Because Doris Day is a female then you have to write actress in place of actor. Here is why:
Actor refers to a man while an actress refers to a female.

At first I thought, there's no way this beautiful, sweet, timeless song can be in a Hitchcock film. Then I thought, there's no way a Hitchcock film could end on such a happy and sweet song. Then I realised the child was kidnapped and this is absolutely a Hitchcock film.

Just this scene shows what a great actress Doris Day was. She appears to those in the room to be just a popular singer singing a slightly odd choice of song. She appears to us to be a mother whose heart is being torn out, bravely fighting to win back her kidnapped child. In the hands of Hitchcock, this 'double performance' is highly emotional, suspenseful and electrifying. And of course she sings beautifully, but that's a given for Doris.

When I was little, my older sister, who are 6 years older than me, beat and bullied me severely every day. I watched this film many many times, and during this scene I always weep, to this day, thinking how just like him, I longed to tell my mum of my pain, I longed to reach to her, but I can't. She worked multiple jobs just to keep us afloat, while my father never bothered to care and treat her with respect. I love my mum so much, that I bear the pain for years in silence, and have been diagnosed with severe depression and PTSD for years. I'm 39 years old now, and I just told her about it about 5 years ago, when in her old days now, my sister has been treating her like dirt.
