some brew, join the choir
Build yourself a funeral pyre
Uranium our dead in dive
We’ll never leave this town alive
No we will never leave this town at all!
Greetings children, its time to play!
Earth is sky and sky is ground
Did we finally leave our town?
When the guys sing "uranium" at the end the girls sing:
Empty streets of empty shops
Shuttered rows of mom and pops
Bow down to the mega shopping mall
I love you I've been looking for the lyrics for the boys parts for so long
I can't decide which version of Karnak's voice I like better: This version or the original version. The original version sounds a lot more snarky and sarcastic, which adds to the humor, but this version sounds more creepy and eerie.
Edit: Just read through the replies, when I said "original" I meant the stage version of the performance on youtube, I should've been more clear about that.
This was the original voice of Karnak. He was in the 2011-2013 version. Well maybe not original original but still.
I've reflected a bit on this too(this versus the Karnak of the most widely available recording)! I basically came to the conclusion that they both have the essential parts of the ideal Karnak, just in the different measures. Really when you get down to it, doing Karnak justice is a balancing act between two essential sides: the somewhat detached but benevolent god-like presence and the snarky father-like figure.
Because on one hand: he's seen the lives of thousands of human beings, he's all-knowing and knew from the beginning exactly how things were going to play out. These kids are a drop in a bucket, his one last show before his own demise. It makes sense that he'd regard them as basically a cute little source of amusement. On the other hand: he chose to give these children the chance at this gift. He wasn't able to save them and the way he talks about it suggests he wishes he could've. He understands that they're individuals and, more importantly, children that didn't deserve to have their lives cut short. In a sense, he's acting as their guardian during this experience and it's a role he takes on with the tone of a tired and heavily sardonic dad who is at least going to enjoy mocking and embarrassing the kids while he's stuck watching them.
The Karnak of the album leans toward the first side, the one in the stage recording leans toward the latter. So, basically, it's a tough call who I like better! I have a soft spot for the stage recording one, but that has a lot to do with having a soft spot for that side of the character more than thinking it's objectively better.
@@descalante64 no it isn’t, the voice of karnak on the cast recording is actually Jacob Richmond! He wrote the show :)
@@uhohitspriscilla Yes it is. It's the same voice.
@@descalante64 no the original Karnak is Alex waslenko, then it was Carey wass, then it was Karl Hamilton. Jacob Richmond never played Karnak in a production, but he plays him on the cast recording
I'm sorry but I love how for some parts of this song you can hear a rollercoaster going up a lift hill making that little clicky sound it just crunches my brain so good
Same I thought I was the only one
“did we finally leave our town?” CHILLSSSSSSSS
Constance saying at 0:38 "we stayed here for our whole life" makes me so sad because at this point she was still upset about her life and how she would die never having left uranium
I do like this version because it puts more emphasis on the small town part of the story, which in the fall fair suite version is only mentioned a little bit in the opening and then again in constance's monologue. Im from a small town and the repeated "we'll never leave this town at all" right from the start hits really hard. But also i like fall fair suite better musically
I personally think that tragic fact was better for the small town part, Gave more emotion and emphasis on it.
I personally think Fall Fair suit is better because this is a character based musical and this just doesn't focus on that is much
Also just like, the first few seconds of Fall Fair are unlistenably saccharine. This doesn't have quite the same level of forced chipper energy.
I just noticed but in the fall fair and uranium suite you can actually hear Jane singing. When the whole chiot is singing you can clearly hear three female voices! Ocean, the one happy girl, and jane,
THE ONE HAPPY GIRL 💀💀💀 , you mean the nicest girl in town
Help, the one happy girl💀💀 her name is Constance 💀💀
She’s not that forgettable 💀

What i find fascinating is that this soundtrack being released when it is is no misnomer.
See, in the show, the children die on a monday, september 14th. The show came out in 2009 which meant that would plausibly happen during that year as september 14th occurred on a monday.
September 14th lands on a monday again in 2015 and, you guessed it, 2021 ;)
Please if you figure out the year this takes place in please let me know

@@finleyforevermore really? i thought he did it like right after they died. (!!SORRY THAT I'M REPLYING TO THIS SEVEN MONTHS LATE!!)
@@xoxoashzyNo actually! The script says Karnak is telling the story and holding the competition about 2 decades (or 20 years) in the future (which would be 2042 I believe, since the accident currently takes place in 2022). But the McCarter production mentions COVID so it's possible that production has the action of the show take place in 2020-2022. (THAT'S OK, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!!)
This song has changed so much from its original version. I’m torn on which I like better, the older one for the nostalgia and very carnival vibe or these interesting new lyrics
They’re both great
in my opinion, fall fair suite solos
@@chloq_ I like this song, but the mini solo’s of Fall Fair Suit (minus Oceans at the end) as well as Jane’s parts in the song were fire.

