Tennessee Granny here! It looks like you’ve already been told that this song and video were inspired by the book Demian. BTS did a live just before they dropped the album and debuted this video. During the live, RM and j-hope told ARMYs about the inspiration for the album and, specifically, that it’s about temptation. The video is a glimpse into the depth of their artistry. The opening scene shows each of the younger members walking with an older member; their mentor. Jin, the oldest, stands in between a white door and a black door (good path vs bad path) while looking at the painting, “The Fall of the Rebel Angels”. Another important painting shown in a later scene is “The Fall of Icarus”. I’m sure you know, but Icarus flew too close to the sun and his wings were burned off. All of this imagery is about temptation. Tons of references that I won’t go into, but you need to know what’s happening in the end. When Jin goes to the statue (the god Abraxus) and kisses it, it’s a symbol of him accepting both the good and the bad in himself. As Jin approaches the mantle and mirror, you’ll notice there is something written in German above it. It’s a quote from Nietzsche that says, “One must have chaos in oneself to give birth to a dancing star”. So, basically, the process of maturing is contingent on the willingness to discover everything about yourself and to accept yourself. Hope that helps! Keep going; you’ll come to love them like tens of millions of us have. You don’t have an official fan base of almost 50M without there being a reason. If you truly want to understand them, you need to do “An introduction to BTS members, the Bangtan 7” by Taylor. It’s long, but it’s worth it and ARMYs will be there to support you. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

most of bts mvs are like mini movies, the lyrics and graphics of a song combined gives you a message. the messages are personalized for the individual and personalized for themselves. they try to combine your life experiences with their life experiences. this video was about ''temptations''. in life we all face situations that can change, destroy, corrupt and even make us give up. it is easy to lose who we are, ''the me'', of hope and dream. in their beginnings and as global superstars the members of bts face not only temptations but hatred and jealousy too. they face pressures coming from all directions, like arrogance, hate, greed, vanity, jealousy, substance abuse and bad advice to misdirect. 'bts' is telling us no matter what your goal or dream is, fight for it, never give up. be it your life in general, your simple goals or your big dreams, these all will require your blood, sweat and tears. fight, do not listen to the 'sweet voices in your ears. thank you for going down the rabbit hole, i purple you.

I love the Icarus references. Also, that “more” sounds like “money”. I watched the explanation video by someone who read Demian so I wouldn’t have to ;) Some people were bothered by the shattering of the Mary image but I personally feel that as a reference to the loss of innocence. As a mother, you get to the point where you can’t protect your children forever and most choices they have to make on their own. They also have to deal with the fallout. Adulting is hard. I can just listen to this without all the references and just think about those times when we get in a bad relationship and ignore the red flags. Tks for the reaction!

Ok, wow so The album Wings was inspired by the the book Demian written by Hermann Hesse. Let’s use that as the bouncing off point. To simplify the video is about coming of age. We all have good and inside us. To develop into your true self we have to recognize both sides. Jin is the oldest in the group so he is the first to start the journey. Once you start the process you can’t go back to innocence. There is obviously tons more but will give you a start. 💜

Blood Sweat and Tears was the point in my BTS journey in which I realized I was not smart enough to be a BTS fan. lol. I have had to study to keep up. BTS is storytelling at its best and uses all mediums to tell a larger story. Song lyrics, MV and live performance and in some instances supplemental videos. This is why you will hear people describe their music by Era's. BST is from the Wings era which is based on the book Demian, based a lot on mythology and literature as other's have said and has themes of facing temptation and diving deeper into the idea of the self. This era sets the stage for the others after it like the Love Yourself era and Map of the Soul.
There is a great explanation video of the symbolism in this MV. I'm including the link. ruclips.net/video/5tlgAUE6yjg/видео.html. Not all of their songs have deep meaning but a good many of them do and it is always worth the deep dive into the meanings behind the videos.

This music video is extremely complex and involves so many images which are relating messages that it is one of the BTS tracks which gains clarity by watching an explanation video. XCeleste has release a good one which is both entertaining and informative. Blood, Sweat and Tears is from the Wings album which draws on the ideas of Friederich Nietzsche by using a novel Demian by Nietzsche follower Hermann Hesse as a template to create a narrative which enters many of the works. XCeleste explores quite a few of the images used in the BS&T music video and how the track sets its focus on the idea of temptation.

The best explanation video of this song is by “Bookish Theories.” Because BTS uses art, literature, philosophy, mythology, and symbolism in their music, they have created a fan base that educates themselves about these things. In today’s world, I think that’s an amazing feat. If you want to really understand BTS’s message, you have to be willing to do your homework but it will make your world bigger. Thats why their art goes beyond great catchy songs and choreography. They talk about big ideas and challenge us to grow as human beings. Thats why they’re so special.

No worries, we all felt that way the first time we watched the video. This story is based on Demian by Hermann Hesse. This song is from the album WINGS (released 10/2016), which talks about temptation, good and evil, and coming of age (early 20's). They firmly dominated the KPop market with this album and were becoming globally successful and getting noticed in America. This was 3 and a half years after debut.

I can't think of any other group where I have wanted to know more about what they were saying. I have researched the stories Demian and The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas. I have looked up Carl Jung and some of his philosophy (Persona/Shadow/Ego). Yes BTS have light hearted pop tracks but they have also shown what music can really do. It can open your mind as well as your heart.💜

Their Blood Sweat and Tears dance practice vids is one of their coolest ones. Sometimes you'll like the song better after seeing the dance practice vid, those can enhance the song for you a lot.

BST- art and music masterpiece that makes you go “Ha?!” 😁. Enough people will tell you about the MV. So I’d like to comment something different.
Usually you ask for songs we don’t like and you mention being “good to your pet”- you didn’t do it on this video 😢. It’s your signature line, you gotta keep doing it.
Ma City- is a BTS song I don’t like. I’ll listen to it still, but not one I personally would pull up to listen to. I don’t like the style… it reminds me of 80s TV tune music 😂. I’m sure someday this will grow on me. The lyrics aren’t deep, but it’s not about women, breakup or romantic love (staple of boy bands).
Tonight- is written and sung by my favorite BTS member Jin. He wrote the song after his dog died.

Best Explanation of what is happening here and the meaning behind the song. ruclips.net/video/5tlgAUE6yjg/видео.html It's very deep. Question for you...Why? Why are you watching these? What are you trying to get out of this? Just interested in understanding as I've watched a few of your videos honestly it's a little painful. I would recommend that when you first listen to the songs, you just listen for auditory pleasure and then get into the rest. If the song itself doesn't move you then maybe it's not for you and that is 100% ok. When/if you watch the explanation video, please do it as a reaction as I've like to see what you get out of it and if it changes your feelings, not thoughts about the song. Thanks!
