The focus on user generated content/mods, plus the continual layoffs, makes me feel like we're going to end up with bare bones games; let users and modders add assets and fix the bugs; and then grab that user generated content, whirl it around with a little A.I. and resell it as new without ever having to pay any workers. Not a good direction, in my opinion. 😞 Thank you for an interesting video!
I don't think they mean let modders/ cc creators do everything. Though the opinion of what's making modders/ cc creators do all the work is broad. At this point though unless EA releases a flawless perfect game that results in people who mod or make CC thinking no need to, the EA has failed.
Definitely understand those feelings, and thank you.
I don't think some focus on user generated content is a black and white thing- I actually think there are many positives that can come from it. For example, if it meant spotlighting more creators, more collabs, improving sharing, and even having fun contests, I'm all for it.
Of course, I am also of the strong opinion too that a game should never rely too much on UGC (unless it's a platform) and be strong on its own right too
In other words, I don't think the focuses are opposed- or they do not have to be, in concept
@@SimmerErin The modding/CC community is something I've always loved about the Sims, all the way from the original game (although I remember that being mostly CC but I may just not have been aware). The talent of creators of mods such as MC command centre and Relationship and Pregnancy Overhaul is amazing, especially as these are free to access. The problem comes when the game developer takes advantage of modders to provide bug fixes and/or overreliance on them for good content/ideas. Ultimately I believe CC and mods should be an optional addition, and not a necessity to enjoy a game. It is subjective but I do think EA is taking advantage of the modders/cc creators and have done for a while.
Yeah, The Sims is going to continue to grow in entertainment. Especially with the Margot Robbie film in the works, it'll be interesting to see how that gets monetized, what kinds of toys and figures we will see, clothing brand collaborations etc. That very well may shift the vibe of the next The Sims title.
yes, that is true, there is a a movie coming out (which I have zero excitement for) so they could indeed push more products from that alone, and there is the merch store too. reception will be interesting
@@SimmerErin Yeah I won't lie, I'm not enthusiastic about the movie either 😅
@@NoDecaf7 I figured as much 😆
I do hope for bug fixes. Also EA won't stop selling the sims until it starts to become a drain on them financially.
most certainly. they will continue to release content so long as it is making what they want it to. And even if it starts to lag it'll be a while before they gave up on a long lived franchise that is Multiplatform
When they said the word "leverage" in the same sentence as "user generated content", my first thought was "NO!!!" Just the fact that they mentioned UGC twice in one simple paragraph means they're setting their sights on creators as a new, cheap source of profits.
Yup. That's why I always tell simmers and creators (whether the creator is an individual, small group, or entire development studio) to avoid EA and the EA creator network like the plague! EA is KNOWN for destroying creators, all creators from individuals to groups. Don't associate with them, EVER! Your independence is everything!
one thing to keep in mind is that a lot of this is PR speak, presented to stakeholders, hence some of the cringey language
I actually think UGC in of itself can be verypositive, but should it be leaned on or relied on for your base? of course not
@@SimmerErin I understand this is PR speak, presented to stakeholders, to paint them in the best possible light. "Look, we're selling lots of stuff! We have an engaged community of players! We're the best, you must be thrilled you invested in us!"
Maybe he was just innocently making the point that we're a thriving community. That last sentence could've been about how they're doing more partnerships with creators. However, I do not have as generous a view regarding EA that that's all this was.
UGC _is_ positive - of course it is. I never argued it wasn't. It's been a staple of the Sims series since 2000. My point is more about how, for example, Will Wright was emphatic from the beginning that it shouldn't be charged for, precisely because he knew they'd wanna charge for it. So when I see a CEO bring UGC to the table as a positive point of the game? Twice? It's on their minds to find more ways to make money off creators now.
It's cheap labor to have creators design kits and do builds. But as far as the community goes? It's the cheapest labor there is - free.
Well the game is FREE to download and play so OF COURSE THE NUMBERS ARE HIGH. But the better question will be, how many players actually play the game after they get it for free? The new TS5 is going to be FREE TO DOWNLOAD, therefore it will have a huge number that will probably surpass TS4 because its getting hype at the start as free unlike TS4. People may dl but how many will actually become "players." Just because you download something doesn't mean you play it. 🤔 Fake it till you make it in a society that has FOMO.
