"What makes this unit special, just like you guys... is what's on the inside." Awww SHUCKS 🤗❤ 2:07
just got one, i been a programmer engineer since the early 90's i am very impressed with the sound quality, the plugins are great, for the price and quality, this cannot be beaten. you can definitely do a Radio ready track with this interface. sounds to me better then the UAD'S
You can do a radio ready track on just about any audio interface
I can confidently say that this is the BEST interface in its range. The internal clock is super accurate for recording midi and audio. The plug-ins are amazing and you can track zero latency with plug-ins. Antelope pretty much took it to the next level. I have owned Scarlett, Apollo Twin X, RME Babyface Pro FS and Steinberg UR-44C. I work with Cubase and non can compare to this interface.
First off, hats off to actually taking the time to reply to everyone's comments! Glad I stumbled across your content.
Second, do the DSP effects rely on their software running? So could I set up a channel with and EQ and Comp, and then completely close their software to save compute resources while streaming and still benefit from the DSP effects?
You would need Antelopes control panel open to run them, which is usually is in the background anyway
@@JacobDarkOfficial how many dsp chips does this thing have 4?
Review for potential buyers: If you want to record vocals or guitars and dont need a lot of inputs then this is the best bang for buck interface. i never really thought too much about it but it has great quality to its recordings if you set everything right. I usually record straight into the daw without using dsp plugins on the interface with a shure sm7b with a cloudlifter inbetween. its really crisp. for Bass and guitar i tend to use the dsp plugins. frankly....a lot. sometimes up to 6 dsp plugins on each input channel. latency issues...zero. this changes inside my daw which probably is due to too many high usage vst plugins processed by the computer. without too many plugins i have a feeled zero latency inside the daw aswell without direct monitoring.
the software that comes along for the windows user is kinda mediocre. the asfxw2 thingi doesnt work well inside my daw. i heard that it works better for mac users-so mac users can ignore that part. The dsp plugins are quite expensive. i will only buy on black friday or whenver there is a special offer. also the fact that u have to switch things with the big knob on the interface can sometimes be annoying. also the screen...to say that its not good would be....still good....compared to what i believe it is....its really bad. it forces you to put it righ infront of you or somewhere near on your desk. super annoying that i have to stand up everytime just to see whats on the screen though i can the see the screen from where i sit. i just cant see whats on it cuz of the angle. and aaalso.....this is not a cool thing to connect to several pcs or macs. it kinda has this safety thingi where you have to transfer the key and its kinda complicated as allways -.-. .....im pretty sure someone with more knowledge or patience could get more detailed into the routing or stuff but im a simple guy. i like what comes out of this thing. in terms of sound quality this thing can compete with any other interface up to about 1000 bucks...but this costs only around 500 bucks..... its a steal. - but if you have more money and wanna plan ahead for the future...go for something with more inputs. i allready hate only having two inputs cuz i have to switch kabels several times during a session -.-
it was always Universal Audio or Antelope for me as the most wanted interfaces of all time on my list, this is one of the main examples I can see that would push Antelope over the top.... still on my wish list after all these years, hopefully one day soon we shall meet...
The go should be within budget
Just bought this interface on Amazon. My first interface was the scarlet 18i8. I hope I'll be pleasantly surprised with this upgrade. Now I wait........
im thinking about upgrading from the scarlet to antelope. how was your experience? worth it?
@@Ben-cg8qk I had the 18i8. The zengo has a bit better instrument separation but the scarlets colored treble (bright highs) was slightly more musical sounding. It’s a bit noticeable on cymbals, high hats but overall the zengo has better clarity but a more neutral sound/flat sound.
@@zensei999 awesome. thank your for the info, will probally go for the zen go!
@@Ben-cg8qk I will also say this.....If you already have an audio interface that get's the job done, you do not really need to upgrade for any reason besides features if applicabble. The audio quality is only marginally better (though significant if you care enough about certain nuances). I had no audio interface at the time (I sold my 18i8 in the fall). so It was an easy choice to just buy the zen go for me.