What I personally love about The Uranium Suite 2021 is how it includes all other opening themes of Ride the Cyclone into one song. There's the original The Uranium Suite at the beginning, with several lines referencing Tragic Fact ("The smart ones all packed up and went // Why stay if you can't pay the rent? // We will never leave this town at all" and "Drink some brew // Join the choir // Build yourself a funeral pyre"). The "Sailing Through Space" from Waiting for the Drop is also included, alongside the bit where Ricky joins in with "All been spinning" and refernces to sky and ground from Fair Fall Suite. The melody from the girl/boy split lyrics is also taken from Waiting / Fair Fall.
Overall while I still think all have great moments on their own (Tragic Fact describing Uranium's tragic fate; Waiting for the Drop's more chaotic lyrics describing the carnival mood and Fair Fall Suite having mini retrospects into each character (sans Ricky and Jane) and how they're feeling), The Uranium Suite 2021 is probably gonna be the most condensed version we're gonna see of an opening to Ride the Cyclone. And I don't mind. It's incredibly catchy. Sorry if I missed out any versions of the opening track, and for the lyrics I mostly just use Genius (and my ears for Tragic Fact, so sorry for any errors there).
I'm pretty sure the sailing through spaces in every single opening I have yet to see one where there isn't that
I love Ocean’s vibrato at 0:45!
3:08 HAS THE SAME CHORD PROGRESSION AS THE SAME SECTION IN WAITING FOR THE DROP
Are you talking about the part of
BOYS:
And every kind of music, blasts in my ears!
GIRLS:
All those colored lights!
Oh oh oh!
Have you ever had the song match up with end of this one? Just have WFTD on another tab and then make it a little fast so it is in time with this. I start at the "Spinning round n round . . ." part then switch it to "Life was about to start!" because to make it a little short, but you can start with "Every kind of music . . ." With this "Round n round" because it's more long.
Also it sounds cool with the
No we will never
(Oh, we're never going back)
Leave
(Are ever)
This
(Ever)
Town
(Going)
At
All!
(Back!)

OMG the end hits different
I like to think at 2:11 that theres a scene where they're on the rollecoaster and just as the front axle breaks this part comes on and everything slows down and at every time Jane's face is covered.
I saw a drawing like that, they used one of the boys' heads to cover her face!
I like both Fall Fair Suite and The Uranium Suite for different reasons, but I like the first one better because of the emphasis on the carnival theme and Jane's vocals in the transitions. I think they should have recorded Fall Fair Suite, at least as a bonus track in the cast recording like they added A World Inside.
What I’ve noticed abt fall fair and uranium is that uranium talks less about the accident and the children knowing that the accident happened and they’re talking more about their town and how they can never leave (of course they start talking about it at the end with the “shattered rows of mom and pops” but they talked about it less while in Fall fair it’s more about the kids realizing what happened and are like, what now? They’re mad they died “what a load of fricking junk that crusty carny clearly drunk” “sue that fair for everything they got” plus it has more hints of Jane but overall both songs amazing just fall fair is more diverse
I prefer fall fair suite, it sounds better and i love the way they handle the crash. But, karnaks section in this is so eerie and i love it, i wish his part was in fall fair because it would be so perfect
The harmonies In RTC are INSANE
I mean it is supposed to be a chior

The way ocean sings uranium tickles my brain
Look, I love Fall Fair Suite but this song and its ending just hits me so hard
Ugh, fall fair suite was my favorite opening. I thought it went through all the tones and emotions that were meant to be in the opening.
I've waited for YEARS for this album im so excited
I actually got to see a small theater company in my state do this show the other day, and they were PHENOMENAL!! Something cool they did was that while they sang the line 'Everything you dreamed' they also did it in SIGN LANGUAGE as part of the choreography!! It was a small part, but it was really neat!
I like how in Uranium Karnak describes exactly what's happening. Time stamped and everything. Very true-crime "this horrible thing has happened and it could have happened to you". Then they go up, have a moment of weightlessness, then come back down and accelerate into a tempo change and in a minor key as they fall.
"This fall unfair the ride goes where? Ah!" is some nice wordplay but they die in the space of a single line and then they hit the ground, get back up, and a few lines later Noel's already pointing out "welp nothing we can do now". Really sucks the tesnion out of it all.
I’ve been waiting a decade for this album! So happy to finally hear these songs again - although the changes to this song break my heart a little 🥲
Good song, though I much prefer the eerie, catchier, more character-focused Fall Fair Suite (though I admit the end of that song is a bit weak and would probably do better combined with the end from this one). The bit mimicking the broken record is especially creepy and impressive. My favorite bit below-
OCEAN: "What a piece of freaking junk!
The crusty carnie, clearly drunk!
Sue the place for everything they've got!"
NOEL: "What's even the point of suing?
Dead, we're done, there's no undoing
Nothing left to do except to rot!"
MISCHA: "Sex! Oh god, why did I wait?"
OCEAN: "Now we'll never graduate!"
CONSTANCE: "I hope I wiped my browser hist'ry clean!"
ALL: "Why'd I even go to class?
Algebra 12, kiss my ass!"
MISCHA: "Now I know what YOLO really means!"
I might just be hearing things, but I think the melody for the section you quote here from Fall Fair Suite is either the same or very similar to the melody near the end of this version! (either way they are *very* different tonally and in terms of orchestrations, which makes it hard to tell)
honestly uranium suite is not as bad as people make it out to be! it definitely does a better job than the more popular fall fair in establishing the backdrop of the town, while trying to keep true to the other original openings (waiting for drop, tragic fact).
personally i think i need to hear it live to warm up to it; studio recordings for newer musicals feel too polished to an uncanny degree haha
edit: found a live version, and it was fun! fall fair still holds a strong spot in my heart but uranium suite is slowly growing on me :)
I just don't think we need the backdrop of the town as much as we need the character moments that are Fall Fair suit
@@heavenedvoice yeah! You could even get some of Ocean and Noel's dynamic in it!

