Amazing interface, really well made video to demonstrate it in real time. I really appreciate how you went through the process instead of just saying “oh yeah you can reamp too, anyway-“ it makes s huge difference!
However, if anyone is interested in this, I would highly recommend the Arturia AudioFuse v2 instead. MIDI, USB hub, external effects inserts, smaller and cheaper with pretty much all the same features as this.

You may want to get the USB version given the deal going on right now for it. All plugins (90+), free Bitwig Studio ( usually $299), free Edge Solo Mic ($650 retail but I would say more like a $200 mic), and a hardcase. Keep in mind the guitar amps and cab are the TH-U Overloud which have mixed reviews. However the BAE hardware modelled items (compressor and eq) were done with feedback from BAE and are on point. Also their Verb, Neve modelled compressors and other effects may be worth the price of admission just for those.

I have used antelope for some years. And they were bumpy years to say the least. I don't use mine anymore, I went back to my Apollo that I wanted to get away from, hence why I bought one years ago. It's not that it's horrible, it's very good. The main issue is the software. I tried it again about 8 months ago and it was better, than the issues started again. I would close it out and could never get it to reopen, it would crash once in awhile, and sometimes it would just say the interface was not connected. I would have to restart my computer and it work again for a good while but then ultimately do it again. They do updates on firmware on regular basis. But it just was not working out for me. Many people love the interface and have no issues. Unfortunately for me it was not the case. I will get it back out once in awhile to update it try it out, and some things seem better and some bugs are still their, at least for me they are.

Being on a PC, I did give UA a shot. And while it sounded great, it did not play well with Windows. I ended up going with the Zen Go, and couldn’t be happier with it. No issues whatsoever. I may have to upgrade to the Q, since I want to start getting into reamping, as the Go doesn’t have enough outputs. It does of SPDIF, but I haven’t found any decent converters for a price that would justify not just upgrading the interface itself.

Antelope Audio interface owner here: once it works, they’re solid and great.
AFXs have never blown me away, don’t use them that often in a DIY home studio setting. In studio for live takes, I could see them working much better, and I think that is sort of the application they were going for.
Drivers and the software have always been tricky and “meh” at best. Solid hardware, fast and reliable. Again, once you get all the kinks out of the way.
Definitely not Windows friendly at first, but pretty easy on Mac.
Would I buy another one? 50/50. I bought my Orion Studio 2017 specifically for the inputs and outputs. That was the config I wanted at the time. If another company made something similar at the same price point, I would definitely consider it.

    • @JonathanKillstring
      @JonathanKillstring 2 года назад +1

Yep, that happened. I bought into the ecosystem after that all happened - so I don't have experience with that era - and it's been good. Had a Zen Go for one year, use it literally every day.
HERE IS MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT: when they make an update, it eventually messes with the interface until you update. And they don't communicate that well. *deeply* frustrating. Kind of inexcusable. Never had it mess with a session, but c'mon, guys.
Customer service has been... okay. Not great, but clearly leaps and bounds from the tragedy it apparently used to be.
Hardware has been rock solid. Software takes a second to grok, but was honestly not that bad.
All told, it's been my best interface experience. Maybe I just got a "good one," but it's been an overall deeply positive experience.

I was sold by this video. Struggled with Axe-FX III as audio interface because it's monitors and headphones output wired to one knob and you can't control them separately. Bought Zen Q to fix it via SPDIF. And omg DI from this interface is so bad, with wall of noise, huge amount of distortion. I play metal, I play hi-gain stuff. I can't hear my amp sound because of noise. Support asked me to do tones of tests, I tried literally everything I could to change and after 3 months of emailing they told me - everything is OK, noise is OK, use noise gate, you use hi-gain amps, what did you expect? Well, just joked on me at the end. And maybe they would be right but on Axe-FX III there is no noise at all. More over, on Focusrite Scralett 2i2 2gen no noise at all and far better DI than Zen Q.
After 6 months of struggling I'm trying to sell this device. But who need that expensive trash especially when truth came out and a lot of users faced the same problems.
Funny that there is that noise in video I have not noticed before.

The Zen series is a different beast because it does the effects/cabs/amps/compressor/eq etc. within the unit itself so your computers processor isn't being used. This makes it great for tracking and low latency, but also more expensive. But if you're just recording directly from you amp and micing your amp I'd get the MOTU. I bought this interface based on this video. It’s probably the worst interface I have ever owned. It doesn’t work reliably, the driver and accompanying software is awful. Half of the dsp based effects don’t actually pass a signal. The worst part is the nasty ground loop that can’t be resolved no matter what I do. I’ve rearrange my entire studio to troubleshoot this ground loop and I have given up. The headphone outputs are very weak too. If you’re running any headphones with a higher impedance than 32 ohms they aren’t usable for tracking. Antelope tech support more or less told me good luck. This interface and the promos they run with it are very appealing. They have great i/o and seem too good to be true because they are. The Apollo interfaces are light years better for the money if you want something that actually works. It’s a shame that this company can’t get their software right I was really looking forward to using this.

@@RiffsAndBeards I did contact support. They pretty much told me to stop using logic and buy a PC. Rolled me back to a previous driver and said the ground loop issue wasn’t their problem. The bottom line is that they don’t care to actually have things work well, only good enough.

Question: Can one of the OUTPUT of this unit be plugged directly into a valve amplifier/cab like the IK Multimedia Axe IO can do?