@@Ben-cg8qk went thru 8 intefaces before picking antelope it had better price point than uad for plug-ins also was so good I got a zen go when it released so I have 1500 in antelope interfaces and definitely worth every penny
HI Jacob NOT to offend anyone more a warning. I bought a Zen Go and while checking the serial number turned it over and heard some part loose rattling around inside. I returned it to our Music Shop next day and the salesman let me open not 1 ,not 2 but 3 others.Guess what? they all had the same problem I doubt I'll purchase another!
Hey man! Thanks so much for this video! Does the low latency stay low when using Studio One? I've had some issues with my current interface and Studio One not liking each other. It sounds like Antelope have their drivers dialed.
Much Love
J
Hi Man, very nice review !
Did you try Antelope for conferencing, say Zoom or Skype, how does it fair ?
Good review. Just a quick correction, yes they’re both USBC ports, but one is thunderbolt, and one is the USBC protocol.
I love Jesus
Me too! But what has it got to do with this very video clip?
Had the pleasure of meeting Jesus at a charity do once. He was surprisingly down to earth, and VERY funny.
Then, why don't you show him some respect and give him his proper title instead of calling him by his first name like he's your buddy you play Xbox with?
@@TheOwlHead ?
I just returned my 4th UAD interface and I am looking for a replacement. This looks promising. I had driver issues on windows with unusable recording via non asio apps, thunderbolt compatibility issues and UA refused to take responsibility for poorly written drivers. They blamed my hardware so I spent 11k building new high end machines, trying different motherboards, cables etc and the problems persisted. Seems they haven't updated their test machines since 2012. Good luck trying to buy that hardware today.Even if it functioned correctly, their SHARC DSP is really showing its age and the value just isn't there for the exorbitant premiums they charge for both the hardware and software. I'm ready to give antelope a try. UA have set the bar extremely low so I will be happy if I can just download a driver and install the software and have everything work on both mac and pc
I'll be testing a new Antelope interface and uploading very soon, direct competitor to the UA Apollo, stay tuned!
I use currently with Surface laptop 3 i7 32gb And it works fine with windows my only gripe is that it takes awhile for they control panel to launch other than that it’s plug and play after u setup plus I love its bus powered and also can use with my new iPad Pro 12.9 m1 that’s definitely plug n play any other questions feel free to ask
Arturia Audiofuse! 😎
I would totally buy it if it didn't lack the MIDI connections
Amazing video! Best review for this interview I seen! Question does it have dim and mono for the monitors or headphones? I know it has mute but for mixing u know
Correction the
the Zen Q has its two out lines.....game changer...I will be getting that one 2 months from now.......I believe this is going to help my Hybrid Masters with my Analog Rack Sound better
Have you had any trouble powering headphones with this? Also, does the USB C cause any problem if you have to use a USB C to USB A converter or whatever?
This Antelope & a TLM 103 are great to record VO
Dope review. Most definitely on my mobile set up list.
7 .
You're right! looks like this is the one finally.... Nice price, 2 headphone outs, and DSP with only usb-c to power it. About time!

Thank you so much for your great review, how do you consider an AMD Ryzen over an Intel for music production? Great Interface, I am planning to buy it over here in Germany, many greetings.
I've never used AMD so I can't give an accurate opinion, I'd imagine as long as your specs are good you'd be fine, might need to Google that one
@@JacobDarkOfficial Thank you so much
At this point with 5950X, AMD is worth that Intel in Music Production.
Thanks for review man.
I'm confused between RME BABYFACE PRO FS and this Antelope audio zen go.
Which would be better for playing guitar with 3rd party plugins? Which has better converters and better quality?
Antelope
RME
Zen go or ssl2+ ? Help me out
Any issues with AMD Ryzen 9 processors? Was considering the Apollo but seems AMD is a no go.
just get the zen go, better audio quality, UAD you pay for the plugins
Would you see this is for musicians? I'm still doing my best to learn about audio interfaces. I also heard the ssl+ was pretty good too
Absolutely. There's nothing wrong with the SSL, it's what I was using prior to this. If you can afford the Zen Go it's a step up in terms of quality and worth the price difference imo, go with what fits your budget.
Thank you for showing your RTL at different rate. WTF is wrong with other youtubers that never show this. I check Antelope site, and the 37 plugins in comes with look great, the prices to buy say an LA-2a for $55 is totally fair, unlike UAD bs pricing of $300 for same thing... ex UAD user here, all I got to say to UAD is eat a Di@k for wasting my time and money, I hope Antelope new interfaces keep you up with worry at night!