I've waited for this album for about a decade. It was worth it. :-)
this sounds so much like the opening to a multipisode series and it makes me so happy. not my favorite opening of them all but still really good
Omg that’s what I thought!! There should be a TV series that chronicles the St Cassian Choir in the afterlife, and part of Waiting For The Drop/Uranium Suite/Tragic Fact should be the theme song!!
I love the choir warmups as background vocals
After listening to the song multiple times I realized that the Ahs in the song while Karnak is talking about the accident at 6:19pm the last set of ahs is supposed to represent their screams. In only guessing this so If anyone knows another idea of what it could be I would love to hear it! :)

So underrated tbh
For any music theory girlies who need memory devices for intervals; the first “Uranium” starts with a Major 6th!
Me practicing songs for a musical I’ll probably never be in:
There isn’t a bad song on this soundtrack
Even the satirical bad songs like This Song is Awesome still end up being bangers
@@creativeusernamehere6854aUtOtEeEwN iS aWeSoMe
Omg this is amazing
Love this musical tbh
I love this so much
it's always fun trying to spot jane doe's backing vocals during the openings, and it's especially clearer here in the official release :D!
Call me crazy but I like this one better than Fall Fair Suite
In my day this was the kind of show that lived its life in a basement in the Village.
Wow this song is so good!
3:44 This part’s soo good
I like both Fall Fair Suite and Uranium Suite but I think fall fair is a better intro because it actually emphasizes the scariness of the ride breaking down, and it introduces how the characters are like by their solos in the song. This song however it explains that they won’t leave the town at all and not much of the accident. But i like both tbh.
WE ARE GETTING OUR HEAD BACK WITH THIS ONE
i love uranium!!!!!!
This tbh reminds of hairspray.
1:16 I thought he didn’t read penny’s fortune?
Since Penny was a "mystery guest" he could mean he read everyone else's.
jane doe wasn't revealed to the audience until after this song, so it wouldn't make sense for him to say otherwise
Wait…. So If he read their fortunes but couldn’t tell them anything about the fact that they were about to die what DID he tell them?
The same thing he was forced to tell everyone: "Your lucky number is 8. Ride the Cyclone."
Read basic general fortunes like “your lucky number is blah blah” “you will soar to great heights” “ *be sure to ride the cyclone* ”
You're lucky number is 7, you will soar to great heights, Ride The Cyclone
@@Starrrycandy well… he didn’t lie
He told them instead: "Your lucky number is 7. You will soar to great heights. Be sure to *ride the cyclone."*

In my part in the story
(La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la)
I read all the children's fortunes
(La-la-la-la-la)
I felt their hopes, thoughts, dreams
(La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la)
Knowing they would board the doomed rollercoaster
(La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la)
And could tell them nothing (la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la)
(La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la)
I even suggested that they ride the Cyclone (la-la-la-la-la)
On Monday, September, 14th
Thеy would board the Cyclone rollercoastеr at 6:17 p.m
At 6:19, the same rollercoaster's front axle would break (la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la)
Causing it to derail at the apex of the loop-de-loop
Hurtling the children to their deaths
Aah!
And then you're sailing through space
You don't know up from down
And you feel a little strange
From all that spinning 'round
And everything you loved
And everything you dreamed
And everything you feared
And everything that seems so, oh, so terrifying
It's far behind on the ground
Like our far-from-the-city-little-itty-bitty-pretty hometown
Just a teeny, tiny dot on a wee blue ball
And we've all been spinning (all been spinning)
Round and round and round
And round and round
Round and round
And round and round and round
And round and round
Empty streets of empty shops (Uranium)
Shuttered rows of mom and pops (Uranium)
Bow down to the mega shopping mall
The smart ones all packed up and went (Uranium)
Why stay if you can't pay the rent? (Uranium)
