@@feetyeet8538kinda sounds like the place is ran by a psychopathic narcissist. I'll pass. but thank you!
I have some bad news about Starfield 💀
I think this game is one to zone out in. It’s a game I visit when I want to lose myself for a bit- just be in a world different from my own. It helps that I play this almost exclusively in VR.
It's a very similar thing for me along with death stranding
Didn't know you can play it in VR
@@mrdato116 vr was a huge update for the game and it made alot of stuff interactive esp the ships from what I remember
@@abdullahmalik7217 I might try, I got oculus 2 for Skyrim VR. This game sounds like a lot of fun for VR too.
How is it in vr? I tried loading it up with my hp reverb g2 but it crashes on startup every time
I love how this video came out right as I decided to reinstall the game and try it again after not playing it for over a year. Impeccable timing my man!

I feel in no mans sky its hard to remember what you were doing last because theres so much to do. One moment you're about to upgrade your ship, the next you find a cool planet and decide to make a mega base.
This comment akes me so happy, I remember when people were saying there wasn't enough yo do I this game 🥹
@@qui-gontimtherandomraptor1072 There's not enough do in this game... still. After you upgrade all your gear, it's still nothing really to do.
@@MyZ001I'd argue all games have this problem to a degree tbh. However in NMS there's things like quests, building bases, expeditions, etc. At the very least you could just explore, which is what the game was always meant to be about I believe :D
@@qui-gontimtherandomraptor1072Oh, I've explored. And I found some plants and animals. Then, I went to a dozen other planets. And, there I found...
More plants and animals. It's the most shallow exploration I've ever seen. The base building was cool, the quest was "just something to do" which is exactly what I needed (cause there was nothing to do), after I was all upgraded.
I haven't been back since they added expeditions. So, hopefully that's cool. But, you have to start a separate playthrough to do them? WTF is that?
Expeditions are a short thing that's why they use a new save, also if you havnt played since before expeditions were added then that means you've missed about 9-10 of the major updates
Problem with Starfield is... There is no exploration of planets. It's just fast traveling there with 2 buttons through menu's and when you get there its just a randomly generated seed with some random event that can re-occour on any planet just with a different backdrop. The only reason to visit a planet is if you have a quest that requires you to go there, it really does suck. The spaceship you have is just a glorified fast-travel hub. Hell, you dont even have to use it if you dont want! You can just jump from planet to planet with the star-map... I dont have No Mans Sky but after uninstalling Starfield after 5 hours of playtime I'm looking for something else to scratch the "space-itch"... Hoping this might be it
Agree, after watching starfield I remembered No man's sky and how good this game just managed to give that space exploration feeling, also thinking of coming back and playing it, even though not a huge fan of the game. But going back to starfield - man, who'd thought it'd be a good idea to put EVEN more loading screens in a game which engine is already popular for frustrating loading screens. Bethesda's game design as well as their engine are just too outdated, IMHO
Yeah that is a major difference that a lot of people haven’t accounted for. Starfield is a SPACE BETHESDA game. Its legit space fallout. If you want a space exploration game that scratches that itch, you want NMS, Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen.
Problem with NMS is too cartoony not immersive, I just can't take it seriously no matter how hard I tried, it feels like it was made for 12 yo
@@kamelkadri2843 I somewhat agree, what I love most about Starfield is its approach to realism. They have real solar systems and real galaxies. Alot of the tech is also based on real tech NASA uses today. Thats a big deal, at least to me. Not to mention the graphics, even though I dont mind the art style in NMS, I feel like it fits the game quite well
@kamelkadri2843 elite dangerous or star citizen. There ya go. Both of which are still better than starloadingscreens.
Edit: No you cant land on planets in the Starfield Game like in NMS
But the planetary exploration experience is much better.