Just said the same thing myself and it's why I wouldn't trust their numbers. As you correctly say, downloads and installs do not equal people playing.
I think they detect who's actually playing the game. Earnings are still good. Thanks for pointing out another way people will argue ts5 failed, Sims franchise is dead. Plus if people are going to decide the numbers are reported higher than they are. I think this is another bias thing. If you want EA to lose a big money maker, you'll argue numbers are exaggerated.
Yup, and I'm betting they don't want to show the detailed numbers of people like me who have the game but haven't played it in years because it's shit. They actually have the data for people like me who dumped the Sims 4 and came back to TS3, but we won't have access to it. I'm sure it would be very telling, because I might count right now in their database as "Sims 4 player" just because I own a game I haven't touched in years...
yes, I mentioned that: even free to enter games of course can have not huge #s but it's also not impressive as they make it sound.
What I want to look Into is regular, active players
Erin, your analysis is accurate. EA has a fixation on online services. The thing is its like comparing apples and oranges. Online services like "free to play" and add-up big in weekly individual item level purchases. Let's say you buy a budgeted total of $5.00 in items weakly (decor, clothes, etc.). Not much right? We can see that it would be around $260.00 a year. (but in RL I suspect most players spend about 100.00 yearly in purchases)
in Sims 4, we buy in themed collections. So you spent $169.88 prior to taxes in 2023, if you bought them all. Here's the break down:
***Now in The Sims 4 there were 3 "new" EP in 2023: Growing Together March 2023, Horse Ranch July 2023, For Rent at $39.99 for at release - Totaling 119.97 .
***No game pack in 2023.
***One stuff pack, Home Chef Hustle Stuff September 2023 - $9.99 .
***As for kits, 8 were released in 2023 at $4.99 - totaling $39.92.
EA would be salivating with the potential allure of item level purchases (decor, clothes, etc.), coming with Cloud based Project Renee. We may even need to rent land property spaces to build, if we leave the apartment that the Cloud base Renee will probably give you as a starter home. And remember we'll own nothing but the license to use purchases stored online, just like in 2nd Life.
I think tbh a lot of companies, not just EA- are very focused on live services. From reports I've seen, that's a trend.. and admittedly, EA does make the bulk of its revenue from them (though kinda a chicken vs egg situation)
So, I have to say.. It's not at all EA specific, and I think it's interesting to consider in light of AAA games in general, and what we may see in the future
However, I also interestingly see intersections with other industries- like streaming. There's starting to be some pushback against streaming services and people wanting to own more things vs streaming, or just not wanting to divide money across subscriptions. So I see some intersections there, too
@@SimmerErin You are so right. It's a financial drain with subscriptions. That's why I was so warry with LBY's anything goes mod monetary policy. As it is, I spend about 20.00 monthly on support for mod creators. A lot of money for a game so bugged. So I'm very warry as to what's coming. Back in the Day, it's nothing like 2nd life where a monthly bill could be $80.00 plus (RL money) for just renting a property to build and use. Purchasing everything else like clothes and paying for group activities add up separately in big money at a tune of over $100.00 easily in RL money.
If my simsnon console could have eyelashes from creator that works with ea id be happy.i own all the packs for for console not p.c and I love my mods but I notice I dnt really use them as much as I though i would.i wish console sims could use curseforge mods kinda like how skyrim has mods on console
it's like looking in a mirror. mods are cool and all but they rarely add gameplay. i have so much fun on console but it's soooo stale
@@ctalina ya,I tend to just really like cas on p.c,I just didn't have a p.c at the time when I bought all the packs.now I started again on p.c but I have only been buying them on sale lol I am not spending 1000 buxs again smh no mam lol I I also love the skin and hair.im mixed raced and I need the mods to make my sim self
@@holy9781 oh my gosh! what's your name on the gallery? i'm mixed too
Thanks for wading through all that corporate babble so we don't have to! As for layoffs, we should expect this to continue as AI takes over more and more of the non-strategic work. I still think there is a fairly high likelihood that EA will just continue to mercilessly milk their monopoly while it lasts, and then pull out if InZoi is successful. But until we know the financing model of InZoi, this is hard to predict, both for us and for EA. No wonder Krafton has been holding their cards close to their chest.
ha I actually oddly enjoy it. I like thinking of it as a challenge.
