Hi. Thanks for checking BTS out. They like to explore philosophical and psychological concepts in their music. This entire album (Wings) revolves around themes of temptation (main theme of this song) and breaking out of “innocence” as one grows into adulthood. The MV has references to a lot of art and literature sources, including the myth of Icarus & the novel Demian. The statue with the wings is thought to represent Abraxas, a deity from the novel that encompasses both light & darkness. Kissing the statue = facing/accepting those darker parts, which is necessary in order to grow closer to your real self. They have a large and varied discography. Fake Love, ON (Kinetic Manifesto Film showcases choreography but it also has a cinematic MV), Black Swan and Mic Drop all have different sounds and themes and are general fan favorites.
@@QualityShXt You’re welcome. A lot of their discography after Wings has to do with different aspects of introspection, self-love/self-acceptance, facing/overcoming adversity, and celebrating life. B-sides are usually just as good as title tracks, if not better. BTS members have also officially released work as soloists in 2022-23 (they plan to be back as a group in 2025 after military service) but they have previous solo singles and/or mixtapes too. Enjoy your journey!
I enjoyed your reaction! It’s not uncommon to not understand the visual symbolism at first. There are many explanation videos out there and an entire fictional storyline (called the Bangtan Universe) that runs through many albums that’s inspired by Herman Hesse’s novel Demian. If you want to understand more about the BU, xCeleste has a great summary that will help you pick up on the things like the statue. To understand the group, Taylor has a great Guide to BTS Members: the Bangtan 7. These sound like work, but they’re actually super fun to watch and fans love watching reactions to them. BTS does so many different genres (pop, EDM, rap, Latin pop, R&B, etc.) that every song is something unexpected. So if one doesn’t appeal to you, just pick another. I recommend ON Kinetic Manifesto, Black Swan, Mic Drop, Ddaeng, Ugh as places to start. The last two don’t have MVs, but live performances are great and the DKDKTV explanation of these songs will help unpack the language and culture references in the lyrics. If you watch Spring Day and the Bulletproof Vibes and Italian ARMY explanations, you’ll see how much thought goes into even one MV, and it will give you a better appreciation for it. And I promise it’s fun. 💜
wow, first time reactors to BTS usually start on the shallow end of the pool. You started by diving head first into the deep end of the pool. I am not kidding when I say that there are hundreds of explanation videos (or attempts) for this music video which was based on Hermann Hesse's book "Demian" I applaud you sir! I subscribed because i am curious to see if you continue your BTS journey. YOU NICE KEEP GOING. BORAHAE PS. BTS fandom is called ARMY (I am since 2019)