Great video by the way!
Anyone else here after being burned by how terrible Starfield turned out to be?
Bought NMS after walking around a planet for 20 minutes only to find a significant location that was just a giant rock that had no significance, and 2 iron ore nodes, and alt+f4'd. But hey, Todd Howard got his money, now he's laughing his way to the bank to cash his huge bonus for peddling straight trash.
No man’s sky is what starfield almost was
Starfield already has mods lol. Given that Bethesda games get mods for decades, I’m sure Starfield will be comparable in 5-10 years. No mans sky focused on different things. Starfield is an rpg, Nms is more of a survival and trade simulator.
@@ghost-user559 Mods can only take you so far if the base game is crap. It's a bad sign when a newly released game immediately NEEDS mods to make it playable. The developer ends up leaning on the mod community too hard and doesn't haev much incentive to fix it. "Just install these 50 mods...." isn't a great selling point though to newcomers.
@@yarnosh Yeah but people who don’t know Bethesda expect something that isn’t Bethesda. Literally Daggerfall and Morrowind both needed complete overhaul patches not long after release. Bethesda straight up had a mailing list for floppy disks to fix game breaking Daggerfall bugs lol. So people should know what to expect decades later. Every single Bethesda Elder Scrolls or Fallout all needed patches and updates. After dlc and mods they are still some of the best Western RPGs of all time. Like people need to chill. Play it or don’t play it. But regardless of the hype or controversy Bethesda and modders both put in the work to make these games once in a lifetime experiences.
@@yarnosh If Bethesda abandoned their Aaa titles that would be different. But out of every studio, Bethesda literally fixes games for decades. Skyrim went from 32 bit to 64 bit, and they completely rewrote their engine just to port it to every device that exists lol.
I understand the general statement that “game developers need to do xyz” but realistically gamers need to touch grass. These always end up being the must beloved games in their genre and they are still the best selling games of all time. Morrowind is still amazing 20 years later. Daggerfall is still amazing basically 30 years later. Skyrim is iconic 12 years later and actually still a 4K next gen title with mod overhauls. Is what it is.
Aside from the fact that I like this game in survival mode, I also occasionally like playing in creative, as it is sometimes nice to just hop on this game without worrying about any of the survival mechanics.
Also revisited NMS with the expedition and I got back into it before that with the freighter base update - safe to say I’m once again hooked. Expedition aside it’s fun to wander aimlessly and chart the galaxy, and the actual “story” objectives are becoming engaging to me as well. In the last week I finished the expedition, completed my living egg quest, started the settlement missions for the first time, and completed the Atlas Path as well. It’s definitely a huge sandbox with little direction but once you’re in the zone the immersion is on a whole other level.
One of my biggest concerns going into Starfield is just whether or not they nail traversal, as from what we’ve seen and heard straight from Todd it doesn’t look like there’ll be proper ground vehicles, in-orbit flight or even ground-to-orbit take off.
Everyone wants to plough through games nowadays. This game is best imo when you just explore at your own relaxed pace. Look around and enjoy. Ignore the tutorial videos. Learn yourself. There’s no rush.

@@KlutzyBoss I never said anything about complexity. Starfield just looks like classic soulless repetetive bethesda crap. But you do you man. Enjoy if you standards are that low.

Watching this video after the Starfield launch and seeing that it's not what they sold us in the trailers, you can't even enter the planet's atmosphere with your ship. It's skyrim with guns, they sold it as "The greatest space experience" and you can't even drive your ship, so overrated
Starfield is a huge disappointment it’s literally fast travel and loading screens.
@@user-pn9xp1gz2l That's Skyrim and Fallout as well lol
Yes this is Bethesda . Skyrim with guns is fallout, and this was advertised as a space game done in the fallout style. Idk why people expected Star Citizen or something, it’s bethseda using fallout 4’s engine.
@@Sheriff-ev7my i understand where youre coming from. I also expected a Bethesda rpg and thats what we got.
I think people are mad because bethesda is so much larger than most companies, and at one point were known for innovation.
Instead of sitting on their laurels and decade old engine they could actually try to innovate again. Especially when games like no man sky exist, proving that you can in fact have these things.
I think people expected bethesda in space but hoped for no man but bethesda story etc.
So while i expected starfield to be bethesda in space, im still disappointed that that's all it is.
@@KlutzyBossit’s actually not, Fallout and Skyrim had interesting things in the world which enticed you to explore and find things in the map or run into random npcs, but Starfield, from what I’ve seen, has a few uninspired caves on each planet and nothing else to actually inspire exploration. I’m sure the quest lines and factions are still great, but Bethesda dropped the ball on actual exploration.
I would love to see a mini series of you finishing this expedition!! Big love❤
I legit just got back into this after giving up first try originally and it’s so much fun lol

didnt know NMS is better than starfield. actually able to go to planet by planet with spaceship even can fast travel and still get updates?
Bethesda will never give a F about starfield after its launch like their previous games but NMS does care gamers.
great thanks to NMS developers. looks fun. also on sale now on steam. just bought it with money I got from getting refund of starfield digital premium.
How much of Starfield did you play?
@@KlutzyBoss 13.5 hours start from 9/1 early access bought on steam