You haven't tried the Arturia Audiofuse then? Absolute superb! Always issues with Antelope gear, customer service not great either. 😎
I haven't tried them but absolutely would at least consider them should I ever need another interface!
I watched this video a couple weeks ago and I was torn between the Zen go and the UA Apollo but thanks to this video it made my decision extremely easier since I have windows like yourself and ironically I also purchased the WA mic but great video keep it up bro thanks
Unfortunately you didn't do a review about the Antelope Audio Amari. But maybe by any chance, did you have the chance to try it out personally and if so could share some quick thoughts or your personal opinion about it?
Wonder how does it compare to something like Arturia AudioFuse 2 ....
are the Antelope's supported? I hear there's a lot of abandonware - and things not working stable. Always new products that end up forgotten. Any truth to that? Specs seem solid!
Great review! Ordered...
Jacob, if you have a moment...
1 - What is the AFX2DAW exactly?
2 - Could the RCA outs be used to record to a 1/4" tape machine?
Thanks and again, excellent overview.
Straight from the Antelope site, "With afx2daw you will be able to use your favourite Antelope FX in the DAW", as far as the RCA outs, as long as the tape machine has RCA ins I don't see why you wouldn't be able to
Hi Jacob excellent review . Could you please do a comparison between Antelope Zen Go synergy core vs Black Lion Audio Revolution 2x2 vs Rme Babyface pro fs (Windows 10 and MAC compatibility, Latency , Listening to Music using Headphone also recording quality and Microphone high gain, Plug and play options (Easy Installation). Many Thanks.
I do have a BLA vs Zen Go video coming, but don't have a Babyface and am on PC so can't test Mac
This sounds great. But... issue i have, currently I use ur28m, which is great except for dynamic range and convertors. I'm after high quality like this but at least 4 in 4 out and I always end up back with the audient id44.. which looks impressive but does lack the inbuilt dsp of pretty much all the other devices (though in place as their console pres)
So my question, is there anything to beat the id44 with 4 in 4 out... basically I need 2 outputs for monitors, 2 out puts to my external headphone monitor, and record 2 guitars at once, 2 channels clean di and 2 via pedals etc or already amped. And the catch, for around £400-600.
I'm waiting patently, it will happen soon, but like these more portable desktop rigs these days.
I'd go with the iD44 Mkii, I use an iD14 Mkii as my daily and it's been great
Hello! Great review overall! I was wondering if you could help with my question. Can you use third party drums or guitar plugins also with this device? I haven’t seen information on that and a few reviews say your stuck with the ecosystem. Just curious! Thanks!
I am in a quandary as to what interface I need for my Mac air with the one USB-C connector. I ordered an OWC THUNDERBOLT DOCK (THUNDERBOLT 4/USB4 COMPATIBLE). Not here yet. After reviewing this Antelope Audio Zen piece you have done, my question is, do I need both units? I am starting to feel like I don't need the OWC unit. My primary goal is audio for my label and some music video layback. Advice would be highly appreciated. from any readers but especially for you Jacob.
Great review😎
SO this one has best sound quality? I was thinking between MOTU UltraLite mk5 or SPL MArc One
I'm wondering about this unit's floor noise compared with, say, the UA Duo? Thanks for the review!!!
Anyone else have latency issue in Windows 10? Mine is popped and cracking when simply playing music via the Media Player. Using a Legion 5 laptop plugged in the wall and it's doing this on every USB Port and Bitrate.
Great review and great setup!!! Room is fire!
Thanks for your review , do you think the interface is key to get a better or more detailed , analytical sound? I mean , i m using a beringer u phoria , is an entry level interface, And it works fine for me so far, but , my point is, do you think I will feel a huge change in terms of clarity , detail, using my focals alpha, or headphones , if I upgrade to antelope ? Or the change is small, subtile ? I récord vocals , elèctric and acoustic guitars and mix and master . Thanks a lot.
Absolutely. I was using the SSL2 which is fine and did everything I needed it to, but the AD/DA difference was huge. There's always specs and there's what my ears actually hear, and in this case it was quite a substantial difference.