Sadly, yes, I think layoffs will continue, frightening as it is, and it isn't just EA. I read an article about the tech layoffs for 2024 so far and the extent is astonishing
This is what people have been arguing about but are told they're just old farts scared of change. These people won't admit the old farts right either. They'll find something else to complain about the massive layoffs and AI replacing people.
So they do not want to release new roadmap? I'd like to know somthing more clarified what's coming next
I suspect it'll come after the sale ends
Oh yeah I didn't realize how late they are posting the next one. I kinda say good if they're not doing roadmaps. It's just another way for the community to assume the garbage we'll get and for the next three months rather than 2-6 weeks when the announcement of the new DLC drops.
...waiting for the Bug as a Feature Expansion Pack. 😆
I thought that was High School Years. T-posing as a challenge and aspiration was a bug in Get to Work, but I get your joke.
@@evennotodd we know how much Sims 4 likes to recycle ideas
I'd say For Rent and MWS has us covered
Regarding players playing for less time: I think buggy games is pervasive in so many right now. Go onto any game forum and they echo a lot of the same complaints we in the sim community express. Why spend your hard-earned cash on something half-baked? Plus people are working more to cover rising costs. However, I think if the right game comes out that feels complete without DLC you could see a HUGE number of people playing.
One thing I've seen from the major gaming companies is that they're dropping their smaller games (and the subsidiaries that make them) and going with just their major titles. I suspect EA is going to do the same, keeping only the Sims Franchise and their EA Sports franchises. As you have mentioned, I wish that they'd concentrate on *quality* if they're going to be cutting their quantity of games, so that game testing and quality assurance are beefed up (rather than the cuts we've seen.) It would mean happier players and that translates into more people buying content. Yes, some people buy the content no matter what, but others don't bother because they don't feel it's worth buying more. Even with our end-stage capitalism, you'd think they'd realize that.
absolutely. and that was what I was trying to get at- it's majority of well known AAA and even AA companies- at very least many of them - banking on known franchises and dropping smaller or new titles that they may feel pose 'more risk;
geeze this game is still alive? huh
obviously, yes.

I wonder what kind of updates we will be getting. I hope there are loads of bug fixes
It's hard to say what they even mean here by content updates
I do know a guru promised more bug fixes are on the way
The Sims will always carry its legacy, so it's always going to make money. 25 years and the numbers are amazing for being at the head of the table of life simulation games. Ea/Maxis are going to take a hit, because every business does when other businesses come in to play. It is what it is Ea/Maxis will have a seat at the table, but they won't be at the head of the table. The landscape of the life simulation games is evolving for all to share!
that would be great, really- all I want to see is more choices, and improvements overall. I do think sims has something special, even with the flaws many have noted. It has its history, its lore, its blend of whimsy and realism
I wouldn't say share while people are arguing down with EW! Goodbye Sims franchise. Take them down. Seriously people have been giving me the impression that competition doesn't mean as with other game genres, no they mean literally someone to make EA lose their money maker and slowly crumble as a company. I guess it's been reported Sims gives EA the most money. People are expecting EA to say they're taking a hit because BG is free so we should assume the report is a lie. 🤦♀️ So when Project Rene is out, ugh. We're going to see the toxic Sims community become the toxic Life Simulation game community. I do think the report is about active players rather than the numbe of EA accounts with Sims BG installed. Plus earnings are doing well but that's just my opinion. While others choose to say EA is publicly lying.
I am concerned that more games are going to live services. To be honest I could argue both sides. My concern is what happens when and if people wake up on how much DLCS are costing them.
I believe part of this is inflation. In the future there will be less people working for gaming studios in couple years. History is bound to repeat. Bad games getting released. Nintendo did save the gaming industry in the past. Maybe Nintendo will save the gaming industry again.
I was thinking about this the other day when the reports came out that a successor to the Switch was coming end of year or early next year. I thought "huh, if they could be powerful to play some of these simulation games they could really take over the market.