Nms is more fantasy. But to be honest the Bethesda mod community is more impressive and playing an actual rpg is more enjoyable long term. I think nms is a beautiful and boring grind of a sandbox. You could definitely get something different out of both. Nms for zoning out, and Starfield for thinking tactically.
So how's NMS? No regrets?
Found myself here after the starfield launch. The flight in this is leagues better than starfield
@jayveeeee I've watched your latest Starfield videos and hearing you talk about it in this video makes me sad it wasn't the space exploration game you thought we'd get.
Yooooo I started replaying NMS last week. Am having a lot of fun :D I love ship shopping :D And I love turning on the game and leaving it on loading screen, perfect background.
I love the way you enter the places like old Starfox games. They should do places like that with fighting and controlling the ship while avoiding obstacles
So what are your thoughts on Starfield now? Because to me it looks like garbage compared to No Man's Sky.
Starfield made me consider starting NMS. Glad I did. Apparently it’s gotten some pretty big updates just in the last couple years.
idk about anyone else but I am incredibly skeptical about starfield & I don't actually trust Bethesda to do anything well other than marketing their games.
I'd much rather watch a NMS video without having to constantly hear about starfield but hey, that's just a theory, a gaaaaame theory.
i hear you! i don't agree about starfield, but i hear you. what you're hearing is my perspective on no man's sky. i've spent the last year or so going through space games and comparing them to starfield on the channel. not saying that you're suggesting this, but i don't think there's anything inherently wrong with that. it's just not the video you wanted to watch, which is okay! in any case thanks for watching :)
@@jayveeeee spaceborn2 will have way more things to do than sf, and be deeper but you have to forget the aaa feel. i think its the most underrated game out there for space games
My guy lost the sentinel ship at the start of the video nooooo 😭
It ended being Starfield the one going to the forbidden zone
It's cool to see you still having new experiences with the game after all this time.
Been playing this game since release. Always had fun with it. I miss the loneliness vibe a bit though. There are now NPC outposts, trade posts and that stuff everywhere.
See i think that's a good thing imo. The loneliness aspect you mentioned kinda gets boring after a while.
I always thought that "No Man's Sky" meant the sky didn't belong to anyone because no one was there, since you were the only dude in the empty universe exploring it.
Nowadays the world feels so much more alive and I like it too, though I kind it a little funny how the game's name doesn't make sense anymore imo
The loneliness aspect is still in, just go explore
@@vrabo3026Or "no man's sky" cause it doesn't belong to any one. No one can own the vastness of space. With your reasoning, it would be "One Man's Sky"😆
Just don't explore to the center of the galaxy but go out. The number of planets discovered so far is probably near 0.000000001
When you realise that Jayvee has made more videos on no man's sky than he has on Assassin's creed 4 Black Flag
AC games aren't exactly complex, nor long. Remember that in that generation of AC games, they were pumping out a new one every year.
Next big update should focus on ocean worlds. Making oceans deeper and more rich in flora and fauna

Its important to point out that the gameplay loop later on wont be any farming tbh. After like 5 Hours of gameplay i find myself very very rarely farming anything. At some point its much about trading and stuff like that
Yea they really nerfed farming so bad, i just hope HG could incentivize players to farm more

Players started abusing it and using glitches to dupe items or inflate the economy to make millions and billions.
They had to do what they did to stop people making Guide videos about that abuse on RUclips and ruining the game. 😢
Ho boy does the expectation on starfield aged poorly.
This game is a disaster. I'm back on no man's sky and refunded that garbage Bethesda tried to make me buy.
Did you make sure you passed several loading screens before refunding it? 😂
Try Astroneer, it's a smaller more chill survival game where the main danger is running out of oxygen and you can dig to the core of all the planets in the solar system.
I'd almost say you're lucky for starting the expedition so late because your starting ship had Vesper Sail installed, which is supposed to be standard on Solar ships. Mine didn't so I had to ditch it as soon as I could because you can't craft it.
It pains me to watch you interacting with everything listed as "unidentified". Am I the only person who uses the scanner at every opportunity? And I'm gonna just forget that I saw you warp past a pirate attack on a capital ship. The first ones are FREE!
Damn looks like im just not gonna buy starfield and go play no man sky