@@JacobDarkOfficial wao, and everyone says that between beringer and ssl there's a huge change! So if finally I buy the antelope i should feel s change . I was afraid it could be worthless money wasted . Thanks
@@MrRoballusus give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
@@georgimihaylov5432 do you know why they sell it 17% more expensive in europe than states? 500eur /500dollar
I haven't made up my mind between SSL 2 and Zen GO, Is it too much of a difference in terms of sound quality? I don-t mind the bells and whistles.
If you don't care about the DSP I'd grab an SSL2 for half the cost, it sounds great and has the better pre amps imo
@@JacobDarkOfficial thank You. I appreciate your comment.
HI,I want to buy a sound card used in home, and want to know:Is there a big difference between Zen Go and Apogee Symphony Desktop sound quality ? zen go 499$,Symphony Desktop 1499$, Desktop=3*Zen Go? Which one should I choose ?Thanks for answer!
What's generation of your computer And what's model are you using? R9 r8
Jacob I nearly went for audient id14 mk2 on your advice! then saw your review on antelops zen go(MASSIVE HEADACH AAAAAH), the one thing that puts me off the zen go; is as you mentioned inability to add external stuff but i like to see you try something in line to see if that would work. Jacob you also mention the mic pre on id14 mk2 are good whats the real world difference and im not overly keen on being stuck in the box or same box the other option is to pay a hefty price over 2 grand for antelope studio to get outside stuff in and i spend more time reading reviews than mixing or recording anything; its just I want that quality so i can degrade it and spoil it to my own liking HAHAHA yes you guessed it i gone covid mad.
Good Job excellent.
Discrete synergy cores are an option
I think this is what I’m going with forsure for my first interface either this one or the ssl 2
Thanks for video
Does it work reliably on windows 10? And, is there an error in the windows sound device?
No errors on my Windows 10 PC, flawless on my end
Great review 🙏
Thanks, it should be noted that after more time with this I started experiencing bugs with the software and would no longer recommend it
@@JacobDarkOfficial i guess if they update the firmware , bug’s would slowly disappear i guess? What are your experiences now like ?
@@WizSings Haven't used it in some time, I'm now using an Audient iD14 Mkii and happy with it
Thank u for sharing your review of the Zen Go.
Is if i understood it correctly, the 2 monitor outs are not for two pairs of monitors right? it's either connecting with jacks or rca right?
I live in Europe, i am looking forward to place my order asap.
Thank again.
You are correct, they are mirrored so the same output should come out of each set.
Could you please review the antelope Discrete 4 and compare it to the Zen Go ?
Great reviews man !
Sorry man, Discrete 4 is not on the radar
Ouch no midi, or adat?
m1 compatibility?
Did you keep this over the SSL2?
Awesome review.
Saludos desde Ecuador felicitaciones por tus estupendos comentarios, una pregunta estoy en estos días comprado un nuevo interfaz para mi estudio, cuál me recomiendas?? El Zengo?? Black Lion?? Audios dude de Arturia?? Gracias!!
RME is ahead. I sold my Zen Go. I bought an RME bf pro fs and became happy. Zen GO created a lot of problems for me , it hurts me to remember it. Everything is fine on paper and in advertising, but in fact the Sound is bad , the drivers are bad, like everything else. I'm done with ANTELOPE once and for all !!! Six months ago, Zen Go was worth + 150 euros. Now + 1600 euros. for the same money. In this regard, it was difficult for me to sell Zen Go/ I had to sell it very cheap. Stop marketing !!!
so compared to the Lewitt interface are we getting more bang for the buck??
I mostly use the interface for DAC, sometimes to do a little bit of podcast. I probably won't need many sound effects. Do you recommend this interface? Does this one's DAC output beats the cheaper but well reviewed Motu M4 on DAC.
To my ears yes, this is the winner, however, it's also more than twice the price so it really comes down to budget and needs.
Nice info. Saw your latency info which is great. The one spec I don't see on their site is what actual USB protocol they're using in device. They say USB-C which is only the connector. Also, the latency was great when you were playing the track, but does it differ when you're say overdubbing a vocal etc? Thanks!
It runs smooth it will allow u to have low latency for the overdub solid interface
Just ordered one....
Hi! Would it be possible to put processing like an EQ onto your monitor mix / output as well with this interface?