Live services and the pros and cons.. is honestly such an interesting topic. On one hand, you can update and add content and such, and that has benefits. On the other, many argue that live service models makes it feel more "acceptable" to launch games not fully ready and with more deficits
@@SimmerErin I will take quality over quantity any day. That's why I see live service games as just a symptom of the disastrous economic system we are living under. They being said, live service can be good for games like Valorant, where it makes sense (you need enough people to play at the same time for the game to be playable). Not the Sims, though.
@@oceanegougeon3025 it's all to do with execution, I think. In that: live services are not inherently good or bad, but they can be not properly managed
15 more updates i.e. 15 more times the game will break
I don't actually know what it means. It's called content updates. It could mean a mix of paid content, sdx, and more
and we do need updates regardless, because you can't have bug fixes at all without any updates
Honestly at this point I'm just not going to let my Sims update every single time they have some kind of fix it messes up my Sims game I don't need all the free stuff that they're giving us because my mod files are better than that stuff anyway
you can turn updates off if you want
⭐️
Yknow what update I desperately want? An update to the gallerys filter system. Its functionally completely useless.
absolutely. that would be probably number one thing to tweak
I just hope they will fix the game, I can’t even play it anymore, I paid 1K+ for the sims content and I got only bugs and nothing else, while I paid €83 for sims 3 with ALL. Dlcs for sims 3, and it doesn’t lag it doesn’t crash and it has more content and more gameplay….
fix what in particular/ crashes are serious for sure- are you on console?
Yes they need to make the game more stable especially on consoles but on pc as well especially the lag and crashes.
@@SimmerErin on pc! And when I say fix the game is basically so the autonomy of the sims, crashes, bugs and many other things that makes the game unplayable.
@@AleksxEdits I feel this. I don't have problems with crashes, but playing with infant/toddler sims makes me want to turn off free will. The only way I can get parents to do anything is to play as the toddlers and ask for stuff
@@AleksxEdits when are you experiencing crashes?

it really does need at least some adjustments. gallery in concept is great, but there's a lot that isn't working as it should
Great deep dive, Erin. Great detective work! I really believe that when they have their 25th anniversary they are gearing up for something big. They need to - the competition is fierce.
thanks! I actually find it quite fun to connect different bits of news together
it certainly will be interesting to see if anything happens for the anniversary
I have some thoughts as to whether the competition poses a threat, but I will prob try to gather my thoughts to fully explain my perspective
@@SimmerErin competition won't really be a threat but it will put them on their toes. It could be a threat if they continue with the number of issues that they have, or if Project Rene was to bomb out next year.
No. The Sims veterans are not sharing the same energy as GEN-Z, Free Play SIms or any "modern" sims players. I dont know where they fell out of the bus with the Sims 4, but it seriously has been milked to the edge where it shouldnt even be called the sims anymore. It has no relevance to the original 3 games. Its just a content pushing play doll fiasco. The EA sims studio updates are also really cringe to the point where old sims players are just downright ignored. Project Rene wants to re-birth the sims because they know they veered off the track. Lets not pretend that the graphics, gameplay or engine, sims interactions, hair and everything else is not at all what it should have been. I feel like I wasted my whole childhood and money on this franchise only for it to become some cupcake factory, strawberry shortcake like game. Its basically farm ville right now. the 2009 version.
I'd recommend against lumping all of generation together, first of all. Gen Z covers ages 13-28 or so.That upper end has likely had the chance to play many sims games. On the opposite end, there are people of other generations just coming into sims. And being a veteran so to speak can influence perception, but it doesn't inherently lead to a set perception. All of these imo are pretty sweeping statements that don't represent nuance. Finally, while I agree sims 4 has less depth than other games, I don't agree there is no depth at all t it.
I do think it is possible rene is taking some critique into consideration and while I don't know where that lead, I feel that could be positive
@@SimmerErin Thanks Erin. I really am sorry for bashing your channel with my venting :( I hope you understand how I feel about something I really loved. The Gen Z was for attention :/ I am 28 also. I am really excited for Project Rene - and I really in my heart hope that it will be more welcoming to the players they have completely alienated like me, and many others alike.
@@amsterdamandco Oh, I didn't think you were bashing my channel at all! I saw nothing directed towards me (btw I'm a young millennial lol) and I didn't take it that way! I'm actually just a tad older than you. And it's totally OK to express how you feel, nor do we have to agree! If anything, I want this to be a space where people can disagree sometimes. I think the feeling of alienation is really valid, and something worth talking about. In fact, it's kinda of sparked something in me.. maybe surveying people about it. Marketing wise I have often felt alienated too.
