- I tried poke poling for the first time, and it was a lot of fun! Caught countless brown rockfish and monkeyface pricklebacks, as well as a kelpfish and a surprise cabezon!
Ayyyyy thanks for showing me out! You killed it out there. I’ve been fishing that spot for years and that is the biggest cabezon I’ve ever seen caught off there! 👍
Crazy how many fish are right at everyone's feet right in the rocks! Great job!
just stumbled onto your channel. Gotta love poke poling! Probably one of my favorite kind of fishing. Good job on the video!
Thanks for watching! Definitely lots of fun!
I've found that the best holes tend to be deeper but not wide, and have an area at the bottom with an overhang that the fish would hide under. Great video!
Fun for sure. We did the same down on the south jetty in HMB a week ago during ultra low tide. Got some eels, a baby giant reef fish and lots of crabs. Nice job on this video. 👍🏼
Thanks for always watching and commenting on my videos! I need to try Half Moon Bay eventually, seems like a great fishing spot!
Yo David its Persky from Emanu-El. This video just popped up and I realized it was you. Our boat is docked at the Marina. If you see me call me over. Those small rockfish make good crab bait. Right now dungeness season is coming to end but if you see me just ask for one. Great video, keep up the grind!!
What's up! I didn't know you had a boat, that's awesome! We should fish after covid is over

Awesome video and always very informative!!
Thank you!
Saw ya earlier today on the same jetty. Good content, keep it coming.
Thanks, hope to see you out there again some time!
I fish there every week! You should go on the ocean side for monsters
This was a dope video
Salted shrimp works extremely well. Put them in a bag in the freezer the nite before and let it brine. You won't regret it.
Little piece of advice, try a longer poke pole (7-12ft), it will make all the difference, and it will be easier to fish comfortably. :)
Thanks for the tip! I'll try to find something longer to use. Hope to see you out there some time!
Yeah man, totally. I’d suggest cutting a long branch or stalk of bamboo from somewhere around the neighborhood. I personally use 8ft bamboo stalks.
Could we keep those brown rock fish up in sf? Any size limit?
No size limit but let the little ones go to grow bigger!
@@sf_angler gotcha! Ty! And yes only keeping big ones only.
So any fish you can keep? I don't know how fish size and legal size.
Any fish you get lije rock fish is legal to keep or not. I want i to go and ty next week but want to be sure about legal size for rock, eel amd orher fishes please kindly share. Thanks
rockfish no size limit monkeyface eel no size limit ling cod 22 inches cabezon 15 inches
Very informative, we should do this sometime!
High or low tide best for this spot?
I'm not too experienced at poke-poling yet, but I found more success at a higher tide. When the water is higher there are a lot more deep holes, and you don't have to climb quite as far down the rocks which makes fishing a lot more enjoyable in my opinion
I enjoy going at low tide, because at higher tides you usually have to extend your pole a lot deeper to find the holes suitable for a large fish/eel.
Do you ever fish for bat rays? The fight is so fun but im sure you don’t like it cause your a local
They sure do fight hard, I don't target them as much as I should but I catch them occasionally while fishing for other species.
Nice how you get there
Thanks for watching! It's at Fort Baker in Marin.
2:47 close your eyes
I have to try that
Definitely, it's a lot of fun!
Hi i was just poke polling there at yesterday. I am local, let me know if your interested in meeting up here at this place. WOuld be nice to share this activity with someone who enjoys doing this.
Sorry I don’t do much poke poling this time of year but might be over there in the winter. Thanks for watching
@@sf_angler thanks for the reply