Just went back to my ps4 to play no mans sky and my whole day went by like it was nothing
Thats a good thing, right? 😅
The big secret to No Man's Sky's success? It gets better with each new playthru.
You talked about the tedium of grinding out materials. Which is accurate, however, as you learn more about the universe, you'll find other less brain numbing ways of getting those resources in significantly larger quantities.
Yea I made a farm to host every plant and used those to make and sell stuff getting rich enough to buy a lot of materiels
This rings specially through now that we have a regular refiner available to us in our backpacks rather than the simple one thanks to the new update, so now you can combine stuff much more efficiently on the move without having to go back to your base or capital ship.
But also when you start to understand where to get things you’ll have no problem at all getting rich, raiding planetary deposits are always lucrative as well as taking care of a few sentinels to get glass shards or go into a pirate system and raid capitals ships and- this game is loaded with stuff to do lmao
I love how he was playing one game and talking about another one the whole time lol. I also can't wait for starfield!
I stopped playing in 2021. I love the game, love everything about it. Due to pandemic and financial struggle i let go my console. Now everything settle back strong and im gonna get back my console. Gonna jump in NMS again.
Thats rough man, hope stuff is working out for you now.
Doing alright? Financially?
I didn't thought the game would be so different, i played it last year and it was just voidiness and havesting (plus killing the police bots hehe).
I won't say its an upgrade in my opinion, but now the game might have a better playerbase.
Keep with the good content 👍
The only space game ive played fairly recently is Star Wars: Squadron. While i enjoy it for what it is, its mighty repetitive so ive been searching to see what else is out there, never really followed SF too much, certainly not as closely as when i was eyeing up NMS several years ago and still i've never bought it, nor tried it. Also been looking at Elite, which seems a far more hardcore version of NMS but not sure if it has a backstory or any kind of RPG element. I think a purchase of all three is probably on the cards and ill play SF first to enjoy the story with probably some NMS on the side for some casual chill out gaming and if i ever feel like i want to become Dennis Hopper From Spacetruckers for the day then i guess its Elite Dangerous. As you can probably tell im not a "Space Game" kind of player, im more in to sim racing and other driving games with the odd bit of COD and Valorant however, always keen to explore other genres
so sad to see him ignore the dissonance spike.... unlocking the multitool does not prevent ine from locating it
4:15 ish I feel it can and should have rpg like stuff not sooo sandboxy like literally any sort of direction with the different races and factions everything feels too random
When he said he wanted No Man’s Sky to be an rpg, I left. No Man’s Sky never marketed itself as an rpg. Why would you expect that? That’s just making up nonsense to have a counter point.
I think you can refine condensed carbon into 2 carbon.

Literally nothing in these planets. Looks boring with no story
You do understand this game was a bait and switch scam when it released and Starfield is early access and already has mods made lol. No comparison.
@kanoho2803 there's a story. This video focuses on the update content
@@chronodis Even the devs said they didn’t want a story. They wanted “lore”. And arguably even the lore based story is more of a gigantic tutorial, maybe the best tutorial of any game ever. But it’s not really a story yet. It just introduces you to 30 hrs of races and factions gameplay loops and that’s it. They need to make something more compelling than that for replay value. I would argue pvp and more fps and matchmaking would do that.
@ghost-user559 pvp may be a thing one day idk. I know I'll ignore pvp if it is added tho. But I like that the devs focus more on the sandbox than the story, tho I admit it's not for everyone, I'd say this game is for people who like things like terraria or Disney infinity, just free to do whatever

5:46 Well, no, in reality it's wildly unlikely for any given planet to have life on it. 10% may not seem like much, but it's actually an extremely high rate.
I think that's just going by the planets we actually know well enough to have a good idea if there's life. Not a great sample size, lol.
My biggest complaint of no man’s sky besides the gif awful framerate, is that it’s a boring sandbox, if it was an rpg with abilities and skill trees and there was more direction and more detail and less mindless farming, I would probably love the shit out of this game, I actually used to love the game but then playing other rpgs, made me wish this one was an rpg and also I stopped playing the game consistently like a year ago when the next gen update came out because I get crazy crane drops and it just makes the game not fun

Maybe I should restart
I actually enjoy this game
I’m %100 bounty hunting in starfield
I bought NMS on sale this year and started playing it a few months ago. I put it down because of Zelda and FF 16. I decided to pop in the other day and I can’t figure out to save my life to see a map for the planet I’m on. I swear there was a map before. Maybe there isn’t but I was getting my ass handed to me and I was so damn lost in what I was doing. I love the game but it’s worse than Persona 5 trying to figure out what you were doing when you last played. I went back to FF.
From what I remember there were no planet maps, there were nab beacons which zoomed out a ton and u could see the planet for a while but other than that there's a journal entry for the universe and planets in it listing out outposts and stuff you've discovered. Maybe u can make a map in ur outpost but I'm not 100%.honestly u should just start a brand new playthrough to make sense of it all
So theres no map per say. The only map in game is a galaxy map that shows the different star systems you can go to. How you find places of interest on specific planets are the analysis visor, planetary charts bought from space stations that will mark a place of interest for you, or signal boosters that also mark areas of interest. Basically, they have you explore the planets and galaxies to find stuff over just looking at a map for everything
You have to be in space & in your ship or freighter to open the map of all the planets
"Show me your caves." I'm going to try that on my gf.
I'll let you know if I'm single by tomorrow.