15 updates would mean 15 SDX drops with just furniture or hair. I wouldn't be surprised EA actually meant that. We'll see about that in the next roadmap soon.
Plus 15 updates might also mean 15 really surface level fixes in a few months too. One way or another someone in the community will complain that the fixes aren't enough to fix their game.
yes, many assume 15 = 15 dlc... honestly? It's so vague it's impossible for me to understand what they mean. SDX? Full updates? Actually just paid content? Content update is such a weird phrase. Throw in that he said Sims Online and the whole thing is confusing
I played with My Wedding Stories for the first time yesterday. I've had it since it came out but just didn't have any weddings. Now I know how bad it really is. Many things were broken and not working at all. I honestly can't wait until Life By You comes and Paralives because I'm just tired of this game being so buggy and at times not working. I've given them so much of my hard earned money along with other players who have done the same. They should at least make sure the game works for us.
YEAH and it was even way worse when it first came out, MWS.
My sims game is actually pretty playable, issues here and there, but I do avoid MWS
Erin how do I turn off updates????? Please I need them to stop, they break my game 😢

@@jaydubb1629 Ah I don't know about steam, sry!
@@jaydubb1629 There is a way, even for Steam users, but it involves going down a slightly dodgy route (not illegal), so it's not for everyone and I don't want to post it here without Erin's permission.
In short, it involves swapping some official files for 'alternatives'.
It breaks my browser if I'm in-game when the updates kick in. I get a pop-up saying the EA app needs to be restarted but my browser refuses to load until I shut down and restart the whole system. The major issue with that is that it slows down to almost a dead stop, my browser takes up to 30 minutes to load just to log in and restart the EA app, which never closed properly when it kicked me out, it like having your key break off in the lock, frustrating. The last time it happened I was forced to delete and reinstall Windows and download all my apps from scratch.
Of course they're not going to kill Sims 4 before they have a replacement.
right, it wouldn't go with any gaming or business practices I've seen
I don't think it matters at this point. The arguments I've seen people make to say the Sims franchise is dead. To me it's half-ass comparing but I'm talking to people who's hope is to watch EA crumple so i shouldn't be surprised.
I'm sure you have your reasons but why are you always comparing the numbers to pandemic time numbers. Gaming as a whole exploded during the pandemic and now things are just falling back to their pre pandemic baselines. Not an accusation, truly curious but that is hard to get across in text.
I'm reading the numbers from the report- and what they themselves are reporting.
And it's not pandemic numbers, but ***pre pandemic ** as in 2019 numbers. Finally, I don't know what you mean by "always" I have presented data from a wide range of years, over videos.
@@SimmerErin Oh, I didn't hear or see anything about 2019, sorry. I was specifically referring to the drop in player hours at about the 6.30 mark you mention growth in gaming slowing. Every gaming industry thing I've read says that is because the pandemic caused an explosion in gaming and now numbers are going back down to pre pandemic range.
@@jsimlady yes, 2020 and into 2021 are years that were impacted by lockdowns and people staying home. It's good to look at those years to see what happened, but not so good for understanding overall trends for long term for companies

I think that'd be best as a spin off
I hope they fix the bug / glitches and refresh some older packs.
sadly full refreshes are not planned per a guru but hopefully there is still room for small improvements
15 updates equals a potential 15 more chances to break the game. How many will feature fixes? How many fixes outside of content?
Personally, I wouldn't believe their figures. That amount of user content may have been shared in the last year but how much of it was created in that year? The amount of players could also be misleading. Is that actually players, or users that have downloaded and installed the game once, irrespective of how much they've played. Far too many questions to trust what they say as they'll only ever show what they deem as positive.
And if it's not picking numbers? This is the problem, people who hate the game are expecting reports to say big drop in earnings and players playing the game. Show us the game is failing EA or it's a lie. It'll be the same for 5. Immediately assume lies and it's failing. Prob even the same for the earnings report rather than that's definitely a way to show people who downloaded the free BG stayed. Everyone must agree this is a lie, Sims is over. 🥱
glass half full, glass half empty. you also have to have updates to fix anything.