Do you still recomment this unterface?
I am consider to buy one, buit there are a lot of complaints about the company.
Regards,
Remco
I would not. This unit was awesome at first but the longer I used it the more I noticed strange artifacts and a constant hiss sound that never went away. But based on your connectivity needs, these days you can't go wrong with most interfaces $300 and up
I am having a lot of issues on Windows, cracks and pops using Windows 10, also my projects on Ableton are all cracking at 128 samples while with previous audio interface they were running smoothly...
Are you still within the return window? User experiences will always differ with PC because there's so many different builds. If you do end up returning I'd try the Motu Ultralite Mk5
Hi Jacob, How does this compare to the Sound Devices MixPre 3 II if you're using it for an audio interface for voice overs?
How do you bypass the preamps for an instrument ready using a pre?
Adat would be the absolutely 1st missing spec
I think that too
Can you use the headphones and your monitor outs at the same time ? Or if you switch to headphones it turns the monitors off ? Ty
I thought about this but went with the APOGEE SYMPHONY DESKTOP But the Zen is a great Card but having Built in DSP and Print FX built in EC channel Strip on the Hardware 6 inch TFT Screen with 3 built in Apogee Alloy pre amp emulators SD-MP AP-66 AP-57 it’s worth more then the almost 1600$ Being the rack mount is 7K$ and the new Desktop version keeps the same internals as the rack mount for me Apogee has and is the industry standard” in Converters&Clock! You can’t go wrong with Zen or Apogee but if you are picking the Apogee symphony Desktop Beats out this Zen go in every way.
What would be better than an apogee desktop for top notch vocal recordings ?
Can this be used as a standalone mixer> Without a computer . can you apply effects as well
Dude. Thank you sir.
Thank you for the review.
How this is compared to Audient ID14 MKII?
I would imagine this would be a step up based on the first iD14 but until I have the Mkii in my hands can't really say
@@JacobDarkOfficial Now that you heard the Audient Id14 mkll.
Would you still say that this is a definite upgrade concerning audio quality?
There is a noticeable difference in DAC for sure, they're the same price, the Mkii is a no brainer

Hello Jacob, could say something about the interface steinberg UR RT2, with Rupert Neve transformers. Yamaha do not inform "EIN" in the manual and the dinamic range is low. comparing to ssl2, which costs the same, which would compensate? thanks, Marco
Jacob...
Another excellent review. I have been gathering/comparing info for an interface purchase in the $400-900 range and had not run across this unit at all.
So, did I hear right - $500? And is this unit out in the market yet, or expected to be soon? If so, I may hold off as I like what you've said about it. A second set of outs for monitors would've been an absolute clincher.
$499 USD, it's not out everywhere yet that I'm aware of but there are a few places here and there you might find it. I posted a link in the description to a seller on Amazon that has it in stock I believe, def check that out, you won't be disappointed!

Is it better than apollo solo ??
I'd go with Apollo
is it compatible with ryzen processors and amd b450 mobos? thanks
I would imagine so but I'd reach out to Antelope for more detailed questions like that
i want to connect a a black audio converter via spdif to this soundcard. Do you think it is necessary to connect a converter ?
Nice video thanks, I wanted to buy a new interface but I didn't want to go for apollo, do you think this one is better?
The Apollo gave me issues on PC so I was never really able to settle into it to get a real opinion, I tried troubleshooting with support and got nowhere so I returned it, so in that regard, yes I'd recommend the Zen Go
The Apollo twin x which I use for Mac is amazing
UAD USB interfaces based in Windows doesn't works good at all, much of times have bugs, im looking a USB interface 100% compatible with Windows but at the same level as UAD or RME.
I do voice over and audio production in general. I’ve had TWO Audient interfaces (iD22 and iD44) have issues about 6 months apart. I love Audient’s sound. I have to keep the quality top notch.
Do you think this Antelope Audio Zen Go has the quality of sound that’s worth giving it a try? I just can’t have hardware breaking down. What are your thoughts?
2 times better Id44 was the last one I tried before getting a discrete 4 synergy the biggest question is what input u would use ie usb or Thunderbolt

Please compare the audio quality of zen go with apollo solo/twin. Thanks
I haven't owned an Apollo in some time and it gave me a lot of issues on PC with constant crackling and pops, I never really got to settle in to it. After unsuccessfully trying to fix it with support I eventually returned it.