I also don't even know how one interprets "content updates" and what it includes.
I do believe the numbers are accurate. This is a financial report. They did not state the number of current active players, only how many have downloaded over time. This is not hard for me to believe
@@SimmerErin Maybe I misunderstood or misheard, I took it that they were classing those numbers essentially as active players? That's why I called it into question.
I've grown tired of TS4 that I have Extreme Violence mod cause havoc.
have you tried the life's drama mod? I had some fun with that one, albeit briefly lol
I think "content updates" would include both paid and free ones, but it's hard to tell. It's really interesting to follow these types of reports even though they are mostly big numbers and marketing for their shareholders.
I do hope they have some type of plan for stability and quality of The Sims 4, as they plan to support it for multiple more years, but it doesn't seem to have affected the financial side of things so I doubt it.
Maybe or we're actually getting a free update with stuff at least once a month with 3 months getting 2, but also I think people would be more livid how they say update but it's paid. Sadly I think there's nothing they can do but end 4 but Project Rene isn't close to being ready.
definitely, the wording is so vague I don't know how to interpret it. I always try to look at the reports, especially the remarks, While sure there is a lot of PR there can be some interesting insights into their overall strategy or thought process
@@SimmerErin oh absolutely, you just gotta read between the lines as you did in the video, and the numbers are obviously straight forward
@@AutobotSimmer that would be really cool, and I have noticed a lack of bigger BG updates in the last year, so maybe? But looking back it seems kind of unlikely.
Hopefully Rene will go better and release more complete out of the box.
@@kvisten335 I do think 4 has mistakes that caused a domino effect. Though I don't think any Sims game could last this long with how much that's added. So I'm on the unpopular side that I think EA has learned from mistakes and Rene will be better than 4. Now the issue will be people will decide not any better than the other three games coming so EA still fails. I'm hoping for a good mix of ts2-4 in Rene. That has many different combinations.
I do feel like if they create a lot more objects that are interactable with more animations, that'd be more valuable than kit-type packs. They should also hire someone who can do fashion, maybe even a board of fashion because they have less inspiration for outfits every year... They need ideas and inspo so bad.
I do feel we could branch out a lot more in terms of fashion.
I would LOVE for them to collab w/ Sentate..
@@SimmerErin Sentate has good taste.. (Just wish most modder's clothing sets weren't modular...)
As long as they are of quality I don't care if there are 2, 5, 10 or 20 updates. However, we are talking about EA that prefers to release quantity over quality.
I would prefer a year full of patches for TS4 rather than new packs, I want them to fix the game!, so that what we already have can work correctly.
Obviously a bug-free game is impossible but it cannot be that each new pack only works "25%" if we are lucky.
They have to invest more in Testing and QA!
it's hard to say what "content updates" mean. The language is very vague and could be interpreted myriad ways
Sims Free Play is a scam, you can't play unless you pay, and it's all in real time, no pausing and everything is on a clock, if you don't finish a mission you don't get the sweet upgrades, you have to pay for them. And they make it near impossible to finish a mission, a Race for example is a 24 hour mission against another player or the AI, you MUST be awake for the entire run and be ready to move onto the next phase the minute your Sims finish a task which could be anywhere from a couple of minutes to 6 hours in length. On top of that they keep forcing you to add more Sims so that you have to constantly switch between 20 or more in order to finish the multiple tasks on time. The worst one is when they force you, almost right from the start with the first 2 Sims, is to have a baby, and if you don't immediately get a nanny that baby is going to become your worst nightmare because you can't get the nanny until you complete whatever mission you're currently on, some of which can take days.
In short, don't play Sims Free Play unless you have lots of spare cash laying around, you'll be doing micro-transactions multiple times daily.
What an actual nightmare to read. They're making people become slaves to games. I hate capitalism so much, can't wait for people to wake up and demand we dismantle this shit.
Interesting because I see people saying free play is truly free vs Sims mobile. Yet my impression is it's the same just one is based on 3 while the other is based on 4. I think this is part of the community bias. If it's related to 3, it's fine. Related to 4 and it's trash.
I would say that's fairly typical for a game like that. I avoid any game based on such model
@@AutobotSimmer Up to that point I never played any Sims, I tried Sims In The City on my girlfriend's kid's console in the early 2000s so I had no Sims 3 vs Sims 4 bias, I actually didn't like Sims In The City.
You can play Free Play without cash but it's pointless if you don't take part in the daily events and the only way to get through most is microtransactions OR what I did, 2-3 hours daily of watching ads, you can make upwards of $100K Simoleons in 3 hours but you can't stop once you start, the Ads For Free Cash & XP only happens once every 24 hours at exactly the same time you started it the previous day, time it wisely. 3 hours is the maximum I ever went, it usually crashes long before that, 2 hours is what I aim for, roughly $75K and 100K XP. On top of that I barely got any sleep, had to wake up every couple hours to send my Sims on their next assignment or lose out on the next free giveaway items. The game keeps playing when you're logged out, real time vs real players 24/7. And if you accompany your Sims to work set aside about 6-7 hours of constant micromanaging, unless you have 2 Sims on the job, you can cut a shift down to 3-4 hours.
@@ll7868 Sorry I should have said in general. The community bias with ts2/3 vs 4 and the two mobile games.
I guess that explains why project rene is going to be available for mobile users. I had no idea that sims freeplay had a larger community than pc considering how much micro transactions there is.
they obviously want to get as many players as possible across platforms. I hope that mobile is just a small part of the game - like you can build but not play the full game
Great video! What do we think the breakdown will be? My understanding of "updates" are sellable packs (EP, GP, SP, Kits) -- and I am assuming this because this was communicated to shareholders and investors who wouldn't really be concerned with patches, etc.
Assuming the updates are for a full year, I would guess, at the minimum:
1. One EP per quarter (4 total, 11 "updates" remaining)
2. Four SP or GP total (7 "updates" remaining)
3. 6 kits (usually released in pairs)
4. One wild card!
@Simmer Erin, what do you think?
Well then nothing new. Nor is it nothing new if they mean 15 free updates and with free stuff because it's not 15 updates with bug fixes.
I don't know, because it says content updates, and the wording is really vague. SDX I think would still matter some to stakeholders if they feel it changes engagement numbers, too.
@@SimmerErin While it seems like a lot, when you consider that it's 15 updates divided by four quarters, it's actually on pace with everything else we've received.
The first quarter of 2024 gave us 5 DLC's. If we continued at that pace, then the next four quarters would give us 20 "updates" rather than 15. That's one of the reasons why I think we are only talking about paid DLC.
Please! No more updates! Every time they update the game, they make it even buggier than after the previous update!
updates are needed to have any bug fixes.
@@SimmerErin Yeah, but when they try to fix the game, they end up creating new bugs. I just don't trust them with trying to fix the game.
New DLC is what keeps the game alive, relevant and up to date. I wish they did this with Sims 3, as it's my favorite iteration and would still be alive if they did the same. Dearly missed (by myself and many others).
yes, true, it keeps engagement up
I would love for them to if possible slow the bigger pack schedule down and get more fixes in between plus more testing for bugs before a pack launches- so that content can live up to its full potential
@@SimmerErin That's not going to happen and I think it's healthy it doesn't. They need funding. Motivation. We also need to be motivated by new content. If they only fix things without releasing new packs we'll surely lose interest, trust me. They are a "for profit" business, after all, let's not forget that.
It will be intresting to see. what these updates are. by the way isn´t it time for a new roadmap.
They have a sale going on right now- my guess is it may come after that sale ends
Well unless it's 15 updates with bug fixes, people will not be happy I don't think content updates means bug fixes . 15 free updates adding stuff. So nothing new, same old unhappy players. 🥱
Passion? 😆 More like toxic hatred.
Creator content is vague. I see people assuming that means expecting players to do most of the work. This could be nothing new. There's a lot of mods/ cc for ts3. I'm not sure if there is as much for 2. This is what I think they mean. The events they did weren't met with mostly positivity so I don't think we'll see more of those. The chart has me wondering if DLC is part of the live services. So again. Nothing new, but the community argues about how DLCs should be done. As usual free to play had people arguing. EA could be starting a new trend; BG free, paid DLC.
I don't worry about what sims twitter says. I find it more interesting here to think about trends, patterns, and overall bigger picture. I don't honestly know what "15 content updates" even means