Solo and Twin are very different FYI with the new interfaces. They used to be similar.
Can you bypass the Preamps in this unit? You know for our outboard gear.
Yes you can
@@JacobDarkOfficial This is the only Interface in this price range that does it then. They should sell a lot of these based on that alone.
I know this is an older video but I have a question. Hour do you use the S/PDIF inputs? I’ve searched and there aren’t many options for mic pres with S/PDIF outputs. If there are adapters won’t they add latency and degrade the sound quality a little? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I want to get this interface and I’d really like to have 4 mic inputs.
Thanks!
Been researching what I found and makes sense ideally if wanted 4 mic pres would have to buy 2 zen go’s and chain them or use another interface that has spidif and connect them that way I currently own the zen go and was looking for extra inputs since I recently purchased another synth the zen q is thunderbolt only and the 4 inputs it has 2 are only for instruments and that’s 999.99 but the zen q does offer adat in wish if u have another device with adat u can expand pres that way unlike the zen go
@@boutstaxx Thanks for the reply. I've been searching as well and it doesn't look promising . I rarely need more than two mic pres but for the occasional time I do, I just wish it had a way on using those S/PDIF for recording mics. ART does make a 2 channel mic pre with S/PDIF out but I was looking to use more boutique pres like Neve or SSL.
lol, you know black lion audio's Revolution interface dropped.... they were the guys who were improving all the zen audio stuff lol.
They say their interface is the best they have ever heard. They are claiming you don't get a better clock and conversion until you go past $2K on each in our current market.
If Black Lion sees this, I'd be happy to review one of their units if they send one my way 😁

So when you buy the interface you also get all those effects? That's what I hate about UA interfaces, they are not necessarily cheap iand you only get a few effects, if this interface has the whole package that would be a game changer.
Yes, you get the ones mentioned in the video, nice bonus for sure!
@@JacobDarkOfficial Awesome I just bought one from Amazon, it will be here next Friday
I just got the zen go great little box I came from the first older version of the rme baby face one thing I would say the Dac sound lower on the zen go and I have to bump the gain for the preamp to upper 50 dB to get a good signal is anyone experiencing this?
I wish instead of the spdif inputs, those were adat inputs, that would have changed the game.
Hi, having so many plugins available , i don't really think is a must to have a core ,an external processor, so, comparing zen go and audient id14mk2, only in terms of preamps and converters , who wins? Thanks
Zen Go for sure, I'd only go iD14 if you wanted the dual monitor outputs

Video was awesome man! I have to ask your opinion and feel on the zen go vs the NEW id4 mkii vs the evo 4? It would be for a home studio and rap vocals only. No instrument use. Thanks man!
My next video is going to cover just this, depending on your budget, all are great, but for entry level Evo 4, mid tier SSL2, top tier Zen Go
@@JacobDarkOfficial oh wow sweeet! Can’t wait to watch it! Mind if I ask why the ssl2 over the id4 mkii? And lastly a nice question, from $100-400 what’s your thoughts on the best mic for rap vocals? There’s just not enough vids for rap vocalist. Just singers 😅
@@JacobDarkOfficial another debate in having is just getting that evo 4 bundle or the id4 and a great $2-400 🎙
Hey bro ,I got a MacBook Pro 2011 you think is posible run this interface with my Mac ?
I'm not a Mac guy but the interface is Mac compatible so I don't see why not
Excited to see an alternative to Apollo’s territory. I see advantages. Why is it better than UA..anybody
In my experience, on PC the Apollo gave me issues with crackling and pops. Support couldn't solve my issue so I returned it. If you're on Mac you probably won't have that issue though but that's my reasoning.
It’s not better. The uad plugins are also a game changer
I just found one of these used on eBay for $250…. Less than the cost of a new Volt 276
I'm ripping my vinyl collection and wanting to make mixtapes, I have a high end preamp for my turntable, so I just need an interface. Which would you recommend for recording into a DAW, the Zen Go or the Audient iD14 MkII?
Zen Go for sure if top quality is what you're after
@@JacobDarkOfficial Thanks!
